  1. So yesterday afternoon I decided to take a nap since I woke up at 4:50 am that morning and cleaned my house and my kid had no homework. Anyways, I'm a weird sleeper, I don't sleep walk but I think I'm awake and I'm not fully. I get really confused, hallucinate and try to do things my brain/body is ready for. I experience this occasionally. So while I was napping, I heard the doorbell ring and I hopped up real fast and ran to the door, I got to the top of the stairs and fell, all the way down. I got to the turn on my stairs and just kept falling. There was no one at the door, I was confused and scared. I realize now I likely wasn't fully awake. Luckily I am just sore, bruised and have rug burns in several places. Of course I didn't get to work out. My upper back and neck are really tight.

Thinking about getting a massage, anyone think that is a good or bad idea?

Had I just came home and worked out, all of this would have been avoided.  Btw I'm on fire this week, on Tuesday night I backed into my husbands car.

  2. Anybody have a good leg routine they did that worked well for them.  I've made strides with my front squats, but my leg day is starting to get old, and I'm not feeling the burn like I used to.  I probably need to be eating more for sure, because I haven't seen a decent gain in about 2 weeks.

Idk about guys but jumping made my quads awesome (wow that sounds arrogant but it's true). I skied 6 days straight out west mostly double blues and up and my quads felt great. Before last year I'd always done wall squats and weighted squats etc. but I noticed a big difference skiing when plyo moves became a 2-3 times a week thing.

  3. Oh that sux.  I worked out late last night too. Busy day.

I read this earlier and thought it was good advice. I love ST's Insanity weight workout, god he has you pooring sweat, he focuses on weights but throws a few cardio moves in the middle. Good stuff. http://www.popsugar.com/fitness/Shaun-T-Diet-Exercise-Tips-Last-Minute-Summer-Prep-23152144

Watch your drink calories: "Don't drink your calories. That's the number one rule of thumb: not to drink your calories. It will eliminate so many calories in your body. Everybody knows that sugar that's not burnt off eventually turns into fat," says Shaun, who's also holding live workouts nationwide to promote his partnership with Powerade Zero. Shaun recommends portion control and cutting the amount of sugars and carbs in your diet in half, but "still ensure you have enough energy during the day," he says.

Kick it up a notch: "If you're a person who works out at the gym, try to take [fewer] breaks," Shaun recommends. "If you're a weight lifter, while you're not doing weights, try to do some different cardio exercise in between to try to ramp up the calorie burn."

Keep reading for more of Shaun T's last-minute diet and exercise advice!

Go for full body: There's no way you're going to spot-train your way to your beach body. "You've got to do a full-body workout so your whole body is moving and burning calories and functionally training so you can see results from all over," Shaun recommends.

Do your research: You'll be more likely to stick with a workout routine that you love, so don't be flippant when picking a workout. "Choose something that you're going to have fun doing," Shaun says. "Search it out; don't just jump into a program because your friends are doing it. Look at it, review it, and make sure you're gonna have fun. And if you're gonna have fun with that and, on top of that, you have someone who wants to do it with you, you can't go wrong."

  4. I just have light beers at home now but also try not to have anything Mon-Thrs. Try being the operative word.

I made the mistake and went to the ABC store and bought stuff to make fun Christmas drinks. Big mistake, gaining wait and drinking too much.

I'm done this week, they just brought more cookies into work but I'm not touching them.

  5. nah

don't get me wrong, I've put on a lot of muscle, I just don't look big in clothes if you know what I mean.  There are just things that I can't control that make me look smaller.  Long arms, long legs, narrow shoulders.

You posted a pic of you arm one time, it was pretty obvious to me.

  6. but let me just stress that even when i write plans for people that just want to look good, they're still doing two squat variations a week, and they're still deadlifting.

when they argue with me i just tell them it'll make their bench go up, which isn't necessarily untrue.

Me and my husband don't lift heavy, we just enjoy working out together and like looking pretty good. We still do some deadlifts and squats with weights but nothing too heavy.

