QB School: Bryce Young vs Falcons
CarolinaRideorDie replied to thunderraiden's topic in Carolina Panthers
JT loves Bryce, but he offsets it by sh*tting on Theilan every chance he gets. It's got me wondering, did Theilan steal his prom date in high school or something? He's got a personal vendetta against him for some reason. -
A Perspective of the Roster (Red Meat to chew on)
CarolinaRideorDie replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Bryce needs an alpha at WR or TE. If Garret Wilson is really upset and wants to leave the Jets, you gotta at least inquire. With the emergence of Bowers, Vegas may be willing to part with Mayer. He was a highly touted TE coming out in the draft. Lots of older superstar diva WR to consider in Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill but they would probably prefer Super Bowl contenders. Off season for the defense will be really interesting. I'm expecting at 8 or more new defensive players to be signed this off season. -
QB School: Bryce Young vs Falcons
CarolinaRideorDie replied to thunderraiden's topic in Carolina Panthers
I like JT's film breakdown. He doesn't just evaluate Bryce's plays and decisions but he talks a lot about Canales scheme. Compared to Reich's year, Canales is a way more creative play caller, there's numerous times JT has said Canales has "schemed him open." He also evaluates the WR/TEs, this is a young group and they are all learning just how to play the position, to see Bryce play well with them is a testament to his skill. This offseason has to be about giving Bryce an alpha go to weapon, a veteran presence. Every Mahomes needs a Kelce/Hill, Rodgers/Adams, Brady/Gronk, Burrow/Chase. Let's get Bryce his alpha and he'll be a top 10 QB next season. -
What's your confidence level in Canales?
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
7/10. Canales was brought in to do one thing and one thing only, fix Bryce Young and so far he has shown that he can get Young to perform better. He is an offensive mind and his schemes do work. He just needs to be a more complete HC and also manage the defensive side of the ball too. I feel like he just let Evero do whatever he wants with play calling and weekly game plans. If Evero does leave for another job, I think he needs a former HC (ex. Saleh) to be a defensive coordinator. Andy Reid and Spagnulo has made it work in KC. -
I think Baalke has actually done a nice job of acquiring talent which the Jags do have. They hit a home run with Brian Thomas Jr, Travon Walker is trending up, I think Lawrence is overrated but he has shown flashes. A GM's job is to acquire talent, it's the HC job to make them perform.

If Graham is gone, fo you take Carter?
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Carter or Mason Graham are taken before #8, another name to keep an eye on is Walter Nolen, good DT from Mississippi. Maybe trade back to get Nolen. -
As much criticism we give Tepper for firing quickly, can you image the Giants fanbase hearing that Mara will keep Daboll and Schoen after that disaster of a season? Especially with them being on Hard knocks and letting Saquan walk because he isn't worth it and won't rush for 2000 yards. Schoen actually saved the Panthers from paying $28 mill per season for Brian Burn's 8 sacks. I prefer an owner who knows that something isn't working and firing quickly than wasting time on something that isn't.

I think Coker is an example that sometimes we place too much emphasis on physical talents and not enough on technique. Everyone wants to draft a freak athlete, but sometimes they forget to just draft a good football player. I don't think Coker tested well or was even invited to the combine, but he just knows how to play football. I'm sure Theilan doesn't run the fastest 40 but he still makes plays and beats opposing CBs for TDs.

if some of the blue chip players are off by our pick, I like the idea of trading back a little and picking up Malaki Starks. We do need safety help, it's just that no safety is worth a top 10 pick based on value, but his talent is undeniable.

So, apparently if the Vikings win, the Panthers get the #7 pick? Go Vikings!! I just don't trust in Darnold to win it.
-
Honestly, I moved to NC around the year 2000, so I don’t remember any panthers history before that. Julius peppers was my first memory of a Panthers draft pick, but I do remember that he had a hell if a name!
-
That was very surprising, didn't even get to Black Monday. Rumors were that he was really hard to get a long with. This time last year, he was the perfect man for the job in NE.
-
I think he is right in the sense that he stopped meddling with football decisions and actually let football people work. You can still somewhat blame him for our historically poor defense, he denied Evero from interviewing for other jobs, Evero staying on with staff is his decision. I hope he knows to let Dan Morgan decide moving forward.
-
Not just Dan Morgan needing a big offseason, but also Brandt Tilis. Let's see him work his magic with the salary cap and contract structuring.

Overall, I think the Panthers hit my personal expectations. All I asked for was... - Bryce to shows signs of progress and look like a legit franchise QB, which he has done. -Score points and make it competitive, Bryce's rookie season was terrible to watch. We were just hoping for 1st downs. Even though we complain of this historically poor defense, at least we kept watching knowing that Bryce might lead a TD drive. -5-12 record was reasonable. -Defense was surprisingly bad, I knew that we lost talent and weren't going to be a very good unit, but damn, to give up the most points in NFL history is just terrible. I feel like we finally are trending in the right direction after so many years of restarting, but we still have a long ways to go. Prediction for next year is to at least finish with a winning record 9-8 or better.

If I was Dalton, I would resign to be a backup and hold a clipboard. Dude is collecting checks telling Bryce that he is doing a good job and practicing football M-F, who wouldn't want that dream job?
-
I think it's also HOW this win occurred mattered a lot. Having a 5 TD game by Bryce, winning in OT, and winning on the road (which panthers haven't done in a while) matter more than 2 draft spots. It'd be different if it was just a field goals game and a low scoring game with Bryce looking poorly, then I'd had wish that we would lose instead.
-
Jordan Gross, CMC, Horn were all #8 picks. We can definitely still get a difference maker. Mock draft season is finally here!

Any rumors about the Panthers? Tomorrow's Monday will be quite interesting. I do believe Evero will be allowed to interview for other teams or even fired.

Just took a look at other games, Jacksonville is tied, pats winning. Maybe we should lose? Bryce throws another TD and then you sit him.
