  1. Yes, he is able to get open more consistently than those guys, without question. But it isn't just his hands, his body positioning and tracking on a lot of these flubbed balls is terrible. He is a deeply fundamentally flawed WR. Now, luckily these are things that CAN typically be improved on but the question is how much and is he able/willing to do so? In our franchise experience, this is very rare. It's all on him. He has to put in the work and really want this. I hope he does because it will be another long term hit to the roster through draft....once again.
  2. Now this feels like tanking.
  3. Sure, what year do you want me to go back to? 2000?
  4. Lol. Mr. emotional over here. It's a dumb post. Let the coaching staff handle coaching doen the stretch.
  5. Yeah, this is the same thing TMJ and Mingo guys said. Used to this non-fact based argument. YoU jUsT hAtE hIm!!!! Well as someone who actually WANTS the team to do well, how exactly does that help me?
  6. 13th best OG's start in the NFL all the time. QB's don't.
  7. But that's basically my point. Take a guy that might make a difference. The 13th best QB is rarely going to be that guy. Now, if someone falls into your lap, that's fine.
  8. Also the history of Penn St. pass rushers is pretty rough over the past 20+ years.
  9. And all the guys that we drafted that people here said would "show us" when they left. TMJ, Mingo, Corral, Grier, etc, etc. All these guys that were either bums or replacement level players. We have guys that have left here great and kept being great. Peppers, CMC, Luvu, etc. But the bulk of the guys that didn't pan out here, they also didn't pan out elsewhere.
  10. I could see that minus the league's worst roster that we have. We literally need everything from special teamers to starters. The hit rate on other positions in later rounds is far higher than QB. Eventually once you get an actual talented roster, take a flier on a guy every couple of seasons or so. I mean the examples of a 4th rounder or later panning out into a regular starter since 2000 are basically Purdy, Minshew, Prescott, Cousins, Tyrod Taylor, Fitzpatrick, Kyle Orton, Matt Cassell, Derek Anderson, David Garrard, Tom Brady, and Marc Bulger. So that is essentially less than one hit every two years from the 4th to 7th round. We just aren't in a position to make wild swings yet.
  11. Well, TBH, Mayfield was pretty developed. Darnold needed more stops than ours and I also don't still buy into him. Honestly, the instances of players leaving here and THEN shining are pretty rare. It's a real testament to how poor we are at talent evaluation, IMO. We will see with the new regime. The one thing I like as that they seem to move on quickly if someone isn't going to work out. I do appreciate that, oddly
  12. Learning how to win is better than good draft position. Truthfully, it isn't about position, it's about evaluation. We suck at the later. Until you fix that issue, position will never matter at all.
  13. Mid to late is the time to gamble on a QB but I honestly wouldn't. Take a gamble on an OL/DL/special teams guy which actually fill a big need. It's cheap and easy to get a mediocre 3rd string QB every offseason.
  14. It is highly unlikely he ever becomes top 7 in this class, TBH. It's a strong class and he is not a strong player. He is also near last in that group in drops and catch %. Again, it isn't just stats, he struggles with aspects of his game that a lot of these guys don't.
  15. Sure, if you don't count another 1k WR taken two spots after XL in the 2nd.
  16. IMO Xavier Legette: Very up and down season, with more downs than ups. The hands/body catcher thing is a MASSIVE red flag. He has all the talent in the world but if you are this deficient in your fundamentals, it is a very steep learning curve at this level. I suspect we are going to be talking about him as another failed Panthers WR pick in another season or two. Jonathan Brooks: What more could be said that hasn't already been said? I feel for the kid but taking a RB in the 2nd round is not smart. Taking a RB coming off an ACL tear is WILDLY moronic. One of the worst draft decisions in the Tepper era. Trevin Wallace: A developmental pick taken a little higher than he should have been and inconsistent when he saw action. Overall, he showed some flashes and should be a part of our backup/rotation for another season or so to develop. Hopefully he becomes a starting caliber player by season three. JT Sanders: Terrible start to his rookie season that quickly evolved in a meteoric rise but subsequently fell off the map after a scary injury. Absolutely should be a featured player on this offense for years to come. Possibly the best TE since Greg retired. The Rest: About as expected. Some decent flashes from Smith-Wade but these are all backup level players, so anything we get is great. There are no "busts" after the 4th round.
  17. TBH, XL probably should have made that switch in college if he was capable of being a defender. He would be a wild safety.
  18. But we aren't in the era of rookie WR's struggling, especially first round guys. Look at the 8 WR's in this 1st round alone. The only three with under 700 yds receiving are XL, Worthy and Pearsall. It's also a group that is about to have its 4th 1000+ yard WR so far.
  19. Yes, which is what everyone does every draft. As I stated, this draft appears to be a pretty big QB stinker. Remember the notoriously poor class prediction on the 2022 QB class? Well as it stands only one of the QB's drafted(Mr. Irrelevant, Brock Purdy) is likely to see a second contract with his draft team. Literally every other QB drafted is on another team and a backup just two years later. This draft isn't that far off, aside from perhaps Sanders and Ward.
  20. I am not calling any of them a bust yet. I am just saying it looks a lot like 4th-7th round guys that we took. Being so insanely fundamentally flawed(XL) is really a pretty bad start. Especially for a guy that was in college for 5 years.
  21. Yeah, I was REALLY not a fan of this draft outside of Sanders and very unfortunately my initial reaction has been accurate. Quite a few Huddlers were bullish on the Coker signing but I never put much stock in any UDFA. Potentially huge pickup for us there. I just hope we show a lot more competence in the next draft so we can shake the stink off of the rest of the Tepper era draft picks.
  22. Eh....this probably isn't the draft for that. This draft seems heavy on 3rd string QB's.
  23. Hence why I said he is better suited to being a backup/4th guy. Let him attempt to develop in that role. He is a driver killer extraordinaire in a 1-3 role.
