  1. Before the game started, my wife and I were discussing the team and if anything was going to happen for them. And my take is that this was going to be one of those games where you're going to learn where each of the teams are headed. The Dolphins have been in a downward spiral, we've been trying to break out of the cellar we've been living in. A Dolphin win on the road might pull their team out of the dive and save their coach's job. It could bring them back to some sort of upward or at least leveling off trajectory. A Dolphin win would probably also completely crush the Panthers hopes for any growth this season and put Canales and crew on notice that it was time to polish up the resume`. A Panthers win would buy Canales more time and would give the players, owners and fanbase something to buy into, one more step up the stairs leading out of the darkness and maybe, just maybe back into a competitive light. A Panthers win would probably mean that one or more heads were probably going to roll sooner rather than later in Miami's coaching staff. That first quarter... man, that first quarter... it said every damned thing we've been saying here for the last three seasons. There was no longer any denying it. And then we found ourselves down 17-zip. And then, well, THAT happened. Canales coached that team into a comeback, the second largest in Panthers history, on a day when there was every danged reason to pack it in and call it a day. He'll survive this week. I'm not so sure Miami isn't having a called to the carpet moment this morning. We aren't out of cellar yet. But it's looking better. Holding serve on the home field gets you a lot in the NFL. Let's enjoy the win. They've been rare.
  2. A QB passing for less that 200 yards, but two TDs? A running back getting 200+ yards himself? If that gets a win, I'll take it every time. More than anything, coming back from 17 down on a day that I honestly thought this was the straw that broke the camel's back, was eye-opening. They showed a level of grit that I haven't seen here in years. Many years. Do it again next week and I might start really believing something is happening here.
  3. Dang man, you don't have to eat exactly what the team will probably have!
  4. We've got the Dolphins today so in the tradition of feasting on the foes, we're going with Tuna Salad sandwiches here. And Bugles. Because, well, Bugles are the best snack food/ crisps ever invented, hands down.
  5. Part of it is that Canales can create a good series of plays at his desk or around a work table and then get them onto the practice field and then the playing field. That's good. But then, the script runs out and there he is on the frikkin' sidelines trying to manage an entire team while keeping an eye on the game, personnel, the refs, field position, the clock and who is and isn't available for the next play AND THEN HE HAS TO DECIDE WHAT PLAY TO CALL NEXT. I'm sorry, he just isn't far enough into his career to be able to handle all of that. Let an OC up in the skybox with the all-22 field view, communicating with his assistants, make the call based on what he sees. And Canales should be out there managing the whole team, creating to tone and let his folks do the work he hired them to do.
  6. Sitting here watching this, get about 2/3 of the way through it and realize life is too hard right now to even go into how we suck and the minute details as well as the macro of it. Things just suck and this team sucks, too.
  7. It's all bad. He's just the little guy on the top of this wedding cake of misery.
  8. Ever said something you knew you'd eventually regret? Ever been too stupid or naive to realize you said it? Ever watched future self just kiss millions and millions of dollars goodbye? Dude. Really.
  9. It's both column A and column B. Bryce ain't going to make it as an NFL starting QB. At least not here and probably not ever, the physical limitations just can't seem to be overcome consistently. And that's a shame because, well, he's a good kid and I wish it had worked out for him and us. But also, this ain't working out here as a team. We're poorly built from bottom to top. There's no consistency in coaching, there's no team identity, there's no grit, no depth and seemingly little plan or resistance to market influences that get us to buy high and sell low. We have a few guys we call star players that would, well, be starters on other teams, and a crap ton of starters that would be back-ups, bench sitters or free agents outside of this organization. No QB is going to come here and have much success. Much like Rodgers with the Jets, we just don't have fug all for a team. The QB, no matter the pedigree, can't pull us out of the mudhole we have created for ourselves as we've wallowed over the last seven years. No matter how high we draft a QB here, we'd just be planting a seed on rocky soil. It wouldn't survive. Look at Mac Jones and how he has played over three games in San Fran. He was supposed to be a total career washout, another 'Bama Bust. Guy looks like he can handle the game, because he has a well coached, professional team around him. One that has a lot of injured stars, but still fights to win. And you can look at Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold, two guys who washed up on our deserted desert island and floundered mightily here. But man, put them on solid teams and they both are living up to their original draft status. To be perfectly honest, this poo won't change until we, as an organization, change down deep. There has to be a total sea change here. We can't make the owners go away, but we can pressure for them to blow this thing completely up and hire in a handful of consultants, perhaps retired GMs and HCs with winning programs in the N-fuging-FL. Then remake it all. Management, coaching, team, trainers, scouts, even equipment folks. Sorry, I'm tired of this pile of horseshit we call a team. It has just eaten alive the careers of many young athletes and all of us fans since the change in ownership.
