  1. Love the optimism, but a lot would have to go well for that to happen to us. We would have to fire Rhule and replace him with a coach better than Pederson (seems likely I agree), then find a QB that is better than Lawrence (he is still a bit of a question mark, but we have really poo the bed on QBs lately), and build our line ( which is very possible, only Jax is about to draft a high potential LT this draft). Also the Jags will be trying to improve their team in the meantime without having to worry about finding a QB.
  2. I hope Rhule isn’t allowed to trade any future picks…
  3. I definitely don’t think he is as good as Burrow. He has shown an ability to study film, work on himself and become much better than he was. His arm strength is average (similar to Burrow) and he go through his progressions while buying time in the pocket (like Burrow). Burrow is just wired different than an average QB. He rarely makes mistakes and stays calm under pressure. He is constantly working on becoming better (posted an article earlier on how he has increased his motion/velocity throwing from year one to two). If Pickett can be 75% Burrow he would be worth the pick.
  4. I can’t wait to see him on the field!
  5. https://amp.usatoday.com/amp/9301023002 https://borderfuelsports.com/blog/2021/11/02/kenny-pickett-the-next-joe-burrow/ Remember, I’m just the messenger…
  6. Or just maybe teams opinions change as prospects get scrutinized under microscopes and leaks get out on who teams above them like as the draft approaches?
  7. I don’t understand the hate. Most scouts agree he is a first rounder. Maybe 6 is high, but he is still labeled as a first round draft pick at the QB position.
  8. That’s fair, but that is definitely coachable and something he can improve on. It’s a pretty common issue for young QBs.
  9. Lol right? He is like the anti gunslinger.
  10. Gunslingers using have strong arms and will force some throws and throw some picks. You live and die by their arms. I always thing of Favre when I hear gunslinger. Usually strong arms that can let it rip on a moments notice. Burrow is a film room junky who will be the hardest working player on the team. (Just my opinion when I hear the word).
  11. Yeah I think people are just overreacting and freaking out about him being drafted by us at 6. I’m not a die hard Pickett fan, but I think he is a solid prospect who can start sooner than a Willis or Howell (2 of which I probably prefer for the long term potential). If he got picked up us I wouldn’t be upset.
  12. https://www.espn.com/blog/cincinnati-bengals/post/_/id/33304/how-joe-burrows-improved-velocity-could-have-bengals-thinking-playoffs?platform=amp He spent this past offseason working on his mechanics to increase his velocity. His arm strength was “always a knock on me” so he stated in this article. He is smart, clutch, tough as nails, but gunslinger isn’t really a word I would use to describe him. He is the closest thing to Brady I’ve seen honestly, but is a good bit quicker on his feet.
  13. Burrow just took out Mahomes and he isn’t the “gunslinger” Mahomes is. Is Brady a gunslinger? What about Brees? They need adequate arm strength and the ability to read a defense and make the right plays at the right time. Give me an accurate, smart QB with adequate arm strength over a gunslinger any day. I don’t know if Pickett is the guy or not, but he seems to be a guy that will study film and out in the time to get better like he did he previous year to get better. He showed he can put up great numbers and win against decent competition without any superstars on his team. His strength may be evading pressure and keeping his eyes downfield to make the right reads. That’s something we could definitely use on our team. There is a lot to like about him and some question marks (lack of production previous years). I’m not saying he is the man for the job, but he isn’t a terrible prospect.
  14. Pickett is actually an underrated scrambler who is one of the best at keeping his eyes downfield and throwing off the run.
  15. I know you are liking the 23 QB class. Will Levis out of Kentucky is another name to watch this year. He is tough and has a strong arm. Came on hit his last 5-6 games at UK.
  16. Corral has a great arm and grew a lot this year (cut down on his INTs dramatically). He plays tough and tries to extend plays taking unnecessary contact (especially for his grand). If he can cut down on the huts he takes he might be a solid player.
  17. They passed on Mac and Fields because they believed in Darnold. They know now they were wrong…
  18. Mediocre? I mean some people think 6 is too high, but if we were at 15-20 range it would line up fine. My point is he is still a first round QB by most analysts. He last season was nothing to shrug about. Reading defenses quickly and making the right decision is a very underrated skill. His arm is more than capable and he can extend plays with his feet. People are acting like he shouldn’t even be drafted at all. I mean when the biggest flaw scouts are finding is hand size, that tells me he is a pretty solid prospect. McDaniels is all about keeping Carr and that happens to be a favorable comparison to Pickett. I’m just saying IF we draft him which McAdoo and our new OL coach, it’s not necessarily the end of the world.
  19. Oh I don’t think Mac is a phenom or anything. He usually stays calm under pressure and goes through his reads quickly, things Pickett is known for. I also think Pickett has a better arm and is much faster than Mac. If we do draft him and Rhule fails, maybe our new coach can help him succeed in the NFL? I’m not a huge Pickett fan, but I also don’t think he is a terrible prospect that will never become a NFL starter like others are posting. Imagine actually having a guy that goes through reads quickly and can find Moore when he is open and not ruin the game with turnovers.
  20. If we take Pickett or a QB we kind of have to bank on BC at LT. Sign a solid FA Guard like Tomlinson or the guy from WFT. If we could sneak a mid level guy like Norwell that would be nice and draft a couple in the later rounds to compete with Brown. BC, FA, Elf, Brown/4th or 5th rounder/Moton with a better OL coach (as already stated) should be serviceable with some potential upside in the development of BC, Brown, rookie. It’s not great, but a huge improvement still.
