Watching Zach Wilson play reminds me EXACTLY of Corral
Waldo replied to DMathematics's topic in Carolina Panthers
In the fully guaranteed contract conversation it's a lot less about Watson's personal issues but the fact that him and Wilson have turned into failure 100%. I like Lamar but a fully guaranteed contact which he is asking for in the NFL for a top QB contract with a cap in place is a non-starter IMO and the fact the Ravens are haven't signed him long-term while still wanting to do so suggest it's an issue. I wouldn't want us to do it for any player at the numbers you are talking about with a franchise QB attached. I have no idea how either the Browns or Broncos salvage their situations. -

He also wants a fully guaranteed contract and those are 0/2 on an epic scale of don't do it or else. -
He is a highschool OC coach and NFL network analyst, as far as I can tell he has never even coached in the NFL or done any FO stuff. I want to hear what Reid, BB and others like that have to say over Warner. There is some truth there but if that is all you have as a GM, HC or OC in the NFL and can't see the difference between say Newton and Gabbert coming out then you are going to get fired. What the hell did Reid see with Mahomes or Beane/Daboll with Allen that made them take that swing? That is what I want to hear, not this generic overcomplication of it's hard and imperfect.

Seems like an alt to prove the main's opposing point type rant. It only matters if we roll into the new season without other options. If we do that then we have much larger issues than a 3rd round IRed rookie the last crew targeted. -

No real idea on Corral. His practice reps were criminal level neglect and then he got injured. At this point the injury stuff is the only concern I have so far and he should get a chance to earn his spot in the new regime. I'm not a fan of short QBs but 6'2" isn't concerning. -
Amazing moment…..and as always….respect to Rivera

Ron is last in his division 1 game over .500 behind a 1st year HC playing D Jones as QB and keeping his job because the team is being sold where he will likely see something similar to a rerun of what unfolded here when Tepper bought the team. We would be better off today if Tepper hired someone better than Ron and not a buffoon who hustled Hunrey and Tepper while eating some meatballs. -

What is the backstory on a guy with 17 tackles and zero starts being a pro-bowler? I am amazingly confused. -
Should but maybe won't - Panthers, Saints, Arizona, Colts and Texans. They all probably should but all have a reason to not pull the triggers. Maybe - Bucs, Broncos, Rams, Chargers, Commies, Browns and Seattle could happen but it's only a guess at this point. Ron probably gets another year until they have new ownership and we have all seen that run it's course already. Who the hell wants to go to Denver now? No one good so they should probably suck it up and roll with Hackett while brining in a Wilks for the probable end to that massive failure and eating another year of hell they did to themselves. Same for the Browns and the Watson debacle. 6 teams make the move this offseason is my guess.

Cool Go check his first 3 games last season, this is actually worse output lol. 2021 vs 2022. So maybe it's just Sam being limited and completely the same guy. Dump off passes after the scripted plays are over, holds the ball too long and makes a splash play once in a while. If needed he is absolutely not good enough. Next please.

Go back and look. People were frustrated as Cam deteriorated and a few lashed out. Most were bad coach but good guy takes. That's why I said Copium take was more true with Ron vs Rhule. It's not coping with Rhule, it's just outright dislike and that's not going away. I am going to enjoy watching him fail there now and would be shocked to see anything else after all we learned about him.
-
Nope. I wish nothing good on him or them. Nothing to respect or like about him. Now it's he was a good school coach...not really. Little to no meaningful knowledge of the sport, relies on the skill of his underlings to do any footballing and wants to do anything but coach. The only positive I can give him is that his hustling ability will help him recruit at that level.

The fact he was the ear of the owner, has been in on so many bad decisions and we still know so little about him...maybe. The more I learn, the less I like about him. -
Yeah I don't really care. Shaq is a potential cut for fugs sake. Of course he wants Wilks. It's a dead end option. Feel good about not winning and moral victories and all the old stuff that was just never enough stuck on repeat.

