Observation: Panthers want to Draft a QB but...
ForJimmy replied to Doc Holiday's topic in Carolina Panthers
Pickett is good and can still get better IMO. Burrow spent last offseason tweaking his throwing motion to gain more velocity on his throws and it worked. I could see Pickett doing something similar. Also recognizing and manipulating defense is something good QBs become great at as they gain experience. Just because he is more polished as a passer doesn’t mean he doesn’t have room to grow. -
Strongest arm in the draft. Can effortlessly throw off the run and hit the WR in stride.
-
Don’t doubt Sax.

Vick looked pretty good on the Eagles. I blame the shitty organization that is the Falcons that caused him to come up short. Honestly he couldn’t stay healthy from what I remembered, but he was fun to watch.
-
I was high on Fields too.

I think Howell is going to generate some excitement his Pro Day next week. People forget how good he was when he had some decent talent around him 2 years ago. He still was good last year all things considered.

REPORT: Panthers are not interested in Baker Mayfield

I've got nothing against Corral. I'd be happy if he get him by trading down. His frame/paying style bothers me a little. He played well against tough competition, but he was banged up a lot and takes a lot of hits. I still think Willis has the highest ceiling and strongest arm in this class. Corral probably has a higher floor though as he carved up some SEC defenses. -
We could probably get 20, their 2nd, and first next year. Grab another OL with their 2nd round pick to go with Corral and have two firsts waiting next year.

Yeah I don't mind Baker, but he isn't nearly as good as he thinks he is.... -
He is talented and I would like him to be a Panther, but he is still pretty raw. If Mac Jones went to JAX and Lawrence went to NE they would have very different seasons/careers. I still think Willis would be good hear, but the Steelers would really get the best out of him IMO. This could all change depending on our coaching situation next year. Also I hope the Bears don't ruin Fields as I was pretty high on him last year...

I get where you are coming from and I want Willis, but they are more equipped to develop him. He can sit behind Mitch this year and their staff is superior to ours especially head coach...
-
If they offer 3 firsts for him, it would be hard NOT to take it. Grab Howell, Corral, or Ridder in that order with their pick and you have all sorts of capital to trade up next year or two if they don't work out. If they do you have multiple first rounders to build around them.

If McAdoo is a high potential guy, he has to have Willis ranked highest. Rhule needs to win now so he must have Pickett ranked highest. It will be interesting to see if he listens to McAdoo or not... -
Not QB, but I remember UT had Alvin Kamara on their bench behind Hurd (who tried to play TE later).

Agreed, but if you are constantly getting pressured with little help it makes the QB try too hard to make a play. That's what I was referring to with "hero ball." It creates forced throws and QBs trying to run around and make something out of nothing which can lead to more sacks. Howell showed some of this last year, because it was the only way his team really had a chance. Run around trying to dodge defenders and throw to guys who aren't open. There is no doubt it has created some bad habits that can hopefully be coached out of him. Leaving the pocket too early, forcing throws, and running around holding the ball too long resulting in sacks are all habits I'm sure he has developed. Even when they actually have blocking their internal alarms are going off from the previous instant pressures.

I believe so abs he went to the same school as Cam and played in Cam’s 7v7 league.
-
He definitely needs some work I agree. I’m interested to see Corral tomorrow…
-
He did well against Virigina Tech who I would think has more talent than Liberty.

possession is 9/10ths of the law
-
I think Kyle can design a simple offense for him to run as he learns the ropes.
-
All the games I play are in my underwear.
-
Person just said he completed 64/69 pass attempts?? I'd love to have Trey Lance. Kyle traded 3 firsts to get him...

All ability and no work ethic/ability to read defenses gets you Jamarcus Russell, but the opposite can get you Teddy Bridgewater. You definitely need some elite traits in today's NFL. I like that Willis seems very positive, humble, and coachable. I also think that Pickett's arm is a little underrated (people are going to get triggered by that comment).