  10. It's not an apples and oranges comparison honestly. It's something terribly disappointing versus something incredibly disappointing. See, not the same thing at all. It just seems that way because, we the fans, keep seeing the same outcome again and again and again.
  11. Never ever go after what the Browns wanted or took. Did we not learn anything from the Deshaun Watson affair? And yes, Baker Mayfield... didn't work out here. And Derek Brown... rode the pine like a king, worked a tiny bit of magic. Sanders is still sitting on the bench in QB Hell because there's a reason that a coach on the hotseat and a front office that is in shambles and a fanbase that is (once again) up in arms... And what that reason is, we aren't really sure of. Let's not frikkin' find out. We have our own set of problems and taking one off the Browns' hands isn't going to help us at all.
  12. I'd admire Canales' coaching if the rest of the team, ANY of the rest of the team, appeared prepared and ready to play in games. We look like a bunch of people who didn't do their homework being called to the chalk board to explain a math problem. Was trying to figure out if we had any players left on the team today who were part of a winning season for the Panthers. Only one guy left I believe -- JJ Jansen. It has been a long time.
  13. I think they need to bring Hendon Hooker up from the practice squad. Not saying start now, but they need to get him ready and maybe light a fire under Bryce. Bryce needs to know how thin his margin is right now.
  14. All things aside, I still wish the young man better days ahead.
  15. And the latest one. This time it takes place a bit closer to home, in Wythe County, VA. Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions on how we can make these better, let me know.
  16. House of cards finally collapsing. Once it is done, we can start to rebuild. Didn't know how good we had it back in the day. We were hating on Rivera and Hurney, Fox and Hurney. Stupid MFers didn't know what we had.
  17. These might be the two softest coaches in the league. Their teams show it. It's going to be like a pillow fight.
  18. If the contest requires that you physically impose your will on the opponent, you can't win if you are afraid of ruffling their feathers. This is the most wussified I have ever seen this team. There's no fight, no grit and it's even worse now than it was under Rhule.
  19. That's why we need to scour the scouting department of the whole lot of them along with Mushy-head Morgan.
  20. Sadly, you're probably right. Clausen comes to mind. I can still here him screaming like a little girl as the d-linemen chased him around.
  21. Sure, keep him as the starter, but activate Hooker off the practice squad. Couldn't get much worse.
  22. Here's the thing. It ain't just Bryce. Sure, he's not going to make it as starting QB in the NFL, but there's a whole team out there. And that's what we saw on display, again. Those guys, outside of the originally scripted first 10 plays, couldn't do anything. They were unprepared to play, they were badly coached in the moment and reverted to bad efforts in all three phases of the game. It was just bad. And that's on the coaches. And management. It's time to go ahead and blow this whole thing up. Let Morgan go first, get a new GM. Then get a new coaching and scouting staff. As much crap as Fox, Rivera and Hurney got, they were never, ever as embarrassingly bad as we have been for years now. This is the softest team in the league, most poorly built and least capable of finding their cojones. It's time this was done and over with. Yes, seven coaches in seven years would become eight. Sad as that is, we have no choice but to continue fishing until we suddenly catch something. Maybe we'll get lucky and Tomlin will be freed at the end of the year and Tepper will back a truck up to the man's bank account and just avalanche the dollars at him until he signs.
  23. Hey, I wish the guy the best. He was nothing but a great player here. No hard feelings, hope he and his family are happy to be back home. But, we move on. Got some young guys on the squad that are going to get more field time now that he has moved on. Hopefully it's a win/win for everyone.
