Are the Broncos following the Rams formula?
X-Clown replied to musicman's topic in Carolina Panthers
Why would they go after mccaffrey when they have Williams and Gordon? Did Marty hurney sign on as GM? -
I do not understand this move at all. I thought the whole point of drafting tremble was to move on from Thomas and now you resign him for 3 years? I thought the Jaguars overpaid Manhertz, but we doubled his pay for someone who is not much better.

Breer on Tepper, Rhule and the Panthers quarterback options

I skipped over his post, and just read yours. My bad. -

Winning percentage is not a QB stat as much as the talking heads love to quote it. It’s pretty easy to win playoff games if you only need to complete 6 passes and can just hand off and let your defense crush teams into oblivion. My take is that garroppolo (like goff) is nothing special, he’s just played on good teams that take him along for the ride. If it meant anything, then why would the Rams trade “winning” quarterback Jared Goff to get “losing” quarterback Matt Stafford? -

Jared Goff was 42-27 in the regular season and 3-3 in the playoffs before last year. Does that make him a winner? -
If we do this, I expect next off-season we have basically the same thread template, just change the name to Daniel Jones

Panthers have reached out to Minnesota for Kirk Cousins
X-Clown replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wasn’t advocating for Cousins, just saying that it wouldn’t likely to be the same cost as Stafford. -

The Stafford deal was expensive because they needed to dump Jared Goffs terrible contract on the Lions. -
Alright, let's hit the brakes right here. I am going to need you to have someone read you the following excerpts of direct quotes of posts that were made by both you and I because clearly you can't do this on your own. Your last post starts with an article talking about a game in January. The last time I checked January 2022 took place after December 15, 2021 is when Pro Bowl voting ended. The second article references the Packers game which was already pointed out above, what exactly did I ignore? It happened once during Pro Bowl voting, just like I said. Your claim, directly quoted above was that it happened multiple times before Pro Bowl voting ended. This is why I can't continue a discussion with you, you can't keep up with (and correctly interpret) not only what I've said, but even your own claims. It's like trying to watch Sam Darnold read a defense, and I don't want to see that anymore either.
-
Oh I have, but I’ve also watched him play the games too. He was excellent in 2017 but hasn’t been the same since he blew out his knee. If you like your QBs to make horrible decisions under pressure he’s right up there with Darnold. He had one of the best offensive lines in football to work behind this year and a running game that was designed to hide him as much as possible. That wouldn’t have worked very well here with this team. If we made the same trade the Colts did, that means we wouldn’t have a first round pick this year. It’s also telling that the Colts are trying as hard as they can to trade him for whatever they can get now.

Panthers 2021 QBs rank #41 and #42 out of 32 NFL teams
X-Clown replied to Billy Love's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’d take Jake From Statefarm over either of those guys -
The first article you just posted was written about a game AFTER the pro bowl voting finished, which your claim was that he was playing terrible the last weeks before the Pro Bowl voting ended. I mean if you haven’t learned the weeks and months of the year yet, then it makes sense why you keep having trouble keeping up with this discussion, and can’t seem to correctly interpret what you are reading. Some other day when you start making those connections, we can revisit this discussion. Until then, adios

This is what really bothers me right now. Our division rivals are so weak right now. But the way we have screwed everything up since axing Rivera and Cam, the Falcons probably win 7 games to take the division next year and get blown out by the 3rd place team in the NFC West in the playoffs.
-
He was laughed at because of the muffed punt returns in a playoff game and because he fell down on a route that ended up leading to a pick 6 that sealed a playoff loss. The wofford connection, and the fact that they just kept cutting him and bringing him back had a lot to do with it.
-
Receiving touchdowns tend to be a very random stat from year to year. You get a better QB and all that stuff falls in to place. When Cam was at his apex, Ted Ginn of all people scored 10 touchdowns (and dropped several more), Devin Funchess had a season with 8 and Kelvin Benjamin had one season with 9 and none of those guys are close to being as good as DJ.

The number for Mahomes against Tampa was something insane too IIRC. But yeah it’s funny how many people talk about the fumble that he didn’t dive on as why we lost as opposed to becoming a human piñata.
-
The Vikings were very lucky that the Eagles took Jaelen Reagor the pick before Jefferson or else this would have been a cautionary tale.
-
I'm not saying that he's better than any of those guys. The argument has been made against him that supposedly his passing yards and TDs are just a function of being behind all the time and playing against soft defenses. I would think that yes he would have more opportunities if that's the case, but at the same time he wouldn't have as many of them under his belt. Teddy Bridgewater sure did have a shitload of them for us in 2020, but won zero of them.

Brady has 31 4th quarter comebacks since 2009, Stafford has 34. It's pretty close. If you look at the career leaders (not just since Stafford started), it's Peyton, Brady, Ben, Brees, then Stafford. That's pretty good company, considering that the top 4 guys played on winning teams for their whole careers.
-
It's like the 2010 season all over again, except there's no threat of a lockout.
-
And ended when he missed a quarter of the season. The fact that you’re reaching this far to defend the sanctity of the Pro Bowl because you can’t just admit you had a hot take is killing me. Yeah 3-13-1 is so much better than 3-14. Their third win was the last game of the season against the packers who had nothing at all to play for and benched Rodgers at halftime. Good luck finding a QB that would have done better playing for clowns like Matt Patricia, Jim Schwartz, and Rod Marinelli.
