  1. I was reading sports illustrated grading of our Morgan hire, and noticed a few tidbits from the 4 write ups. Seems that we may hire one of the other candidates we interviewed to work under Morgan as well. Schuyler Callihan: C+. I think Morgan has the chance to be really good in this role. He knows what it takes to win in Carolina and knows this roster better than anyone they interviewed. However, I think going with an external candidate would have provided a cleaner slate. There are some rumors that one of the candidates they interviewed will join Morgan in the front office and if that goes through, then this grade gets rounded up. Matt Alquiza: C+. I’m not going to pretend like I know the inner machinations of the Carolina front office, but it’s odd to me that they’re retaining Morgan. On some level, he has been involved in the disaster that the last few years have been. On the positive side, he has personnel director experience in Seattle and Buffalo, two well run, successful teams. It seems as if they’ll hire somebody with financial acumen to pair with his football knowledge. It’s a structure that can work, but I’m dubious.
  2. Morgan does not come across as a yes man in the slightest. I get your reservations, but maybe Tepper gives Morgan complete control of the program. If he does, I have faith that Morgan can build this team up.
  3. Call me crazy but I’ve never been a fan of Harbaugh being hired. He seems like a low key weird guy…..plus he wants heavy team control, whereas we are clearly going to be built under Morgan, not a head coach who has total control like Rhule did.
  4. I’m actually excited for this hire if he is allowed to make this team his own and Tepper stays out of it.
  5. Peppers showing love. I bet after what Tepper went through this year, he gives Morgan full power to make this team his own and to build it the way he see’s that it should be. If that’s the case, it’s a win for everyone.
  6. J stew and Peppers love the hire. I bet he is given the freedom to really run the team which is something we haven’t seen yet.
  7. Meanwhile no poster here REALLY knew anything about anyone being interviewed as a candidate, but hates on Morgan just because he was already employed here. As a former player who gave us everything, we should all come together now and hope for the best and root for the man. He was viewed as an excellent talent before coming here and as well as an up and coming gm candidate. I have a lot of examples where people have left here and had immediate success, we don’t even know what Morgan brings to the table yet, nor does anyone know his real responsibilities in his former role.
  8. I believe Scott really lead the college/draft side while Morgan specialized in existing FA but I still get your concerns
  9. ARTICLE: Could Kirk Cousins, Bill Belichick partner up with the Falcons? It’s not quite Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, but the potential partnership of Bill Belichick and Kirk Cousins seems a little odd on the surface. Maybe it isn’t. Appearing Thursday with CBS Sports as part of a media car wash, Cousins addressed the possibilityof playing for Belichick. “I have great respect for him as a coach, like everyone else in pro football,” Cousins told Isabel Gonzalez. “I mean, if you go to that many Super Bowls, win that many Super Bowls, go to that many conference championship games, have the defensive production he’s had for years and years, it says it all. “We played them last year on Thanksgiving night. And, once again, I noticed several times what he did coverage-wise was challenging and it was different. You always know when you play him that you’re kind of looking over your shoulder [and] wondering if what you’re seeing is correct. Because you know he usually is going to break the mold and do something different, and that’s part of what has made him a great coach.” So would he ever play for Belichick? “I’m not gonna turn down an opportunity to play with a future Hall of Fame coach,” Cousins said. “But we’ll have to see where March leads. It’s just a lot of unknowns right now.” The first unknown is whether the Vikings will try to keep Cousins, and whether Cousins wants to stay in Minnesota. With or without Cousins on the roster, he’ll count for $28.5 million under the salary cap for the Vikings in 2024. It’s also unknown where Cousins wants to live. As Peter King mentioned on PFT Live, Cousins’s wife is from Alpharetta, Georgia — and her parents still live there. That becomes a very powerful magnet, especially in combination with the attraction of playing for Belichick. As long as Matt Patricia and Joe Judge aren’t running the offense in Atlanta. And as long as Cousins doesn’t plan on telling Belichick that the quarterback won’t be working on Tuesdays. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/could-kirk-cousins-bill-belichick-partner-up-with-the-falcons
  10. Looking back, poo on all of you who poo’ed me lol. What a difference a few years makes in the NFL. So much has changed since 2021
  11. Agreed. Not GM selecting draft picks, but advisor on the team to help the young head coach s
  12. I’d take Bill in a major front office role. Throw the bag at him and let him build us into a respectable team with a young head coach and keep our DC.
  13. No, he’s free to sign with whoever he wants, hopefully the falcons.
  14. Just like clockwork, Tepper picks the best time to make the moves that he does. I have no doubt that we will make the worst pick possible, and be in this same spot 2 years from now, looking for a new GM, HC, and QB
  15. That wouldn’t look very good if he’s able to get a promotion but they could still do it
  16. I wonder if they plan on keeping Dan Morgan around in his current role being that he’s still under contract?
  17. It still blows my mind that we traded him and CMC instead of Burns. They would have been absolute game changers on this team for a long time. We couldn’t even score a single point the last two games……
  18. I agree. Kind of odd though that he said it to reporters though unless he was using it as a reason for the dip in production. It will be interesting to see what we do with him this offseason as Luvu and Brown seem like no brianer extensions, and we have around 57 million in cap space
  19. Article: The 2023 season wasn’t fun for anyone associated for the Carolina Panthers, even for a Pro Bowl alternate. Outside linebacker Brian Burns spoke with reporters following his team’s Week 18 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The standout pass rusher touched on how this campaign was a particularly tough one for him, especially considering that he was playing through it without any guarantees: Burns, who entered the season on his fifth-year option, was expected to receive a contract extension from the Panthers prior to Week 1. But that, surprisingly, never happened—as the two sides failed to reach a long-term deal. As Burns alluded to, the Carolina defense was dealt blow after blow early and often. The unit, at one point or another during the year, were missing the likes of fellow edge defenders Marquis Haynes Sr., Yetur Gross-Matos and Justin Houston, linebacker Shaq Thompson, cornerback Jaycee Horn and safeties Vonn Bell, Xavier Woods and Jeremy Chinn. Now, the two-time Pro Bowler, who amassed 8.0 sacks over 16 games in 2023, will enter free agency if the Panthers do not apply the franchise tag to him. Or maybe, just maybe, they can finally find some middle ground. www.pantherswire.usatoday.com
  20. I get what you are saying and I agree in a sense, but zero chance our QB room changes from Young and Dalton this offseason. I would bet my house on that.
  21. It would be a miracle to pull out 5 wins.
  22. We could use an upgrade at almost every position on the team, so anyone will be great. We should focus heavy on the side of the ball that could not score a single point over the last two games.
  23. “For me, everything is — I really do believe this — this league is set to be an 8-8 league,” Tepper said into the camera. “Everything is fair in this league.