I was asking because I was at the gym on vacation (we don't normally go to gyms) and I saw all these guys lifting super heavy, they didn't look cut just really large, not fat but you couldn't see any distinction. Didn't know if that was because they were lifting big, or if they were just wanting to focus on strength or if it was just them. My knowledge of this stuff is limited to what I do.

  7. Just got back off a cruise where I ate terribly for the most part. Worked out everyday though. Jeans are fitting tight this morning. I think it's time to pull out the Insanity DVDs even though my knee still has a little knot on it.

  8. So if my math is right, I gotta push 510 to roll with you. Phew, that's heavy... I'll get there. Honestly I think my legs can handle it, I'm worried more about my back.

...and what'd u pull on deads, 504? I got to get up to 580... Not there yet either... I'm ready to try 550 again, I'm pretty sure I can pull it now... I've pulled 500 even x 2 last set the last three times I've deaded, just haven't gone up from that.

    Question

Do guys typically lift a lot of weight to look good or to be strong or is it both?

  9. My knee has been feeling great, went to a 3 hour movie, kid fell asleep on my it, knee started aching bad and I couldn't really move it.  Hurt all through the night. Only feels good when I'm standing and walking around. WTF.

  10. Does anyone by chance go to LifeTime Fitness in Charlotte?  I've never been to that location but been to another.  That's a damn nice gym, at least the one I visited was.

I was a member there. It's a great gym. When I went there it was super nice, very clean, lots of amenities. It was a little pricey but if you are going regularly I think it's worth the extra cash.

  11. The other night this worm who has been in the field for about a month starts talking about how big his arms have gotten. And he was about 150 when he got here and he's probably packed on 40 pounds of muscle. Then he asks my opinion. I say nothing but reach up with one arm grabbing a pipe and slowly do a one arm pull up. Then slowly let myself back down.

Moral of the story? A one arm pull up is stupid and it hurts a lot trying to show up someone ten years younger than you

One arm pull ups are no joke.

  12. I had an allergy attack on tuesday. no gym.

Last night was the first hornets game, not missing that, no gym.

Tonight is the panthers game, no gym.

Tomorrow is halloween, gym closes early, kids are trick or treating, no gym.

I'm not going to get to work out until saturday. :(:(

I know it's tough when you're so busy. I can at least fit in a T25 at home and get a sweat going. That's likely all i should be doing anyways to get back into my grove.

  15. I'm taking it right now... no itching or tingly feelings.  I just lift like crazy until my muscles give up.  I'm always sore as hell after a workout.

Yeah that stuff make me itch.  I take energy and endurance and have for a little over a year. It's just enough to get me pumped up but no itching or other side effects.

Does anyone take this: creatine monohydrate?  Husband seems to be wanting to get bigger and I came across this when reading an article. If so what ya think?

  16. So i haven't really been working out for 2 weeks due to my knee. My poor husband has to listen to me complain non stop and it's just put me in a bitchy mood in general. I thought I'd be less tired since I'm not working out but come 9:00 i'm struggling to stay awake. So apparently working out does give me more energy.

I've done a few upper body workouts and stayed sitting on the bench most of the time and I've done some ab work. I'm itching to get back. My leg feels fine 99.5% of the time. The swelling just isn't going away. I called the doctor to see whats up, hoping I can get back at it this week.

  17. Guys, any hints on losing belly fat?  That thing is like a parasite...  I gained sympathy weight while wifey was pregnant... I'm in a good shape and even play semipro soccer every week (full size field).  I need to lose about 10lbs in belly fat.  I'm currently at 6'1 220lbs and I try to get to 210lbs.  Are there any hardcore belly workouts?

Cardio and watch your diet. Limit sugar, bad carbs and fat intake. Do 3-4 30-45 min intense cardio workouts a week. Boom six pack.

  18. Great news Zcustom

My knee is still messed up. It doesn't really hurt often, but it's still really swollen. I pushed it over the weekend and regretted it so the last two nights I've sat on my ass, icing my leg and watched TV (White Collar to be specific) anyways I hate how bored I am. My husband is still working out, I'm so jealous.
