  1. I am fine with the idea of a 1 year rental, Baker or Jimmy G. However, it needs to be pretty fuging cheap. Otherwise it's just another huge and extremely obvious mistake.
  2. This just feels like a Panthers move. Trading for guy that was going to get cut and then bidding against yourself. It makes too much sense.
  3. It better be for next to nothing. If we trade significant resources for him, fire everyone. @LinvilleGorge may not even have to wait until the draft to be off the Fitterer train.
  4. We have enough that believe he is the truth. It's like the weird Gettle-cult. IMO, he is already on very thin ice. The 2021 draft was awful, the 2021 free agency was worse, the "win-now" trades have been borderline pointless. The 2022 free agency is mediocre looking, at best. If he screws up the 2022 draft, I am basically gonna be off the Fitterer train entirely.
  5. 1. The guy was far from a great NFL QB. 2. He has literally not played a snap since 2016. 3. I didn't forget him mocking Cam. He has been worked out enough. Everyone in the NFL is well aware that he is unlikely to be able to contribute in a meaningful way again. If he is fine taking a cheap(vet minimum), backup QB gig then sure. Outside of that....we are just being completely desperate. Jimmy G, Baker and probably the top 5 QB's in this draft are better options than Kaepernick.
  6. Yeah, I find it really weird that Fitt gets a pass. He is the guy that Tepper and Rhule chose. That can't be a good sign.
  7. Scott Fitterer, Carolina Panthers: Fitterer took over in January 2021, a year after coach Matt Rhule came aboard. So far, he's been part of a disastrous Sam Darnold trade, two underwhelming free agency periods and a draft that didn't bear immediate fruit. Passing on Justin Fields and Mac Jones looks worse a year later with the quarterback need even more pronounced.
  8. Yeah and that we definitely don't have.
  9. They sort of attempt to do that with the team stuff but I don't think we see much in regards to players really taking charge. It could be that we just don't have any of those guys.
  10. I am fine with it just being a 3 year deal because if he does remain banged up, we can get out from under it. Donte is the better option looking towards the future if you are trying to build. Gilmore is a "win now" guy. They made a pretty logical decision and I also kind of doubt Gilmore particularly wanted to come back here unless it was at a specific price.
  11. Good question. I think proving he is a guy we can win with. I am not sure that would even happen in one season.
  12. Yeah, that is a no-brainer move. People need to keep in mind...he only has one year left on the deal. If it doesn't work out, you just don't re-sign him.
  13. I understand the logic behind choosing Donte. Gilmore has limited time playing at a high level, unless he is able to make that Woodson switch to extend his career. I can't fault the Panthers for paying Donte. IMO, he is always going to be a streaky player. However, he is also a ball hawk. Frankly, arguably the best the franchise has ever had at that specific thing. If he can stay healthy, I think he will be a solid player for us for the length of his new contract.
  14. Yeah, those trade ups are very often driven by QB's and this is a bad class. Plus you have multiple teams with multiple first round draft picks which does water down the value.
  15. Well, if you can win while sacrificing some point in the future, it doesn't matter. I would gladly trade a Super Bowl for 3 seasons of sucking. My God....we're dealing with only sucking at the moment and they claim to be trying to win. I think you just have to be smart about when and how you choose to use those "kick the ball" tricks. Right now, I would say there is zero evidence we are going about it in an intelligent way. I have yet to see much in the way of intelligence from our organization under this new ownership.
  16. Yeah, I think the only guy we have had like that during Rhule's tenure has been Cam, ironically. I think that goes beyond the just the QB position. We just don't have those guys on the roster.
  17. The moves were initially because they wanted to free up the space for Watson. That just didn't end up happening. I don't think we are in dire straights as long as we have competent FO people managing the money tricks. But it does mean that it doesn't take much for the entire house of cards to come tumbling down at some point. Which, quite honestly, the core talent of the franchise is such an insanely small group that I don't really think it would be that bad if we were in bad cap shape for a couple of seasons. Mostly would end up losing overpaid players or poor contract decisions. There isn't really much in the way of talent we could lose that would make much of a W/L impact the way the team is structured currently.
  18. Ironically you came back after multiple meltdowns and concern about your mental state, to complain about the place you took a break from. What a strange person.
  19. I think Shaq is probably a little more vocal than we might know. He just might not be quite as animated as a guy like TD or Cam. Without seeing a lot of behind the scenes footage, it is hard to know who the leaders are. Offensively, I am not even sure there is even one on the roster.
  20. Jimmy G isn't a bad idea but the situation isn't great for us at the moment. If we could get him on a one year rental for something like a 3rd round or less draft pick, I'd be in. But he is also owed $26 mil and that cap could be very valuable to roll over, as well. The biggest fear is less about Jimmy G and more about our "braintrust." I could see them immediately giving him a big extension or overpaying, like they did with Teddy and Darnold.
