  1. I get all of that. My problem is production, a one-year wonder whose stats are good, but far from eye-popping, especially for a top 10 prospect. He needs developing. We are not developers, refiners/tweaking--yes, but we suck at molding the raw athletic types from word go. Yet that what this front office drools over. I have to give Marty Hurney some credit, in the first round he always took BPA that was as close to Pro ready as possible. He at least waited until day 2 to find the development projects that rarely panned out.
  2. Me too, but Graham would a least make them pause for a second or two before turning the card in for Walker. The idea of Graham and Brown together is enticing, but probably not enough to kick Walker to the curb. Dude probably already has his Panthers draft day hat in hand.
  3. Not too sure about that. I've seen really recent mocks--since his Pro Day--where he falls completely out of round 1. So the idea of teams jumping at the opportunity to trade up for him is a probably a pipe dream.
  4. I realize that, but this was a while ago when McCord was projecting as a mid day 3 selection, obviously before Dalton re-signed. Also, I wouldn't take any QB from this draft in second round.
  5. Chinn was a S/NLB (Buffalo nickle) hybrid. Yes, it makes sense. Thomas Davis did it back in the day, but even he struggled even before the ACL injuries. Finally he settled in to LB and ditched safety altogether.
  6. Luvu was a FA that was coming into his prime. Yes, he hit his stride here, but we didn't draft and mold him during his first contract. So your comparison isn't exactly apple-to-apples either.
  7. Next year we draft a QB, PERIOD, either to replace or back up Bryce. It's FAR too stacked to completely sit it out.
  8. I was in favor of taking shot at Kyle McCord in the 5th, but he's jumped...BIG time. He may go as high as late 2nd! He's projecting in the Milroe/Ewers tier now.
  9. That's part of my problem, Walker is a 'tweener and we fug those guys up--royally. See Jeremy Chinn. Not only that, able to play two positions is very different than dominating at one. This isn't the OL where the ability to play multiple positions is seen as a plus, or even a requirement.
  10. This Carson Schwesinger's season stats: CRUSHES Jalon Walker's production that happens to be a second round prospect high second, but day 2 none-the-less.
  11. I'm not sold on Walker. I don't dislike the kid, but I think #8 is too high for him.
  12. There will be an early run on OTs, IMO. Sanders falls. How far? How about I'm seeing recent mocks having the Steelers drafting Dart at #21 WITH Sanders still on the board. I'm telling you, I saw just some snippets of Sanders Pro Day and it looked like he was throwing a medicine ball instead of a football. Very little zip and the ball looked oversized/cumbersome to throw.
  13. Raiders are the only wildcard. Jets are going Warren or OT BPA with an outside chance of Tet. They are drafting someone to help out the QB, period, either in pass pro or a receiving outlet. Raiders are looking hard at Jeanty, but no telling what they do.
  14. Walker going before #8 will not happen, 99.99% sure of it. I would be completely shocked. Then again I would love it because that would mean someone else would fall. *Edit: I went to see where Walker was selected in 350 professional mocks (back to mid February) going higher than #8 and it was RARE. The few instances I found were older and a few time to the Jags, Raiders and Jets each.
  15. It seems the only way we don't draft Walker is if Graham somehow falls. Outside of that, might as well FedEx that man a Panthers jersey now.

    Rumors

This is my point, especially at #8--Wlaker versus Beason and Keuchley (tackles not recorded for Morgan):

    Rumors

I'm seeing Walker in many, if not MOST, of the more recent mocks for the Panthers. Here's my problem, He's not a tackling machine and that's what you want out of an ILB. He's a 'tweener. Are we playing him inside or outside? Sack production is 'meh' for the outside, not so much a QB terror and inside he's not a ball hound. This is culminating to be a typical Panthers pick. You see how 'tweeners end up here with the mismanagement of Jeremy Chinn.
  18. We might as well start scouting the Mr Universe contest. Great physical specimens with literally no football accomplishments.
  19. More and more mocks have us going Walker. Almost a consensus now in the greater mocking community. I don't hate the pick, but I am FAR from loving it. Seeing some mocks having us even taking him over guys like Tet, Warren or Graham (spectrum of mocks, not a singular one) if any of the three were to fall. I'm as lukewarm on him as room temperature milk. Not a complete turn off, but far from overjoyed.
  20. Gotta outscore the opponent, so it makes sense to me. Again, I'm all for Graham if he's available, but if not, we can get a mediocre pass rusher/3rd down specialist in the 2nd round. None of the Edge guys after Carter are close to generational, heck Carter himself isn't that and he's the clear and unquestioned #1 Edge prospect. So do we take a A-/B+ prospect at Edge just because we need it or take a A+/A TE or WR and solidify a group missing that one last piece? There's an old adage that goes kinda like this: To cover up a weakness, make your strongest asset(s) even stronger.
  21. If he's a RAS warrior (minus the height), then you know Morgan's gibblets are all tingly.
  22. In a WAY trade back, then possibly. I'm talking around pick #20. We had better get a massive haul for moving back that far though. Knowing us, it will be for like 3rd and a conditional 7th.
  23. A difference maker every down, not a situational pass rusher. The most Panther thing we can do is draft Brian Burns 2.0--anywhere from 0-2 splash plays of production a game. In no particular order, I want (realistically may still available at #8): Warren, Tet or Graham (a 3 down D-lineman)
  24. Blowing it will be drafting a mediocre pass rusher at #8 and that's the way we seem to be leaning. Blowing it seems to be inevitable, actually, now I think about it.
