He's going to the Jets. Randall Cobb is also going to the Jets. Packers East.

This. Y'all need to watch what that dude says. Personally I think he's a fraud, but I'm also a really skeptical person so

Thank god. This was important.

Beyond size/durability concerns, what questions are you seeing regarding Young?
-
Which of these FA WRs would you want to go after?
Luciu5 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's no reason not to draft one though. I fully expect us to sign a mid tier WR and TE for this year. Vet guys who are reliable pass catchers. Guys who may not be explosive or shifty, but reliable when the ball goes their way. It would be great if Tremble took a step forward. I'm also looking forward to seeing what Jefferson can get out of TMJ, Shenault, and Smith. It is possible with this staff that we have some answers on the roster, though I wouldn't go into the season banking on that. -
I wouldn't say that. I've watched a bunch of both and to me Young can do things that Stroud either can't or won't. Some of the throws he makes, it's like you can't teach that. Full field reads. Not just one play, but all over his tape. Hardly any of that in Stroud's tape. Young is the clear cut number one QB in this draft without any question, if it wasn't for his size. All that said, Stroud is no slouch and wouldn't mind him, but Young is the safer pick in a lot of respects, besides size. Stroud struggles with pressure, which Young just avoids it easily. Young doesn't lower his eyes like Stroud does. Stroud takes sacks while Young turns a negative into a positive. Stroud stays on his 1 receiver too long and doesn't go through his progressions quickly enough - meaning either slow processing or indecisiveness. A lot of these negatives are coachable. Personally, I think I've actually talked myself into Young. I think I would take the injury risk. Barring career ending injury, I think Young will be an elite QB in the NFL. I think Stroud will possibly become an elite QB in the NFL.

This is where I'm at as well. To me, a good TE>WR for a rookie QB. Also, in this draft we should be able to get a premier TE at 39 vs a 2nd or 3rd tier WR. They will need to target a WR in the 3rd or 4th with upside, as well as get a FA WR.

I don't think it's a collusion thing either, but really what does that matter? If 31 owners came out and said, "hey we all agree and we aren't doing fully guaranteed contracts for QBs now or ever," as far as I know, they wouldn't be breaking any laws, it's not a discrimination issue against anyone, the NFLPA wouldn't be happy about it, but other than arrange a strike, they can't do poo about it. This wouldn't be the same as two companies colluding to inflate prices of commodities, as I do not think each team is looked as an individual entity, it all falls under the NFL. Idk, I get players wouldn't like it, but I don't see a problem with "collusion" in this case or a reason to hide it, other than PR.

They don't want to do the Ravens dirty work for them. They should have did an exclusive tag and tried to trade him. THEN they would have had suitors.

Take Stroud - Trade Back Into First Round for Jaxon Smith-Njigba?
Luciu5 replied to tukafan21's topic in Carolina Panthers
true, but if Cardinals are going defense, 2=3. It would be the same situation as moving to 2, but with higher compensation. -

I think trading down to 3 is more likely. If the Cards think we'll get a massive haul that would be difficult to refuse from someone to move up for Anderson or potentially Carter, then they might want to move up to make sure they get their guy. Overall, I'd say a trade down to anybody would be unlikely. -
Bye DJ! Love ya but ya gotta do what ya gotta do to get a QB.

This may be the dumbest topic I've ever seen.

He's not going to come cheap enough for anyone here to be happy with this.

I wanna bring back Bradberry.

Panthers are now the betting favorite for the #1 pick
Luciu5 replied to Martin's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is kind of a given. If the Colts are offering 3 firsts to move up 3 spots, it would probably take us about a bajillion picks to move up from 9. Most likely they can get at most 2 firsts from the Colts. From us, there are a lot of options. We could do 3 firsts and 1 second this year. Or 2 firsts and a haul of picks this year. The Bears need a lot of players, and I can see them passing on the very, very top tier talent for a load of picks. allowing them to do a 1 offseason overhaul. -
CrownNClaw was legit. He kinda gave a heads up on several hires a day or two it being official. He clearly had inside info. Even gave Duce Staley's official title days before it was announced. This Leaky Faucet guy, talks like he's in the know, but hasn't said anything to confirm it's not just all fiction. He hasn't broken any news before the news broke the news. I take everything he says with a grain of salt because there just isn't a way to confirm he's a legit source.

Even if we aren't interested in Rodgers, it's possible we are more checking on how hot Carr will be. If Rodgers is available, Carr has less suitors and there is less pressure on the Panthers to make a decision quickly. If Rodgers isn't available and Lamar isn't available, then Carr is the #1 QB in this market.
-
Fournette asked to be released. Wanted to be available beginning of FA. Was probably getting cut either way.
-
If Lamar goes to ATL, that becomes another team above us definitively in the hunt for a rookie QB.

‘Draft Qb. Panthers can own the South’ Dan O.
Luciu5 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
One thing Dan O said when talking about being close to joining the Panthers, he said "I like their plan at the QB position". It's hard to say how much insight he has from the interview process, but clearly enough to know the direction the team wants to go, and he approves of it. Is he just reinforcing what he already knows they want to do?
