The mental side of the game, hands and inability to stay healthy was/is his main problems. His athletic ability was never in question. Staying healthy is mostly luck...yes some things can mitigate injuries to a degree, but injuries are largely unpredictable. That part of the equation is what it is. Not being the sharpest tool in the shed, it was always going to take him a while to 'get' the NFL. I'm still not sure he completely does, but it does seem like he's progressing. My biggest frustration with him is his hands, rather is body tendency to body catch instead of snatching passes. If he can continue to work on that and know his playbook, I think XL can eventually be a solid WR.

A starving dog is thankful for table scraps too. Yes, the winning streak is nice, but going from bottom dwellers to mediocre still isn't the long term solution. Enjoy the now, but don't lose sight of the future. Some of us know this is not a model that can sustain us forever nor deliver us a championship. Teams will eventually lock down our rushing attack. Our defense will lapse periodically. There will be a time where we need a QB to play 'hero ball'. We don't have that type of QB on this roster.

Our win woke Atlanta up. I imagine the second meeting will be different. Miami sucks, their coach may not have a job next week. Of those three Dallas was the only team I didn't think we had a chance of beating, but we did. On the flip side we lost to a pretty bad Cardinals team, so it washes.

Yeah, on the radio the other day they were talking about QB1 contract numbers. You have rookie contracts, FA contracts and second contracts for QB1. While certain FA QB contracts can be pricey, most aren't that steep overall. You have a QB1 going for his second deal, you had back up the Brinks truck. They went through examples and it didn't matter elite or not, those second contracts for a QB1 are eye-popping and cap bloating. They mentioned those QBs that got paid on those second deals had better be the type that can elevate a team because the cap, as a result, is too tight to put talent everywhere else on the roster.

Yup, the Bills offense is a tad better than the Jets....just a smidge. Dalton will be the scapegoat for having our winning streak snapped.

#1 overall pick that plays like anything but that. If Bryce was a mid-tier FA QB...say Samker Darnfield, his tail would have already been cut. Bryce's sunken cost is why Tepper is determined to make him work. Dave is going to try to file down that square peg determined to make it fit in the round hole. Anyone that sees Bryce progressing beyond what he is now is just wearing rose colored glasses. He's a low end-to-below average NFL QB. This is pretty much his ceiling. Leaning heavily on a League best rushing attack and a defense that finally can stop opponents while generating takeaways. Bryce's role now is to not screw it up. Not the inspired QB play it takes to win more than a few games versus trash opponents nor eventually make noise in the postseason.

Highest paid OL in the League, a pair of hot handed RBs and a pair of 1st round WRs. I have factored that in and now that the defense is playing much better, this team should be rolling...truly rolling. Yeah, I know, three wins, but the cushy portion of the schedule is over. Can Bryce lead this team to wins over quality opponents or will he simply keep relying on a heavy dose of our rushing attack and hope the defense continues to hold up?

Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?

Miserable? Nah. Encouraged? Nah. Doing back flips because we barely beat the worst team in the League? Nah. Emotionally numb to Tepper's Panthers? Absolutely.

Official Week 7: Panthers @ Jets Gameday Thread

And now the real schedule starts.... -
I hope Mendoza goes back to school, but chances are he's going to be QB1 in this class. If the Jets are #1, he might pull an Andrew Luck. The dude just gets it and I would hate to see a QB with so much potential go to a complete dumpster fire organization like that.
-
It could very well happen. Dudes are hungry for a win. In week 7, they haven't packed it up for the year just yet. Don't be sucked into the false narrative that the Jets have already quit. If the Panthers take them lightly, we may not get whooped, but very well could take a loss in an ugly game.

All I'm going to say is there any coincidence that Chuba started looking like a legit RB1 as this top paid OL hit their stride?

Good on Bryce taking advantage of a really bad pass defense. I just wen back and looked at his longer passes and ooh boy were these guys WIDE OPEN.

He was never as bad as many made him out to be. His main problem was staying healthy.

Eight of Bryce Young's nine wins have come off game-winning drives
45catfan replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes, and only one comfortable win. So we either lose or barely squeak out a victory 99% of the time. Brilliant! -
Super important. Bryce isn't a come from behind guy. The Dolphins game as a huge *, Bryce needs to play out front or at least be withing striking distance to be effective. I have no illusions he's going to become Baker Mayfield 2.0.

Good for him. Seriously...good for him, but before you go off the deep end, do the last 2-1/4 years.

Can we discuss how NICE today’s uniform were
45catfan replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Our best uniform combo, IMO. I've always liked the matching pants/jersey combos (regardless of the color) and the blue jerseys have always been my favorite every since the debuted. The black helmets makes the blue unis 'pop' more than the silver ones. -
It’s time to discuss DANimal Morgan as our GM
45catfan replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Mixed results so far. I like some things and others not so much. I'm not sure if last season was rookie GM mistakes, but damn he made some bad ones. This season he's done better. Let's see how this next offseason looks. -
We weren't drafting a high QB this year anyway. Unless Bryce looked like the absolute worst QB in the League, he was always going to get at least one more year.
