  1. Oh I’m not directly it at any particular poster. The person talking about the FO was fine and had sone good points. My post was just a reference to this whole topic/discussion. I don’t see us saving pick 9 and signing Carr. That’s all.
  2. This person understands. Hell they have been the only reliable source leaking a little info for us.
  3. It just seems like a waste of money to hire these QB whispers on your staff and then drop a ton of money to sign an established vet QB in his 30s? I guess we shall see. I just see us possibly signing a cheap vet like Brisset or even Darnold and drafting a QB. Using that QB rookie salary plus all of our free space next season (assuming we don't use it up) puts us in a great spot to build a solid team. Not to mention Reich issues having a vet QB signed every offseason with the Colts. Who knows at this point?
  4. Barno could be deadly if developed properly at edge.
  5. Do they have interest or not? I only see articles saying Carolina is "expected" to have interest. If a 37 million dollar (his expected salary) starting QB becomes available, and he is one you really like then you don't really drag your feet in meeting with him. If there is any interest in this point it seems minor, as Frank Reich and Fitt would be at least inquiring about a meeting. Bringing in Caldwell and McCown is a little telling where Reich is leaning with his QB decision and it's currently in the draft. This staff was assembled to help find and develop a young signal caller. Fitt has already said drafting your guy is the best way to do it and also stated if there is one you like you move up and draft him.
  6. If there is no urgency they are ok with drafting one. I mean his offensive staff is setup to develop a young QB vs signing a vet.
  7. I think we should trade up to 3 and take whichever remains. It saves us some draft capital and I don't think there is a clear cut number 1 or 2 in this draft. Similar to what the 49ers did a couple years ago with less picks being used.
  8. Oh I'm just messing with you. I'll be happy if Reich thinks Levis is his guy. It feels nice to actually trust the staff. I could see us getting into the top 3 which guarantees Stroud, Levis, or Young.
  9. We need to be nice to him as we might be trading picks with him in the first round.
  10. This video compares it to Russ Wilson dropping his deep passes into WR’s arms. Called it his “moon ball.” He also compared it to Jared Goff’s which is a solid NFL arm. Levis and AR have the cannon’s if that’s what you like.
  11. He is the QB we should target IMO. It’s funny I’ve mentioned he can be a Goff to Burrow (obvious best case) and this video compares him to Goff while McCown compared him to Burrow. The pocket issues can be fixed with our staff. He is a smart, accurate thrower who can make all the NFL throws.
  12. Just because Cam is his daddy, doesn’t make him Chosen.
  13. That would be my dream scenario. Colts trade up to 1 and draft Young, Texans take Levis, and we can trade up to 3 and get Stroud for much less than jumping up to 1.
  14. I don’t think teams are ever 100% sold on a player. I’m just confident in our staff to make the right decision. They should be able to weigh how confident they are in a player vs the cost of acquiring that player. To answer your question though they shouldn’t trade up “just to take one.”
  15. The Brady thing happening is extremely rare if not once in a generation. The GOAT QB becomes a FA and decides where he wants to play while still playing at an elite level. I’m not interested in trying to replicate that. McVay built his team on trading picks for vets and paying for big time free agents. It’s a solid strategy but very short term. It’s one of the reasons he is flirting with going into broadcasting. He knows his cap is about to be screwed while his team ages out.
  16. I think people get too caught up with Super Bowl wins. It takes a talented team, coach, QB, and some luck to win one. The best chance at winning one is the build a constant contender. A team always in the playoff race. You need a good coach and a franchise QB to do this. We need to build a consistent playoff team then worry about a final piece to make a Super Bowl push. Bengals Burrow, Chiefs Mahomes, and Allen Bills are going to be constant AFC threats. All have talented QBs (2 were traded up to draft), with smart coaches that have built solid teams around these young QBs. That’s the blueprint we should follow IMO. There is also a clear shortage on franchise QBs in the league. This means QBs that could have been 2nd round picks in the past will likely get drafted higher (in the 1st). It’s the most valuable position in sports. If our now very experienced staff falls in love with one then Fitt should have no problem making a trade up happen to acquire that QB.
  17. The point is several teams have already interviewed Carr. The Panthers aren’t one of those teams. If we were remotely interested I feel like we would have bright him in for an interview minimum. It would be a huge cap hurdle to even sign him and our staff is clearly built to develop a QB.
  18. Regardless his situation was weird with the Colts and he was being pushed get an established vet QB to win now. He is equipped to draft his guy and develop him with his staff in Carolina.
  19. Yeah one is a professional QB coach looking at tape vs us fans looking at ESPN stats. I’m not saying he will be Burrow, that is obviously his ceiling, but playing style is way more Burrow than Fields.
  20. That was our QB coach’s comparison. I would imagine he is going to have some input… https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/10065261-cj-stroud-compared-to-joe-burrow-by-panthers-qb-coach-josh-mccown-before-nfl-draft.amp.html
  21. https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2022/story/_/id/33145124/patrick-mahomes-evolving-nfl-draft-quarterback-evaluation-how-chiefs-qb-changed-way-todd-mcshay-scouts-position?platform=amp
  22. Stroud is a Fields clone??? Really? That’s like comparing Tua and Hurts because they played at the same school. They are two completely different players. Stroud can become anywhere from Goff to Burrow (who our new QB coach has already compared him to). You would be better off comparing AR to Fields. No Levis and AR aren’t ready to start week 1 unless we just want them to take their lumps like Buffalo did with Allen. That’s actually the norm for rookie QBs. Week 1 starters that look solid are extremely rare. It’s another reason why waiting another year isn’t the best idea. You are typically 2 plus years away from great QB play when you draft one.
  23. Reich hires the offensive staff and DC. He is letting his new DC hire his defensive staff. It’s no secret how this works. He went into his interview pitching his staff candidates which is what helped him get the job.
