Even more pressure numbers (not for the weak stomach)
Waldo replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's Dalton and he just looked better with the same crew and tons of hits/pressures. People like and dislike players all the time. Young is fair game like anyone else. Also going to be hard to be the ROY on the bench... Miami is looking like a Dalton game given how this year is going... -
Former UVA quarterback Bryce Perkins works out for Panthers
Waldo replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
Given the situation, if this is for a PS spot they should have said so upfront. -
Yeah RBs do a lot more than just run or they should and getting more RBs other than Sanders involved is a thing they also need to try again. I said short passing game, 1 Theilen (for you) and 2 Hurst in different directions with the rest going elsewhere. It's so easy. One is a WR and the other is a TE so I hope they do get different looks, that is the entire point of combining them on some plays. Look at the passing charts. There is plenty of small work being done to go around. I said a sprinkling, not heavy, would allow the others to maybe get open, looking at TMJ, or more effective deeper stuff to Chark. It's called spreading it around which is what the OP was talking about which tends to open it up for others which I am guessing was the entire point. How is rotating another player into the mix when Theilin already being option 1 isn't working well enough anything less than something to try? The more people getting receptions is a great thing, not a negative. It should open up somethings for others which is the entire point.

He isn't involved just like Hibbard isn't involved. Getting him involved would be calling plays for him. It's all semantics which is why I said it's the same thing. I thought that is why most plays have multiple reads. How many are they calling with just one read?

Didn't Wilks do all of this with a defensive background? In a short amount of time last year? Yes he did. Link -
Use both and they should be using those plays just like they should be running more. It's such low hanging fruit left of the tree. Send them is different directions and let the QB get rid of it. Build them up, build up the pass protection and keep the D honest. Hurts' best days are behind him but even Walls could make those plays when he was way over hill. I don't see it as drawing up plays for Hurts as much as just getting him involved, which in the middle is the same thing. Short yardage and sprinkle him throughout a drive for an easy 4 to 6 yards. Do Thielen on the other side and see who gets open or has a bad matchup. Any player that can produce should get sprinkled into the playcalling and that includes the RBs.

He could absolutely be used in short yardage stuff throughout a game. And easy short yardage stuff from multiple targets where the ball gets out fast would sure put the rookie in a better spot. Everyone knew Brady was going to get rid of it quick and short and they still had trouble stopping him. It's not sexy but it works just fine.

Why is he calling plays at all? It's been a huge issue for him in the past and his OC needs to take those reins and soon.

Optimistic look at the current state of the team
Waldo replied to JawnyBlaze's topic in Carolina Panthers
Let the coordinators cook, Frank is in the way and it's been a problem with him in the past. Frank has been spiraling for 3 years and this looks like his worst yet. Step back and be a HC, not the OC. Run the ball a lot more. Maybe add a TE to that process. Look to what worked with the players in the past and adjust towards that. Or look at 0-3 and keep pounding I guess -

Yet so many coaches are hell bent on their way while completely ignoring any facts that might help them improve if it gets in the way of their way. -

This Team Has Been Hamstrung for Several Years
Waldo replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
Oline was improving at the end of the year so what did they do? Change the scheme away from their personnel's strengths and stopped running the ball. And that is with one of those being a top 10 pick 2 years ago. Freaking dismal approach. -

We have on so many levels -
It's like they didn't talk about the roster when they hired these coaches. What kind of Oline do you have? Power running. Ok let's go zone blocking and throw more than 60% of the time. They very obviously don't football which is why anyone can sell them on getting the job while they have no hope of qualifying the hire due to their complete lack of football knowledge. He needs someone to run the team and manage ownerships need to meddle. Then go get a GM and HC on the same page who do not have the excuse of failing big and just blaming who was there before them. They have none of this in house at this time.

Had the lead at halftime and ended up throwing 81% of the time in the game anyways... -
Can anyone tell me why we went to zone blocking?
Waldo replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Looking at the last game 81% pass and 67.98% on the year. It's working wonders for him so far I guess -
Nothing said wasn't true. If nothing changes excpect more of that to be incoming

Some is poor drafting and some is poor coaching. I still think Chinn could be a decent player but he was never a fugging FS and I don't think they ever gave him a shot at SS. Either way, that is not a good trend to look at. -
So do what they haven't been able to do and we are good? In on every deal is fine for checking in while hearing it out and moronic for not being able to qualify a good and bad deal...which is 100% in question given the recent history. I just don't see how anyone can believe in Fritters at this point. The good vs bad ratio is an issue that looks to be growing as his team building comes together this year.

What are your best ideas for trade packages to help this team?
Waldo replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sadly Chinn is at the point of being paid and still not an established starter at a given spot. That's not on him but coaching and team building. It stinks when you have to let a decently talented player walk because it's payday and they were mis-managed for 4 years. He looked good his rookie year, bad at FS and I don't think they ever let him play SS. Burns and Chinn are the most likely targets, no idea on what they could get for Chinn at this point and I don't know how they pay him moving forward unless he breaks in a good way this year. Brown completely depends on his contract negotiations, he will get paid but I don't know what he expects at this point. If it's decent he would be a good piece moving forward. -
David Tepper. She has zero history of any work or anything really. Maybe I googled wrong...
