  1. Anyone asked yet why the Ravens are balking at a new contract for him (not re-reading)? They must feel very strongly that they can do more with the draft capital than LJ at that price and they know him best. I would have to agree with the Ravens on this one. Being good on a rookie deal is a lot different then the good you have to be on a large guaranteed contract. I have no problem with the guy but I don't think he is worth a top 5 contract. It's a smart move for the Ravens IMO but they also can't be idiots with his replacement. If they get a playable vet and a project QB they should be fine which says a LOT about that entire situation for them. This feels more like a Seatle/Willson situation for them and less Detroit/Stafford to me.
  2. Lol that was what Fitt was hired to do and he took the job that year. No escaping that stain for either.
  3. Liked him coming out but he can't stay healthy and hasn't developed much. He isn't a project that makes much sense for us in any positive way. We already have a young longshot not healthy enough QB on the roster next year. Draft one and don't do a mega deal for anyone.
  4. Just draft one. Giving up that kind of capital and then a mega contract is a huge hurdle. It's one thing to pay your own guy after those rookie years and a complete other to trade years of draft capital and then sign a huge guaranteed contract. Add in it's going to be year 1 on a new crew and that is a hell no from me. Let the new people come in, get established, learn some basic lessons making rookie mistakes and then take stock on weather such a giant move would not end up turning toxic. It makes sense in Madden but not for us next year. Do not want. He is a winner but I hate the thought of being on the buying end of those type deals.
  5. Because Wilks' approach is the same as Ron's. Play 10 deep on that soft coverage.
  6. Superstar? We don't have any. The rest of his BS has already been covered. Yup. Classic Ron BS. Do not want even as a DC at this point.
  7. Let them compete. If the QB can't keep the job by their play then they shouldn't get another week until their next turn. Baker was a dud so next up, which is Sam. The truth is we know what all of them are at this point in their careers and it's auditioning for a backup roll so being able to come off the bench is more valuable than hoping there is some hidden reservoir left to squeeze out of any of them. Baker shouldn't get close to the 70% mark with how he is playing.
  8. He is next guy up so no real surprise. Baker didn't earn another week so on the the next until this season's merciful end.
  9. It's way too early to pretend to know for certain. The combine will raise lots of questions and answer other ones. Young needs an official measurements but it does not look good on what could have been the best QB by far in this draft. Missing on Young and Stroud may be a blessing for us. A DE and then trade up Richardson is the best case scenario from me right now. Not a tanker so I really don't feel to need to go out on a limb for any of these guys yet. First they all need to finish their practice careers without getting injured.
  10. I don't think offers like that come around often so I have already lowed my expectations a ton if we do end up shipping him off under the new management. He isn't worth a top deal. He is a good player but not a great player. It's going to be interesting to see what they offer him. I'm still hoping for a trade but for a lot less.
  11. Or with our 1st on a better player and have enough to trade up for a QB. Or trade both those future first for an established player who is better than Burns on a contract with another team eating some salary. Saying Burns isn't replaceable is complete BS. It's is just a matter of the people doing this being good enough to not make a terrible decisions. It's not moot, we could still trade him and may need to...just for a lot less in all likelihood.
  12. And their 1st the next 2 years. Such a stupid decision to not make that trade.
  13. It is a huge concern. Wilks is absolutely the wrong HC hire for many reasons including his staffing. As far as I am concered I think his coaching tree is a dead end. Nothing guarantees success with anyone we bring in but we have seen this and if they are going to hire Wilks just being Ron back for the maximum does of mediocrity. From the worst to just not good enough. Yay
  14. It's fine, nothing to see here...
  15. Coaching staff, not just HC, then QB. Tanking is a really bad idea but I also don't think trading players for draft picks is tanking, it's just a complete rebuild.
  16. 3-7 after going from Urban to the HC that got caught tanking...Also a job that Leftwhich (regardless of what you think of him) withdrew from. It's not a myth.
  17. Because he isn't as good as the guy he replaced. At least not yet.
  18. That is a little simplistic. These guys are all about the competitiveness so letting them take a shot and keeping it until they lose it is the more likely and appropriate approach IMO. Yours is fair from a logical approach but it would also undermine good play and them actually earning anything this year.
  19. I think so or it's what I am expecting to see which is why I was like WTF feels the need to rush it after Baker's performance and PJ injured? If it's not the next game then it would be the one after would also be my guess. Unfortunately the season doesn't end soon so there is way too many games left for everyone to get a turn or two.
  20. That would be pretty damn funny but even at his best he is just not good enough to pull off perfection, none of them are. Everyone should get a chance, it's just not that hard. Audition and evaluate. Anyone not doing that needs to just be fired now because they are getting in the way of the only purpose of the rest of this season. The timing just has me curious. It's a dumb call until Monday IMO because Baker already earned this start with PJ out from his backup performance. Monday is the likely point I expected to hear about Sam getting his chance soon anyways, that's if he isn't subbed in on Sunday before then.
  21. That would be at best a really late round comp pick that would likely not go anywhere with a new staff coming in and brining a few outside guys to remake the team as they desire. I can't imagine either one signing a substantial contract at this point. A short prove it deal that is easy to get out of? Sure but nothing major.
  22. Not bothered just curious on such weird timing since we can't do anything but play them all until the end of the year anyways.
  23. Not at all unfortunately. Seems toxic in the NFL. I get coaching trees and connections matter but any tree will dry up so those guys need to get more comfortable branching out more often.
  24. Unless Friterer has to prove Sam isn't a massive bust then he is best to pretend that was Rhule thing and just do business as normal so next man up. It just sounds like there is more going on behind the scenes then we know. I sure hope so because if any of those people are getting comfy at this point just sounds like we are better off without them next year.
