After we release Dalton tomorrow, who do we sign?45catfan replied to sonburst4's topic in Carolina Panthers He still has a year on his contract and as does Bryce. I have a feeling these two will still be your QB1 and QB2 going into 2026. This is why I can't get excited about this team...among many other things.

You had hope for this season? Not being the worst team in the NFL? I was hoping for that too.

After we release Dalton tomorrow, who do we sign?45catfan replied to sonburst4's topic in Carolina Panthers Yep, Dalton sucked, but the point stands that a backup forced into the main lineup and failing pretty bad in their first substantial action of the year as fans call for their jobs is pure overreaction.

While all what you said is true, this is Bryce Young we are talking about and what little Bryce wants, little Bryce gets. He wanted his wooby back so he can feel safe and secure.

Dalton is washed, but I don't think he's as bad as his performance yesterday. The reason they re-signed him is because he and Bryce have a good relationship, Andy knows his role is as the backup and he's not notably better than Young. In other words, he's a mentor who's not gunning for Young's starting spot even when Bryce himself has azz games or stretches of games.

"Stop overreacting. It's only one loss. The season isn't dead."45catfan replied to R0CKnR0LLA's topic in Carolina Panthers It's definition of insanity, seeing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. This is the David Tepper Panthers and until he sales the team or completely changes how he runs things, this is the product we get year after year.

The entire team sucked in all three phases. You don't need to watch the game to see that.

Our entire QB room is azz. Why single out one of them? Honestly Mike White might be the best one of them all and he was just signed off the street.

Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?45catfan replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft Mendoza getting sat again in the second half for running up the scoreboard. Three TDs passing, one rushing and a pick. The INT was a tipped ball at the LOS, not really his fault. Imagine his stats if he was allowed to stay in the entire game in these blow out wins?

Weekly Edition of Derrick Brown Tossing 300+ lbs. Men Like Nothing45catfan replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers Yeah, I lol'ed when people were talking about Brown's awful 3-cone time. A 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB, sure, 3-cone time has some merit. A 320 pound human isn't supposed to light on his feet. Those were the same folks that were saying under no circumstances should a DT get drafted in the top 10.

Bryce Young - High Ankle Sprain, out minimum 1 week45catfan replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers Lol, you don't have to convince me. The people needing to be convinced are Tepper, Morgan and maybe to a lesser extent Canales. Fans don't offer/decline/void contracts as you know. Tepper is crux of the dilemma. If Dave says Bryce gets the 5th year option, Bryce gets the 5th year option. I'm not sure where Morgan is on Bryce, but more and more I'm convinced Canales wants his own QB, but he's the low man on the totem pole in that hierarchy.

Bryce Young - High Ankle Sprain, out minimum 1 week45catfan replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers Murray. Jones, Tua etc... are perfect examples as to why you don't pay a guy like Bryce. These guys were mediocre and those teams took a losing bet that average would turn into greatness given more time and resources. Bryce will get the option, I'm convinced of it. Not because he's earned it with great play, but because the team has too much invested in him to cut bait any earlier than absolutely necessary. Short of him coming back from injury and going winless the rest of the season, Bryce will be our starting QB next fall. I don't like it either, but again, the organization is too invested to go in another direction unless the team goes into death spiral, which I don't foresee that happening.

Bryce Young - High Ankle Sprain, out minimum 1 week45catfan replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers Bro, he's getting another year whether you like it or not. It will be the '26 offseason before any long term decision is made on Bryce. The only thing that may get decided this offseason is concerning his 5th year option.
-
Yup. However, let him have one bad game before half the Huddle is screaming about moving him to guard again.

Lance is slated to be a FA if not re-sign. I know we have Dalton for one more year, but he's already got dead years on his deal, what's one more? Trey is only 25-years old and is in his 5th season. If with his original team (49ers) he'd be going into his golden ticket contract, but could be had at a bargain FA deal. All I'm saying is the dude is sill young, incredibly athletic, prototypical QB size and finally healthy. Kicking the tires is completely justified in my opinion. He's not replacing Herbert in LA, so he might opt to hit the open market instead of getting locked up early.
-
Any given Sunday, but yes, I would expect us to go 0-5. Even if we do win one of those, we probably drop a winnable game versus the Saints or Falcons because that's what we do.
-
I have to admit, I was on the Trey Lance wagon. While he's obviously not ever going to be a franchise QB1, I'm still curious about him as a bridge QB/QB2.
-
Yes, I do. He's worse than Young. I wasn't one of those in the Fields camp, though. Remember I wanted to wait to the '24 QB class instead of panicking and taking a QB in the marginal '23 draft? Yeah, QB6 in that class just reeled off a 33 point 4th quarter comeback win yesterday. A lot of people shat on Bo Nix as being a marginal system college QB. I think Williams will be ok, not a superstar, but an above average QB1. The incomplete grades are Penix and McCarthy--the first largely sat year one and JJ can't get on the field. The rest of that first round class is doing pretty good or balling.

The mental side of the game, hands and inability to stay healthy was/is his main problems. His athletic ability was never in question. Staying healthy is mostly luck...yes some things can mitigate injuries to a degree, but injuries are largely unpredictable. That part of the equation is what it is. Not being the sharpest tool in the shed, it was always going to take him a while to 'get' the NFL. I'm still not sure he completely does, but it does seem like he's progressing. My biggest frustration with him is his hands, rather is body tendency to body catch instead of snatching passes. If he can continue to work on that and know his playbook, I think XL can eventually be a solid WR.
