  1. I don't think there would be any correlation of Wonderlic scores to this test. Like, completely irrelevant. That's like saying someone isn't going to do well on their vision test because they bombed their SAT.
  2. Carr is fine. Top half of the league guy currently. We will win games with Carr. That will be fun to watch winning football. He'll never get us to the super bowl. We will pick 18-28 every year. We won't have any hope of a franchise QB until after he moves on or retires. Panthers will continue to be a media afterthought.
  3. I'd say the "I'm BACK" Cam could be on that list. Some of these guys were great QB's, namely Rivers and Ryans. They were just past their time. Rivers wasn't even bad in Indy, he was just looking for one more shot at a title before retiring. But, that list is all retreads who were busts, middling, or past their time. Which looks a lot like our options at FA QB's this year. Lamar Jackson is the ONLY possible QB and he will cost 2 firsts AND a giant contract. I'd rather we trade up for a rookie at that point. Why pickup someone who you know is going to fail to win you a Super Bowl. I'd rather have a chance than no chance. Drafting a rookie is possible to get a franchise guy. What is available for FA or trade this year, you will be hard pressed to find a franchise QB that route.
  4. You know that saying though..."11th time's the charm!"
  5. It's only stupid if it fails. Trading up to #1 is not destined to fail. You can't play scared. A lot of folks round here complain how we aren't aggressive enough on the field. But off the field, some people completely lose that menality. I don't understand it. Playing it safe has failed over and over again for the last 3 years. I think Reich and crew will do much better, but without the guy at QB, we aren't winning a SB. That guy isn't going to fall into our laps. Is this the only way to get that guy? No. Is that guy available to fall into our laps? Right now the choices appear to be Carr, Rodgers, Jackson. I think Rodgers is the best shot, but he's a nutcase so who knows now. The other two are unlikely to win super bowls based on their past history. I think it comes down to what is the goal? For me it's Super Bowl or bust. If it's back to back winning seasons, then a retread will be fine with this staff. Still spinning our wheels though, just at a different level.
  6. If you whiff on a pick, you move an asset in the future. Would it suck losing Chinn, Brown, Burns, Horn? Yes. But you can get a haul for a single guy. Turns into a bit of a rebuild scenario. If you never try, you will never succeed. You have to shoot your shot. No year is perfect. I believe this year is our best year. I see a lot of 9-8, 10-7 years in the future otherwise, with no shot at a top QB. Time to stop the QB carousel for a few years at the very least.
  7. 49ers disagree. They probably aren't going to the super bowl anytime soon....but they dont' suck.
  8. Fitt whiffs, he's out of a job. I agree with this. BUUUT, I'm not against going to 1 if our FO sees a franchise QB in this draft. I trust them to do their jobs and be certain. And if not, they all get fired. So we either celebrate the wins or celebrate the house cleaning. Win, win! Amirite?
  9. We've sucked for the past how many years? What difference does it make? At BEST we will be mediocre with any other possible options. Even with Rodgers, we're likely one and done in the playoffs every year. If Super Bowl is the goal, you do this deal. If Andrew Luck or Lawrence is on the board, nobody is trading out the #1 spot. It would take -extreme- luck to be in a position to trade up to #1 pick, the #1 pick be available to be traded, AND generational QB available. It's not likely to happen in our lifetimes.
  10. The problem they have is Saquan Barkley is up for a contract too. They can't tag them both and Barkley wants $16 million per. Do you keep your QB or do you keep the RB that your QB is reliant on? I don't see them keeping both without a deal getting done here in the next couple weeks, and it seems like neither is worth keeping for the money they each want.
  11. He pretty much has until the legal tampering period begins. Right now, he's the only QB on the market and available. Once free agency begins, he loses whatever advantage he has from the early availability - for whatever that's worth. I imagine a few people will kick the tires on him, but I'd be a little surprised who, if anyone, pulls the trigger. You'd have to imagine at least some teams going the vet route will want to know about the Aaron Rodgers situation first before making a decision.
  12. I know the Green Bay Packers are an old and storied franchsise, but Green Bay, the city....what do you mean by market exactly? https://jokermag.com/smallest-market-teams-nfl/
  13. If we had beaten Tampa this year, we'd be at 19 this year. You are saying if it wasn't for that one loss, we should be sticking with Sam Darnold?
  14. If that's accurate, then that's just over $22 million/year. I don't think he is worth $40 mil a year, but that does feel low to me. I can't see him going for less than $30 mil avg per year on the open market.
  15. Of course there are rumors! Ryan Poles would be failing at his job if he didn't make the texans and colts think they could take a QB. It's all about driving up the cost of that #1 pick. Trust me, Chicago is not taking a QB and not trading Fields. Lots and lots of reasons to not trade Fields. Also lots of reasons to make other FO's think you are open to trading him and taking a QB.
  16. Doesn't take an insider to see this. This fanbase has either PTSD or Stockholm syndrome. All depends on the individual. It would be a shame though if we ended up with another retread QB with this staff.
  17. He did say "per PFF". In other words, random dude who took quote snippets out of a PFF article or tweet.
  18. What were we offering for Watson? The deal the Browns did was 3 1sts, a 3rd, and 2 4ths. I'd guess we were in that neighborhood. How many of y'all were okay with that trade for a QB who ended up with a 38.3 QBR in 2022, but don't want to trade similar for the #1 pick?
  19. Was the scouting revamp before or after the Darnold trade? I don't remember.
  20. I'd be okay with that, but he's on a media tour saying Carr is perfect for Carolina. No thanks.
  21. He also gave Duce Staley's official title on here before the team announced it.
  22. I hear two qb names over and over here for next year. If they maintain their trajectory they aren't falling to 8 or 10. And if we are taking the 3rd or 4th qb next year, and trading up to do so ?? I think I'd rather go to 1 this year. Seems asinine if that is what people are thinking.
  23. With a Carr and this staff, I could see us drafting next year in the 16-24 range. Or we better be if we are dropping $40 million on a QB. Anyway, how are we getting from 16+ to #1 overall? Especially when 9x out of 10 the #1 pick needs a QB and ain't budging. If we are drafting a QB, if we want to trade up and want our pick of the class, this is the only year to do that. Otherwise we are moving up to 8-10 to grab someone that falls. I really, really do not see us picking in the top 10 next year.
