Jayden Daniels utilizing tech to his advantage
kungfoodude replied to Mills's topic in Carolina Panthers
Stuff like that will come eventually, although it's probably a ways off. I am not sure how much longer it will be before you see good AI driven interfaces that can truly assist in development. That doesn't feel like a next 10 years sort of thing. -
Yeah, much like Gettleman had to dig out of the cap mess created by Hurney 1.0, Morgan is going to have to navigate the mess that Rhule/Fitterer left in terms of an utterly talent devoid roster. Hard to say how it will turn out, after all, Gettleman also ended up not only authoring some of the biggest free agency blunders we have ever made but his drafts really fell apart at the end and he ended up a failure. Wouldn't be surprised to see Morgan ultimately fail but a lot of these problems aren't his making....yet.

Agreed. The positive is that we have a lot of other spots he could potentially go and be as if not more successful.

Panthers Tankathon (Week 6 Edition)
kungfoodude replied to Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D.'s topic in Carolina Panthers
The thing that has to happen is for us to start drafting well. It's very hard to complete a turnaround through almost only free agency. Also very, very expensive. If that doesn't start improving, there is really no light at the end of this tunnel. -
Andrew Thomas comes to mind. He was trash for about two seasons before the light clicked.

I mean, she isn't bad looking especially considering her age. IDC if Tepper marries a super model or the fuging Elephant Man. Just stop meddling and win some fuging games.
-
Yeah, it doesn't matter the scheme you are running if you simply cannot get the right players.
-
Well they also have an elite QB.
-
I don't mean to say that it won't still be led by an elite QB. Those instances are relatively rare. That has only happened 5 times in the last 20 Super Bowls. Nick Foles, Eli Manning(2x), Joe Flacco and Ghost of Peyton Manning. One could argue against Flacco and Eli but IMO those were never truly elite QB's even at their best.

fug that. Let's petition to be allowed 12 like a golf handicap.

I think that will shift in the next few years. The NFL is cyclical, so I suspect offenses will start morphing back towards some smash mouth football to counter changes to defenses to stop all the pass happy, high flying offenses with a lot of smaller, faster players. Not an original thought, I have heard it echoed numerous times by multiple prognosticators over the past couple of seasons.

Well our injury problems are worse because there aren't but a few teams that can even come close to how bad our roster is. So when you pile on massive lack of talent WITH lack of availability, sadly a lot of it in the ranks of our actually talented players, it exacerbates the problem exponentially. The lack of pads today is really more about load management than anything, I am sure. I highly doubt that is a departure from our normal routine, although I could be wrong.
-
Gettleman believed in hog mollies for sure but he is often remembered for his massive failures in that realm than his successes. He was never truly able to put together a line as solid as this, IMO. He got close on more than one occasion but there always seemed to be some crippling hole he couldn't fill.

Interestingly, that is quite literally something neither of us could afford. They would be toting ~$100 mil in dead cap and we would be eating two seasons of $46 mil base salary. Sadly, although we are quite terrible we don't have a sound enough cap situation yet to where we can assist with salary dumping. We only have ~$42 mil in cap space for 2025 with a considerable amount of signings needing to be made to get to 53 active.

The 3-4 can be very effective and has been used for elite defenses for a long time. Has little to do with the base defense and everything to do with the derth of talent to run the scheme. Switch to a 4-3 tomorrow and we will still suck as badly as we do now.

Interestingly the overwhelming #1 guy in penalties so far is perennial Pro Bowler Laremy Tunsil with 11. Also Ikey is technically in a 7 way tie for 6th place in penalties.
-
Lol. I mean in theory we did with Bryce. We traded out of the #1 overall pick. Truthfully, I am just saying we don't win in those trade down scenarios in general. Especially in the Tepper era. But I guess we rarely win in the trade up scenarios either. Which, I guess we also don't win often when we don't move at all. You know, I guess we just suck at all of this. I changed my mind. fug it. Trade up, trade down, stay....it's probably not gonna matter.

Oh there were definitely smarter and more financially responsible ways to get it done. But, it is what it is. One small win in a vast ocean of horseshif personnel moves over the last few years. I generally do think Morgan will fare far better at pro personnel decisions than college evals.
-
Well he did sign two of our best players on that line. It's hard to not give him any credit for that. They didn't magically materialize on the roster.

Log off, David.

Apparently Tyler Nubin has played quite well for the Giants too.
