I agree that moving on quick from a mistake is nice to see. I think how they went about it was pointlessly messy and they likely helped drive Teddy’s value down some in that process. Cam/Teddy. Business can be business. I’m starting to get some Gettlemen vibes though in how they go about their business though. Which I just am personally not a fan of.

I agree with that in the real world. For the things that matter. sports is largely fun because you can get totally emotionally invested in something you have no control in and doesn’t actually matter.

I think Horn is the only pick that would make me mad at 8 that has been kicked around.

Maybe, isn’t a yes. I hope that they don’t use a 2nd or 3rd on a QB. Too many good players in those rounds. I generally don’t care what they do after the top 3 rounds.

Rhule installed a new O, new D, new everything....with no preseason, no normal camp, etc.....and was in every game at the end except for the ones against the Super Bowl champs. Despite not having CMC for most of the season and the roster gutted of franchise fixtures. He overachieved in year 1. We shouldn’t of been that competitive.

I think Denver's move increases their odds of just seeing what falls to them. NE is the one to watch IMO. I personally think BB is determined to redeem himself after Brady held up that trophy and he suffered his first losing season. They have been pretty aggressive in trying to get on track this offseason. I think BB likes Cam. But probably likes Cam being in the building more than playing QB.

Do the Panthers have a legit starting QB on their roster they believe can help them achieve their goals? It's that simple. If the answer is no, then you have to be willing to acquire high end QB talent when the opportunity presents itself. If Sam is Sam....we likely aren't in the position to draft a Justin Fields caliber player the next season. Because Sam isn't Clausen. If a QB doesn't fall? One you like. Well, you draft BPA. Get the OT. Get the TE/WR. Get Surtain. Whatever. Nothing you can do about that.

but if Sam is just the guy that won 7 games in NY.....that still isn't good enough. And there are high odds he is just a version of that guy. A good all around athlete that will never be a very good NFL QB. There is no reason to turn kicking the tires on Sam into being all in on Sam. The chance to draft a Justin Fields type talent doesn't occur that often. You normally have to be really really bad or give up a ton a capital. No reason not to add that QB talent on a team that doesn't have a legit QB presently if he is there.

Darnold is a bust given his expectations. But Darnold isn't Jimmy Clausen. Again, the last time the Jets attempted to actually win.....he won more games with a bad Jets roster than we won last year. We aren't in win now mode. If we drafted a rookie/future franchise QB.....you could send Darnold out there to compete while we groomed the rookie. I don't think the odds are high Sam will be worse in Carolina than NY.

Sam means you can bring the rookie in when ready....not out of desperation. Like was the case with Sam Darnold as rookie. And if Sam surprises and shines? So be it. That wouldn't be a bad thing.

that comment was directed at you specifically. I mean, if they draft a QB tomorrow night, I still expect them to kick the Sam Darnold tires in 2021 and see what he has.

they brought him in for a year to kick the tires. see what is there. we got nothing else going on. I'm cool with that. this narrative we are all in on Darnold as anything more than the above, should draft around Sam being our QB, etc is what I ain't buying.

yeah, I am a Trevor stan. And I just couldn't believe they are going to screw up landing Trevor by adding Urban. Urban creates toxic scenarios.....then bails. Rinse and repeat. I think his toxic creation will emerge even quicker in the pros than college.

Fields didn't play for Urban Meyers. Those were Urban Meyer QBs that busted...and consistently did it coming out of FL and OSU. Fields is a Day QB.

I'd rather watch PJ Walker lose a game than Teddy.

We created a scenario where Teddy simply couldn't be on the roster IMO. Panthers pretty much tossed him under the bus. After that, they couldn't keep him around.

well, Darnold won 7 games the last time the Jets actually tried. So I don't think he is going to come in and implode us. our D should continue to improve IMO. We should get a healthy CMC this year. So I think even if Darnold is meh.....we should hover around 8-8.

I'd be happy giving up a 6th for risk adverse vet QB to back up Lock. Seems like a great deal for Denver. And Carolina is paying the bulk of his salary this year.

doesn't look like they took on the contract. Denver paying 3M. Carolina paying 7M. So Carolina will be paying the bulk of his salary in Denver and taking a 17 m dead cap hit at home lol.

Well, I generally put everything on the trio of the owner/GM/HC. Fritter might not of been part of it all.....but I'm not giving a pass to everyone on how bad Teddy the experience went overall. We shouldn't of signed him. But we handled it poorly from start to finish. Fritter was part of that ending. It's still young in the Tepper/Rhule era. And we are just starting the Fritter era. There are some red flags IMO about the Tepper era and how they deal with people.

Good for Teddy. Good for us (fans) I think the whole Teddy experiment is a knock on our front office though. From start to finish.

If you don't have a QB, you can't compete in the NFL. Do we have one? I agree with the FO, you can't have too many good quarterbacks on your roster. We have spent years spending first round picks on guys we knew would be backups/role players at RB, LB, DL, etc. And they weren't drafted to be behind a "Sam Darnold" bust/project/lotto ticket. If Sam ended up being a legit lotto ticket that Fields couldn't jump? That wouldn't actually be bad. We would have real value on our roster. To do what we wanted with.
