  1. Isn’t naming sources bad journalism? A lot of sources that “leak” info like this would be pissed if their name got leaked and would stop giving info.
  2. No one wanted Darnold and we outbid ourselves for him. No one wants to give up this for Watson, but once again we will be outbidding ourselves…
  3. Ugh imagine trading everything for Watson and watching the Texans use one of our 100 picks we give them on a stud rookie like Stroud/Young.
  4. It’s what almost every other team in the league does. Think of a star QB and with a couple exceptions (Favre, Warner) the team they played for during their prime was the team that drafted them.
  5. And it really won’t set us back that much. If he busts then we draft another one in a few years…. It’s a easier/safer/cheaper option that can still get the fans excited. Plan B. Just sign a Mariotta draft OL and draft our guy next year. It’s not as exciting, will probably cost Rhule his job, but is the safest plan to successfully rebuild the team.
  6. Just. Draft. A. QB. It will cost us ONE 1st and little salary cap hit and none of them have pending sexual assault charges.
  7. Jimmy G to the Colts makes all the sense. They need a game manager, already have an OL, running game, and defense. The Saints make sense too.
  8. Why are we so afraid of drafting a QB? Last time we did it, it worked out good with Cam. Grier was a late 3rd so I don’t really think he was ever considered a potential starter.
  9. So we fix the team by worrying about the most important position next year while trading away our best player this year. Got it!
  10. Teams that have the best shot at a Super Bowl usually have no cap room. So the options are usually take a minimum contract for a chance to win a championship or get paid a decent contract with a clear shot at playing time and chance to make more money…
  11. Those are pretty rare and we would have to own the top pick to get one. Trading up for it would cost a small fortune.
  12. Corral is very talented, but he seemed to always be playing through injuries. He takes hits and doesn’t really have the frame to do so. Maybe he will change his style some in the NFL, but I kind of view him as injury prone before getting into the league. He has some of the better ball placement skills and is quick on his feet though. He is also a tough competitor (but that also led to him taking some hits).
  13. Meh, I don’t look too hard into rookie seasons for QBs. I think it will turn out to be a solid class.
  14. Then wait and do it next year. We should have done it last year.
  15. Yeah you need some blockers to run against P5 opponents. Also he didn’t play too many P5 teams right? He looked good against Syracuse and put on a show against VA Tech. Looked good against Syracuse a 2nd time (mainly throwing 200 yards 3 TDs 0 INTs). Looked bad against NC State and the first half of Ole Miss.
  16. You definitely don’t want to constantly run them. Have them keep the defense honest and his arm can make them pay. It’s more of a way to slow down the game for them while they progress as a passer. Russ Wilson does it right like you stated. He kind of stopped running as much as he got older. I feel like most of Cam’s injuries cam from the pocket when he wasn’t expecting it. Which brings up the point we would definitely have to build an OL for him, which is why I won’t be mad if we don’t draft one and select OL like you want.
  17. His arm is pretty spectacular. Seems to have a good head on his shoulder and is gifted at avoiding pressure/throwing off the run. I’m not 100% sure it’s going to be Rhule’s call. If the scouts/McAdoo are reporting he is the best of the bunch and Tepper hears it. Someone also mentioned Fitts wanting to sit with Cam. If he is interested in a mentor role, it would really be a nice scenario for a QB like Willis. You can even run a similar offense. Willis isn’t as raw as people are making him out to be. Does he need work as a passer? Sure. His passing stats in college look as good if not better than Lamar’s as a whole. A smart QB with a good work ethic that has a rocket arm and can run with the ball can be deadly in this league.
  18. I think you can work him in some plays and build an offense plan around his current skills like the Ravens did with Lamar his rookie year. Will there be growing pains? Sure, but that’s part of it.
  19. Willis and Fields both have high ceilings. Fields had the advantage of playing for a team loaded with NFL talent while Willis did not. That caused Willis to make some bad throws, play hero ball, and not develop as much as a passer not unlike Howell this past year. When I watch Willis’s games I see also a lot of Howell’s 2021 no OL blocking, running around trying to make something out of nothing. Out of the two I’d probably prefer Fields because he had better height and was further along as a passer, but I’m high on Willis’s potential as well.
  20. Willis would bring some excitement we haven’t had in a while. If he busts then at least we tried and the best time to try is a meaningless last year for Rhule.
  21. Hell even drafting Pickett at 6, will be the least damaging thing Rhule can do to this franchise at this point. Pickett may turn out good, if not our new coach can try again with his guy and either trade Pickett or let him be a backup.
  22. Yep it’s the easiest, cheapest, lowest risk move we can make at the QB position. So naturally we will try something else… Most fans will get excited about having a new young QB to develop.
