Why not just try to draft some solid football players ya know? The roster is completely empty. I'd rather have the Amazon Basics version of a WR or DE than some 24 year old Make A Wish kid that never did a thing in school but be tall. In baseball you don't score a lot of runs by trying to hit every pitch out of the park. You get on base. And then you keep getting on base. And then when the pitch is right, you swing for the fences and bring everyone home. Our drafting strategy doesn't get anyone on base. Everyone they draft is a long shot. It's ok to have some picks like that, but you only get the luxury of those picks once you have a solid foundation.

We are so weak at the position I really felt like taking a higher floor, lower ceiling type prospect made more sense. It's why I wanted Ladd McDonkey. Maybe he won't translate well to the NFL, but the roster is so bare a solid contributor would be a big help.

Peak Smitty could get his with a punter at QB. Remember when they put like 7 guys on him in Seattle and he got so pissed he took a kick back for a TD?

God forbid we have someone on the team that can run routes.

I just hope he doesn’t get injured. If he goes down week 1 or 2 that would suck. We need to see him play the year out. Or at least the meat of it.

I agree. His demeanor definitely comes across are more apathetic than cool and level headed. The case of the missing dawg.

Some of those are later picks, so it's not really fair to throw them in the same conversation as 1st and 2nd rounders. But yeah it's pretty bad.

Dink and dunk passing game with a power run game is like a boxer that can only jab. At some point you have to be able to connect a real punch. They better be able to wear teams down with the run game or its going to be unwatchable again.

We have been drafting Keary Colberts and Dwayne Jarretts for 20 frickin years. Also remember Drew Carter from Ohio St? He's going to be healthy this year and blow the top off the NFL.

I'm most interested to see how Icky does. He should be in a much better situation and hopefully asked to play to his strengths. Bryce is overshadowing everything but this is really a make or break year for Icky. Great post OP

I can’t see the Jets winning. That only happens if Mahomes is on IR and a number of other bounces occur in succession. Rodgers best match was the 49ers. That team needs a veteran QB that can win. It would have been a good story too.

There’s luck involved but it helps if you aim at the correct spot. Poker is literally gambling but people can become good at it. Saying the draft is a crapshoot doesn’t really excuse taking a RB in the 2nd anymore than it does taking a kicker in the 3rd

Chinn will either figure it out and be incredible or he'll be out of the league within 5 years. I don't know that there's any in between. His coverage skills are replacement level at best. But he has big potential as a honey badger type.

2015 alone is better than any season Jets fans have experienced since 1968.

The Teddy Bridgewater signing was under Hurney and it was the same sort of deal. Definitely points to Tepper pushing for a QB as soon as possible.
