Legette vs Buffalo (all routes all-22)
PNW_PantherMan replied to *FreeFua*'s topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it just used to take WRs longer to adjust, because the pro and college games were so different. Hardly any team's ran a "pro" offense, and back then that meant running out of the I formation and poo. The NFL and college offenses have never been more similar, and the main difference now is the speed of the game and the talent of the players. -
This was Frank Reich last year.
-
He doesn't have that dawg in him.
-
I'm sure there's things to go over, but honestly it was all we could ask for IMO. That's a confidence building TD drive. I honestly believe that last year's offense led by Frank Reich would have gone 3 and out or at best struggled to get a FG on that drive against Bills backups. It's something to build on going into the regular season.

Bryce made a name for himself at Alabama pulling rabbits out of his hat on broken plays like that. We actually have some receivers now that will drive to the sideline and adapt to a broken play. I did not expect that throw to work, but he dropped it in there almost perfectly. I'm now much more optimistic about how the offense will look in the regular season. The scheme seems better. Receivers are getting open. The pass protection is improved. Bryce's footwork and pocket depth is better. He doesn't have a howitzer of an arm, but when he throws off a proper platform he has enough.

I'm with The Fan guys that this was a 10/10 drive. It doesn't need to be picked apart to this degree. You can say there's mistakes or it wasn't completely perfect. But given the circumstances, this was their first and only drive of the preseason... what more could you ask for? I don't think many of us expected it to go that well.

I'll probably check it out from boredom, but sometimes it feels like he's a defense attorney instead of just giving a straight up review of the performances. That probably wouldn't be a very successful YouTube channel though. It's not just us. I've noticed it on other QBs he covers as well. Edit: Another way to say it is I would prefer if he let the tape tell the story, instead of him showing the tape that tells his story.

I was subscribed, but I unsubscribed midway through last year. He's a little too biased for me, and picks out plays to support what he's trying to say instead of taking a more random sampling. Not saying he's wrong about everything he says, but I don't like the angles he takes.

I’m kinda hesitant to watch this after his takes last year. Guy had a hate boner for the only hands on the team.

Our play by play guy even says here "Mandate for Young: Throw to the first open receiver"
-
I still can't get over how much better he looks standing in the pocket. He's a little bouncy, but it's miles beyond last year. How Frank and Co didn't work with him on that is beyond me. If you drop back 5 yards out of a shotgun, it's really hard to protect. Maybe it's a combination of better coaching and better interior pass protection. But the results are night and day, at least from this drive.

I'd rather see him take what the defense gives him, and play within the offense. That Theilen pass wasn't a checkdown or anything. It looks like that's how the play is designed. If we start seeing him throw to covered running backs while a WR is running free downfield, I'd start being concerned.
-
Dropping back an extra 5 yards didn't help. From what we saw so far in the preseason, it looks like they've been working on that. Although, that clip looks more like accuracy than arm lacking power to me.
-
I got XL's yards right. What do I win?
-
Feels like they tried to give him some chances to pop off late in the last game. Usually that means they're trying to give the guy some good tape before he gets cut. Just like the RB the game prior. I think if anyone called, he'd already be gone. Some other team will probably call him in once he's a free agent.

The WR position - what 6 do we keep

I would also add that AT didn’t sign here to win. He got frustrated because we were bad, but he signed here for money. It’s that simple. -

No reason to cut him now. We have no idea what we have at WR beyond him. We're just hoping that these guys can figure it out. If we see some strides from Mingo or XL, I'm cool with offloading him. But let's not leave Bryce on his own after what happened last year. Just my opinion on it. -
The upside to having Plummer on the PS is nobody would claim him.

Theilen could fall off a cliff overnight. He's around that age. He might be decent trade bait towards the deadline.
