I still need convincing. We beat beatable teams at home and we struggle on the road. What does that equal? A below .500 team by season's end, but not the doormats of the League. It's nice to get some wins, but the long term outlook is still not too rosey, IMO.
-
Practically winless on the road. Perspective, man.

I was once told a conclusion can't be definitively be made without a proper sample size. Let's see how things play out. Thus far it's been good week, bad week, great week, meh week...in no particular order. Let's see if Bryce's performances get some stability or will he continue the roller coaster/whiplash games week-to-week. It's no secret that he's pretty good at home. Lets see how he does on the road versus the worst team in the League. That's not hyperbole, the Jets are literally the only winless team in the League.

Got to be consistent. If we can't poo a draft class because it's too early, we can't crown one by the same token. It's looking promising in the early results.

Best day as a pro by far. Kudos to Bryce.

A lot of us wanted us Skattabo. We knew we needed another RB and got Etienne.

Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?45catfan replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft Mendoza with another tough road win. Had stinker of a pick, but still completed about 65% of his passes and was able to move the offense in a hostile environment.
-
Yup. You don't even have to be Miss Cleo to see that happening either. He will end up getting us 4-6 wins this year, just enough that Tepper won't want pull the plug just yet and just out of reach of a top 5 pick for his replacement. Fug, more and more I feel like we are the Cleveland Browns south.

Only Bryce homers expect his trajectory arrow to point due North going forward. Every one else sees him for what he is...a backup or below average starter. If 4,5, or 6 wins is kosher with his fans, cool, but don't expect the people who have been here for every QB to don a Panthers uniform to settle for his notch above horrible ceiling. https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-qb-rankings-index-week-6-2025-nfl-season

Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?45catfan replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft Here's another. Sellers is not refined enough..yet.. to be #1 overall.

Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?45catfan replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft As we know, those rankings will only go higher...they always do. If all four declare and are 100% healthy while staying productive, they all will be in the top 10 by draft time. Count on it.

Lance is a FA after the season, so unless the Chargers lock him up before FA, then he's going to the highest bidder or where he has a chance to start. Neither of those are with the Chargers. BTW, he's only 24-years old. Only a year older than Will Howard and Shedeur Sanders that just came out this draft. He's also 3-years younger than Hendon Hooker who only has been in the League a couple of years. He's setting the Chargers back a mere $2M. Dude is athletic and got a cannon, but has to be more accurate while protecting the ball. I haven't seen him play in a few years, but judging by Mayfield and Darnold, some QBs need to bounce around the League a little while before finding their home. He was S-U-P-E-R raw coming out of college. he needed to stay another year, likely two before he came out in the draft. This is is the very player I point to when people pining over LaNorris Sellers to declare this year, Lance and Anthony Richardson. You can get by on shear athletic prowess in college football, but that crap doesn't cut it in the NFL. Players are just as big, strong and fast, so without the knowledge and fundamentals you will get exposed in the League. Lance found that out the hard way.

NM, I just saw the date on this thread. Carry on.
-
Woof, that's a rough list. I know UNC homers will bang the drum for Trubisky and Howell. The Colts ain't letting Indiana Jones leave. Again, slim pickings. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/_/year/2026/position/qb I'd take a swing on Tray Lance in a competition scenario.

When do we upgrade at QB, then? Or should we? We know Young is good for approximately 4-5 wins a year. This is what Tepper meant when not settling for mediocrity, apparently.
-
Yes, we will be just good enough to be out of reach of the top QBs. Then we will have to ride with Young once again and lustfully look at the '27 QB class where we will also be picking 8th only to miss out on that crop of top QBs.

Did the Panthers get Mike McDaniel fired now?45catfan replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers The Panthers are the lone bullet in the chamber of NFL Russian roulette. If you lose to us, it's over.

Official Week 5: Dolphins @ Panthers Gameday Thread45catfan replied to rodeo's topic in Carolina Panthers Even though this week's game is at home, I don't think we beat the Cowboys unless the defense can keep Dak rattled. If Dak gets dialed in, this thing could get ugly.

Official Week 5: Dolphins @ Panthers Gameday Thread45catfan replied to rodeo's topic in Carolina Panthers Something has to give, either we notch road win #2 in the Bryce young era or they get a home victory versus a horrible road team. If this game were in Charlotte, I'd give us the edge. Just like if the game yesterday was in Florida, there's no way we come back.

Official Week 5: Dolphins @ Panthers Gameday Thread45catfan replied to rodeo's topic in Carolina Panthers Oh yeah, if the Jets lose again this week, we are toast. They will be licking their chops. Atlanta in their house? Nah man, they rough us up down there even when we are good. Besides, they will have a HUGE chip on their shoulder from their beat down at BOA. I say the closest thing to a sure win the rest of the season will be the Saints in Charlotte. Outside of that, have a seat on the struggle bus, it's going to be a long season.

Official Week 5: Dolphins @ Panthers Gameday Thread45catfan replied to rodeo's topic in Carolina Panthers We're running out of home games versus trash opponents. I said after week 2 we got a stretch of 3 winnable games and the team better take advantage of it because it's going to be a long season after week 5. To their credit, they won 2 of 3. That being said, we realistically only match those wins the rest of the season now we hit the meat of the schedule. The Saints are getting better and sweeping them might not be as easy as it once looked. We still probably split the Saints and shock another team. That's all I'm seeing as far as wins.
-
This would be a .500 team with a competent starting caliber NFL QB.
-
I wanted McCarthy the first time he was available and was told by the Huddle "No more retreads" then we got Matt Rhule. FYI, of the 6 finalist, Rhule was my #6, so....
-
We are talking draft stock, not the end product of their careers Take the media's slobbering obsession over Sanders out of the equation...who went in the 5th round anyhow, and you basically had Cam Ward. Dart got a little love right before the draft, but yeah, it was not a much hyped QB draft at all.
-
Lol, whut? The 2025 QB class would like a word.
