Well obviously we know they care and they want Darnold to stay healthy but fans also know we have struggled in this area for a decade having seen mistakes firsthand. So at this moment when they are saying "oh poo" of course we are going to say what else did you expect? The we couldn't fix it all at once right now response is valid but then also you have to consider the sheer resources we have put into our defense even as recently as this week while plugging in a couple of depth linemen in free agency who have bounced from team to team lately. We put ourselves in this position like it or not.

Glad they aren't afraid to admit mistakes but wish it didn't have to wait until week five. If TM to the left has been an option all this time and is on the table there isn't much to think about anymore. It's time for action.

Well two trades for defense within a week while the oline is in shambles does sound like what went on in Seattle a little bit if we are being fair here.

That's not what I said it's just a matter of reality. We're all seeking the same result we just don't want the oline which has been a thorn for years to hold us back from all this potential yet again. We are putting a huge amount of resources in this defense but if our quarterback can't do his job it's all for naught.

I don't dislike it he should be good for us. But these two moves for corner so quickly within a week of each other only make me wonder more if we should have just taken Slater at 8.

I could be wrong but I just don't think that was ever going to happen. He said the right things in camp when asked about it but the staff have shown zero initiative to actually indicate they would make that change. If there is a change it only makes sense to put Christensen at left. As for Deonte idk where this hand wringing about his weight is coming from now. He was a very large man when we drafted him and that hasn't changed now. So if it's a problem why did we draft him again?

I don't necessarily have to agree with it but criticism has always been present following these losses. Cam Newton turning the ball over or missing receivers was always a topic of heated debate. Sam Darnold is getting a pass for the most part so I don't understand the need to jump all over anyone now it just makes us look soft. Everyone on this team can improve on something even Sam and he has previously acknowledged leaving points on the field.

If anything it was settling for the field goal which has been the Panthers MO over the years. Stalled drives have been an issue all season so far. It just finally caught up with us bc we faced a good physical offense.

If he messed up I'm sure he knows it. There were a number of missed opportunities so he was hardly alone in that. Instances like this will be less under the microscope if we can actually complete long passes behind the defense to keep them honest. Moving forward I'm more concerned about seeing that consistently.

I wouldn't count on that lasting through the season as teams get more tape on us. He will eventually run into a defense that will look to get a hit on him if we continue to use him in that capacity consistently. I'm not trying to take anything away from him but our quarterback is our most important asset so these things matter. I completely agree about behind this oline though. It's a shame we backed ourselves into this corner.

Well if it's in the stat sheet and counts as a score any unbiased observer should be considering it when evaluating. The real life ramifications of using your quarterback in that manner is another conversation tho and even someone built like Cam Newton could only last for so long. It's a convo of use and effectiveness vs sustainability and viability. Let Sam use his legs but Carolina has talent surrounding him that can and should make his life less complicated as well.

Sam is scoring points so that's a good thing but you have to consider him running into the endzone isn't likely sustainable the rest of the way and you don't want to see him out there risking big hits too often either. Our redzone percentage is better bc of that I would be happier if the improvement were from our backs or receivers. We traded an option away in Arnold who isn't a huge loss but had a good game the week before and as we saw against Dallas Ian Thomas is still doing Ian Thomas things in his fourth year. Definitely looking to see Sam and Brady get this deep passing game going and get the ball to other playmakers in the redzone in this upcoming stretch.

Trying not to play the what if game about Slater but it's impossible not to consider. I'm optimistic and I think we can adjust to some things but the dollar store Dave style approach to our oline is a story that just never seems to go away for the Panthers. I expect big moves and that to be our top priority next year.

Oh I agree. As much as I could get behind the move for Henderson I just can't fathom how we can watch too much more of this oline falling over into Sam's lap before we make a change. The middle of the line is the worst it's been in years. Paradis is what he is the Broncos knew it when they let him walk. Something has to give.

The term decent in this case is very much debatable. When the oline is in Sam's lap I think we are seeing best case with some of these linemen. We have sunk 14 million guaranteed between the two if they aren't starting material then it's time to see what we have in the younger guys.

Brown is a little different situation from BC but the revisionist history about why we drafted Christensen is getting annoying. One of our top needs was tackle. We were thrilled when we got him and we passed on other talent on the board. He should be working his way into the rotation soon that's all there is to it.

The Falcons and Giants are awful but they both have managed to score more points than the Panthers so far this season. We need to throttle these inferior opponents we have the weapons.

The better teams in the league have been putting up around 30 and some 40. The Cowboys did the week before. If we want to compete for a playoff berth or even a winning season we are going to have to find a way to get there. The protection for Sam could be better but the deep ball has to present itself soon bc 20ish is enough for bad or mediocre teams but teams like the Cards and Bills for example can and will lay it on us.
