What I haven't understood through all of this is why we haven't done a better job of protecting the high risk.  Even with the total shutdown you still had a tremendous amount of high risk people working in "essential" business.

Seems like if you did a better job of removing those from the equation you could let everyone else go back to work/play normally and your net deaths would possible go down, especially with mask and social distancing.

Because you can't lock up the sick, the elderly, people with health issues, etc. just because you want to "play normally". That's not the way the world works. You want to go back to work? You want to play? WEAR A MASK. If everyone wore a mask from the start we wouldn't be where we are. But the youth, and the anti-mask people have kept the pandemic afloat.

Simple question: If someone said, yes, you can go back to work. Yes, you can go to the club, and the bar. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is wear a mask. Would you wear a mask? So odd that some people still wouldn't.

It absolutely costs tax money and resources every time he plays golf or his son takes a trip to go hunting an exotic deer. Someone has to pay for all the food, room, room service, SS salaries, police escorts, extra security. That poo adds up dude.

I could Google it. But has anyone ever done the stats to see how much it costs each person individually? 328.2 million in the US. I'd hope they all pay taxes. SO ... break it down. How much does all that stuff cost ... me. I'm not arguing that stuff doesn't get paid by us, I'm saying it's miniscule. Sort of like when someone gets mad at a cop: I PAY YOUR SALARY!

  3. Sure, he's a hypocrite. But I think most people overestimate what our presidents do. All of them. They have scores of underlings that do the real work. A president is more of a facade. If our presidents truly ran our country we'd all be dead. I'd much rather that goofball play golf than make decisions about COVID, lol. Let the real team make choices. As for "tax payers money", it's not costing you next to anything. Everyone should stop using that line.

In Event 201 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation + The Johns Hopkins University, the simulated Pandemic Preparedness Exercise happens identical to what is currently happening ..

In Event 201, states open up too quickly and a second wave worse than the first ends up happening and things shut down again ..

Event 201 .. it was October 18th 2019 in NYC .. the same day the Military Games in Wuhan, China began

Event 201 ... isn't that a class at UNCC? Like where you learn how to throw a sophisticated pool party?

The wask wearing, where I live/work/play (Nags Head), is surprisingly really high. Granted Dare County just went into mandatory mask wearing this past Sunday. We, also, have a really high number of out of towners this time of year. As much as I bitch about the northerners, this time of year, I salute those now.

My (healthy 42 year old) experience with, what is believed to have been cavid-19, was HORRIBLE!!! 2ND sickest I have ever been. Total loss of smell and taste, sky high fever, red rash over the top of my left foot toward my 3 small toes, so congested in my head and an absolutely horrible lung condition for 5 weeks total starting Feb. 7th. Woke up to sneezing eight times at 3:00 am Feb. 7th, worked that next week, stayed home the next week, went back to work the week after (felt pretty good, until Friday), that Saturday night at 9:00 pm my fever spiked (1st time I had a fever), the whole office had to close the next week, as everyone was sick, then the next week I worked feeling like crap. Also, add being sick either with diarrhea or throwing up off and on throughout this 5 weeks. My whole family got it and I infected everyone I work with, all who got tested for the flu and were negative. MMM. Covid-19 earlier than they were saying that it was in the US? Crazy how I remember so much about this past sickness.

Sorry for the poo sentences, I don't feel like fixing and I have a few beers in me. Cheers everyone!

  6. NYC went into Phase 2 yesterday. I'm going to be interested to see how our numbers do in a few weeks. We currently have falling numbers and are one of the best places in the nation for cases. But if it happened everywhere else that opened for the most part, I'd imagine we'll get a spike.

Yeah. By wearing masks and practicing social distancing.

    This.

Some people are living in fantasy world. They want to basically lock up the elderly and people with conditions. Like a zoo. So they can go maskless and "get the economy running again" and go to the bar and make life normal again. Well ... what about the freedom of the elderly and people with conditions? Do they not get a life? Yes, they need to be cautious. And you know what will help them out with that? Look up at the quote.

Some folk act like wearing a mask is as bad as paying taxes, going to the dentist, moving, and [insert other annoying things here]. It's a thin piece of cloth. Get over yourself.

  8. I don't get what's SO bad about wearing a mask. It's a thin piece of cloth. You were probably that some tool in high school in shorts and a t-shirt when it was 30 degrees outside, or as a kid refused to wear a jacket.

And to Wes ... they'll simply enforce it by asking you to leave or not letting you in. No need for police unless you refuse to leave. And not to mention they don't have to serve you. I guess if you're quick enough you can go to self checkout lol.

  9. Minorities here have suffered horribly. His wife is black. They have two kids together. His daughter got arrested protesting. He strikes the GOP with every chance he gets. He and Cuomo hate one another. Bill would be last on the list of trying to scam the system.

That said, he's also a huge schmuck and I hope his reign as mayor ends soon. He's not objective at all.

  10. Thinking de Blasio, one of the biggest liberal goons on the planet, would allow for the deaths of his residents for the sole purpose of the dolla dolla bill is rather funny to me.

I still think NYC screwed it up for everyone. Also giving increased incentives to treat coronavirus patients, I think the system got scammed....BADLY.  You can't look at NYC death figures and then look at every other city/state and say it looks normal.  Just dismissing it because of their large population is being very short-sided.  I would like to say their incompetence was due to ignorance, but unfortunately it was more than likely malicious.  Washington State/Seattle never got that bad and they were ground zero for the virus.  Chicago, LA, Detroit, DC, Dallas, Miami...this list goes on and on, none of these large cities experienced the same rate of death, so large populations isn't the main factor here.   Greed and politicization is at the core or this.  I really hope De Blasio gets thrown in jail once exposed.   Cuomo is culpable too.

Do you believe 9/11 was an inside job?

Checkout the videos of NYC from this past weekend. Maybe 5% mask usage in these big street parties.

    Of all the places....

    Trust me, we're wearing masks.

Those videos you saw were from "happy hour" streets in the Village and SoHo full of young, mostly liberal, fairly well off douchebags drinking their craft beer and wine. They just HAVE to be seen. Go a WEEK without drinking with Chad and Sara? ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