I'm guessing the Wilks support is coming from Drummond. Just a huntch but the shoe fits. -

Let me clarify, when I said 'Hurney people' I meant they were hired under his management, he oversaw them and oversaw the build of the pre-Fritterer FO. It sounded like they were 'his' people and not his people as GM. The way I wrote it is absolutely incorrect, you are right. I get the Morgan angle, I can't say anything bad about Morgan unlike the rest of the list. Fritterer has been a part of a couple of concerning mistakes and that debate has been ongoing for some time Drummond was in on the hiring process of Rhule being the third wheel for some reason and the hiring process of Fritterer Link. He was the team spokesman when they hired 2.0 in 18 Link. They have worked together for some time up to his 2nd firing. I have no idea what this guy really does but considering some of the crap he was involved with I still stand by us being better off without him. His position is VP of Football Operations and Senior Advisor to Ownership. Dear god he looks like Hurney 3.0 I agree with SS being a Tepper choice and the sooner that guy is gone the better IMO. His hand in the contracts I mentioned and look consistent when Hurney was here and after. I get the feeling he is the push for the 'there is no cap approach' based off of Lumis' work in NO with Payton. Stewart was a Rhule guy and they promoted him after firing 2.0, doing the pro-scouting that Morgan was brought into improve after the 21 FA mess. I don't know why he is still here either. They didn't hire an AGM for Hurney so maybe the plan may have been to let him try and win the crown but after 21 hopefully they saw the need for Morgan? If Fritterer and Morgan can't bring in their own people then what's really the point of keeping them? That list is a mess of underwhelming to just outright concerning. Morgan already replaced Stewart so why is here here other than collecting a check? None of that is impressive beyond Morgan looking really solid so far. -

All the people I mentioned are Hurney people expect Fritterer. Hurney was the GM on the CMC deal but we had hired the rest expect Fritterer right? So they were part of the process I assume with Hurney as the head or did Hurney hire the cap guy and then not have him work on CMC's deal? That looks a lot like the Moore and Moton deals? Morgan is the only one I didn't mention because he hasn't done any bad that I have seen in his first year here. -
$8 mil a year. He is a good but not great player. Being better than Elf is like Wilks being better than Rhule, it's not much of a bar to pass and really shouldn't be a competent comparison of value due to one being an abnormally bad option. We have already overpaid Moton on the line, we really don't have to overpay for another solid Olineman at this time.

It is a huge choice that will effect my expectations with the new crew. It's hard for me to believe our current people are well situated to make a great hire if we don't. Maybe it's better than Tepper going it solo but not enough to be optimistic about to me. Who is going to lead the charge? The guy who traded too much for Sam? The guy who did CMC's deal to prove how smart he is? Steve Drummond, Hurney's protégé lol. Pat Stewart, the guy so good we had to go get Morgan to offset his and Fritter's misses in 2021? I am not impressed with any of that at this time. -
Yeah but if a QB is on the table then it's worth a look. That deal is dead and will make any other deal look not as good but 2 first isn't bad either. He isn't a Peppers or Miller. He is a good player who could be overpaid and that never ends well...just ask CMC.
-
They only thing I heard off was that we have to sign him. Until he signs he is absolutely tradeable.
-
Rams would be worst case IMO but that also has a lot to do with how they trade for tallent and not draft enough. Hackett's red flag was he was in GB with Rogers and it's looking like it was a lot of Roger so he went and got Wilson who is in fact not Rogers. The 2 OCs in the top of the discussion are working with less and making it look good much like Daboll in NY. I like that guy, came in and didn't shoot himelf in the foot tryibg to make year 1 perfect and is taking a huge step this year in opening his options next year. I want a long term build built on sustainable success move but I still feel part of that is an offinsive HC who has shown they can make the most of the guys they have. It's like with QBs, you have to take a swing and be as smart about it as you can.
