Panthers Prospect Visits/Meetings (Final Update-4/22)
kungfoodude replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Sanders concerns are likely to end up making many people look foolish. Although Shedeur has a hard physical ceiling almost across the board, he is probably the most prepared QB to make the NFL transition since Andrew Luck. I would argue he is MORE prepared than Luck. I do disagree about Milroe. I think it's unlikely he is ever given the opportunity to fully develop, as he is largely more on the Anthony Richardson end of the scale. Ward is an interesting one. He is a true gunslinger and not many of those guys have panned out in the last decade. -

I generally think this applies to most prospects. Hence why you hear so many wild variations in valuation. Consider the reporter who said his survey of some scouts/FO personnel had Warren anywhere from top 10 to the #4 overall TE prospect. This is 100% an eye of the beholder draft. I suspect this one is going to have a wild amount of true busts and also some superstar guys that go late 1st to 3rd round. More than usual, I mean. -
Ovechkin is the most overrated player of his era.

As of today, who would you draft at number 8?
kungfoodude replied to PleaseCutStewart's topic in Carolina Panthers
T-Mac or possibly Walker. Almost everyone else is a trade down, IMO, although you say that is off the table. If you aren't mentioning Sanders being off the table, I would fail to see why a trade down isn't possible, however. -
It's basically a nothing answer. Makes sense.

Trading Down Could be a Gold Mine in This Draft!!

TBD. I think there is enough general uncertainty with what is going to happen at each pick that it could be a prime market to trade. -

Hard to say. Depends on if the heat ratchets up on Canales. If so, I suspect the first head on the block is Evero. -

I don't think the argument is about the book value but about the player and the overall strength of this draft seeming to be short on elite talent. Add the fact that we have a ton of roster holes and that explains why a lot of us are against it. -

Methinks perhaps he is an option if we trade down, which makes a lot more sense. -

Which, in that mold, Williams is that kind of guy. -
REPORT: Panthers met with WR Hunter Renfro

I like Warren as a mid to late 1st but not at 8. -
Odd hire for a one year HC.

So basically a very poor man's Brian Burns? Yeah....that worked out so well for us the first time, let's do that again!

He didn't sort of bust. He was a bust.

Most of our issue with 2nd round WR's is picking the wrong guys. I personally don't think Higgins is the wrong guy. That said, I do believe his path to be a star receiver is unlikely. -

This is along the lines of what I was thinking. Would even consider future draft picks if someone balks at that sort of price. -

Trading up would be a stupid move. Trading up to get Carter would be a lightspeed stupid move. Trade down makes infinitely more sense in a draft weak on elite talent but deep in two deep/solid starter talent. It would be a very Tepper Panthers move to get this wrong. -

Another thing I keep coming back to, is he really a Bowers distance ahead of Loveland, Taylor, Arroyo, Fannin, etc? I don't see it. -
None of us has the details to know the truth. The NFL teams have to do a far deeper dive to attempt to gauge the character of any prospect with red flags in their history. If we draft him, the Panthers were satisfied with what they came up with. If we don't, perhaps we weren't(or he just wasn't as high on our board). I am not going to riot either way, unless we draft him and then he has more issues with us.

REPORT: Panthers met with WR Hunter Renfro
kungfoodude replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I suspect he may not drop in the draft as much as people suspect. 3rd or 4th round perhaps. He is too skilled of a football player to drop too far. I think the guy that people are going to be surprised how far he drops is Tez Johnson. -
BPA. If he is BPA, you take him. Those expensive guards don't have exceptionally long contracts and if you believe he can play RT, we are about to have an opening there. Can never have enough quality OL on a roster.
