If Pickett is there, we need to trade down with the Steelers
Chiefzack replied to Chiefzack's topic in Carolina Panthers
How do we know the Bears did not contact the team either off camera or before the draft about moving the pick. Camp Confidential inevitability I'm sure had scenes cut out of it. I seriously doubt the Bears had zero interest in the Panthers pick but were suddenly willing to go get their guy at #11 for 2 1sts and a 4th and a 5th. -

Bears receive: 2021 first-round pick (No. 11 QB Justin Fields ) Giants receive: 2021 first-round pick (No. 20 WR Kadarius Toney) 2021 fifth-round pick (No. 164 traded to Broncos) 2022 first-round pick 2022 fourth-round pick For more background on the deal, click here. Why would the Bears give the Giants 2 1sts, a 5th, and a 4th for #11 but not give us the same (probably better) package at #8? This staff drooled over a CB we clearly didn't need and had no intentions of dealing that pick. I don't remember the report, but I also read somewhere multiple teams called us about #8 for that LT and Fields. No I can't prove it, but i seriously doubt the bears didn't offer us AT LEAST what they gave the Giants for Fields. -

They traded a 1st for a CB a couple years ago after Ben was hurt in the middle of the season. -
The Steelers have shown multiple times the tendency to throw 1st rounders away in the hopes of avoiding down seasons. Ben retired and they're falling in love with a college QB who is a hometown guy who played college ball at Heinz Field? Take advantage and get the picks. Last year we rejected 2 1sts and another top 3 round pick to draft Jaycee Horn who missed 90% of 2021. We take that deal, we have 2 1st round picks right now and having no 2nd or 3rd rounder is no big deal. No, I don't hate Jaycee as a player, ultimately we gave up multiple picks to get him, thats what I hated. No QB including DeShaun Watson is going to fix a 5-12 team with 0 top 100 picks (assuming the 1 top 100 pick we have is used on a QB) Let's say we get the Steelers to give us their 1st and 2nd in 2022 and their 1st in 2023... that fixes our top 100 pick problem in 2022 and gives us 2 1sts in 2023 to potentially grab a QB and offensive lineman. I get sick of us not accepting these huge packages for picks and 6 picks later someone gets 6 picks with 2-3 1st rounders for a player who ends up busting.

RB: Christian Mccaffery WR: DJ Moore DE: Bryan Burns S/LB: Jeremy Chinn RT: Taylor Moton LB: Shaq Thompson LB: Hasson Reddick CB: Stephon Gillmore (Assuming you mean 2021 roster) That's 8/22. CMC would start for 90% of the league when healthy. Let's not pretend both teams didn't just give up a combined 78 points... We need a O-Line and QB, not an entire roster revamp.

Predict what week Rhule gets fired next season.
Chiefzack replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Either end of season or first 5 weeks. Reason Tepper wants a Superstar OC is so he can fire Rhule and replace him instantly with no issue. -
I'm releasing my psls, but will still watch. I'll never change teams, but I'm not going to invest $2,000 a year in tickets when I can do that for $800 during bad seasons.
-
Does anyone have Tepper’s email, not Appaloosa
Chiefzack replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
They're trying to sell PSLs for lower level tickets, it will be THE BOTTOM of the league in attendance. The Hornets have a hard time selling their tickets with NO PSLS. -
I don't think anyone is insisting bringing Cam Newton back as the long term starter. We have no offensive line, so rationally the expectation would be forego QB in a QB weak draft and draft lineman, bring Cam back to start 2022&2023 and draft a QB in 2023. Let him sit under Cam in 2023, start him in 2024. I'd rather watch us suck with Cam then Sam or PJ.

The Bucs won't rest starters, will play to win
Chiefzack replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Carolina Panthers
There is a huge misconception that the 2 or seed "Doesn't matter." The 2 plays the 7, the 3 plays the 6, the 4 plays the 5.... #1 seed plays the worst of the 3 in the divisional round, then the best remaining seed hosts the other best. The #2 seed is still valuable because it ensures that at most you would have to win 1 road playoff game (NFC/AFC championship to get to the SB). The 3 seed essentially ensures you're only getting one home game as the 2 seed would have to lose to the 7 seed. -
We are DOOMED! Panthers expect Rhule back for 2022...WTF
Chiefzack replied to usmcpanthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
Matt Rhule gets fired, Snow refuses to coach, Rhules college roomate OC refuses to stay... Who coaches the team? We have to put a product on the field -

Chiefzack replied to usmcpanthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not even an option, we have to have someone to coach 2 games. If Rhule is fired, half the staff will leave on the spot. -
There is no physical way to fire Matt Rhule before week 18. Snow is undying loyal to him, Joe Brady is now gone, and we have a staff with the lowest NFL experience rate IN THE LEAUGE. Who is going to be the HC for the last four games if Rhule is fired? Rivera you had the Turners, Fewell (Who had already been an interim before), and a staff full of NFL experience, so while we lost all our games, we had a respectable enough product on the field.

If Rhule is coaching for his job, he might be calling plays

Jerry Richardson knew you didn't have to win it all, just some.
Chiefzack replied to Snake's topic in Carolina Panthers
Richardson had 2 teams in the Super Bowl. The 15-1 Panthers weren't a championship team? They just ran into a buzz saw that beat up the GOAT 2 weeks before. -
In my opinion, Rhule would have to go 9-8/10-7 AND make the playoffs to save his job. You don't fire coordinators in December when you're packing it in and playing for pride.

We are seeing the end of Cam's career
Chiefzack replied to Hayden Panettiere's topic in Carolina Panthers
My question is why is it nobody designs runs for this guy? Give me some triple option with Chubba, CMC, and Cam. This offense is so uncreative -
Matt Rhule 3rd year success (Does history repeat itself?)
Chiefzack replied to Leotiger's topic in Carolina Panthers
The 2020 Panthers look better then the 2021 Panthers who had an easier schedule. This same time last year we lost on the road to the defending SB champions when our kicker missed a potential game winning field goal. We lost 33-10 to the Dolphins today. We've clearly regressed Teddy Bridgewater made valid criticisms public about Matt Rhule who towards the end of the season threw Teddy under the bus. Teddy is known for being a quiet guy, who had nothing bad to say even about the Jets. He was angry about how things went here. He went to a bad Broncos team and has that team at 6-5 in the race for playoffs. Teddy Arguably had better talent last year here in Carolina. Even if Matt Rhule is not the problem, he's not been the solution, many times causing locker room issues. -
My thing is if he's thinking over whether to give one more year, he might be more willing to pull the trigger easier If he can get out at 50-60%. This guy uses coupons at fast food restaurants and makes his friends pay for him, don't be quick to assume he's ready to just burn 50 million dollars. 25 million maybe, but 50 million is a $HITTON of money.
-
I understand that we are not getting out from under the 100% guaranteed. What I'm wondering is did Rhules agent put a clause in where he gets paid 100% of the remaining contract if he gets fired? We might be able to get out at 50-60% if he took a lump sum if he has to take payments.
-
If Tepper decided to pull the plug after this season, a big consideration is Matt Rhule is due 5 years 100% guaranteed at $10 million... so 50 million If I'm not mistaken, those buyouts usually don't equal "coach gets a check" there's terms that usually say if terminated, you can accept this lump sum amount or get payments of the remaining balance over 10-12 years, but if you accept payments you cannot accept another job. I'm just wondering if Matt's contract is as iron clad as made out? Usually most coaches don't ever usually get 100% of that guaranteed amount unless they take payments, so they get a lump sum of 50-60%.

Tanking is not the answer for a QB, the Chiefs got Patrick Mahommes amid 10-6 to 12-4 runs. Hell, while the Texans are a dumpster fire, they got Deshaun Watson after a playoff season. The key to getting a franchise QB is ignoring the sexy media darlings and trading minor capital to get your guy between 10-20. I caught major crap for saying we made a mistake drafting Horn. I don't hate Horn as a player, I like the guy, but the opportunity cost of taking him was that huge package the 49ers took from the Bears to get Fields (we would've got more at #8). You take that package, take Jones with the Bears pick. If we do that, we would have 1. A rookie to compete with Darnold 2. 2 1sts in 2022. We don't need to tank, we need to quit playing like we're the Pittsburgh Steelers.
