  1. I don’t think it’s a money thing as much as it’s a image thing. I don’t think Tepper wants to look stupid and wants to be patient. I think he would spend twice the money today if he knew it was the right choice and wouldn’t get chastised by every talking head on TV that needs something to talk about in the off season.

To those wondering, my absence is related to some personal challenges.

Without going into too much detail, Lady Cowboy Fan is facing three upcoming surgeries. That's not the only thing going on mind you, but it's the biggest.

Between that and the other things, I haven't been up to talking football quite as much, but I'm still watching.

May be back to talk some more in coming weeks, but obviously my top priority right now is helping her.

I'm far from certain that Matt Rhule will be let go (in my opinion, he should be). But if he is, here's something worth keeping in mind...

Two higher-up members of the Panthers front office have ties to Bills OC Brian Daboll.

Pat Stewart was with the Patriots when Daboll was the right ends coach from 2013 to 2016.

And of course, Dan Morgan was previously with the Bills. He and Daboll arrived in Buffalo the same offseason (2018).

Personally, I'd prefer Packers OC Nathaniel Hackett, but it's hard not to think those connections wouldn't at least potentially give Daboll an inside track on the job if (if) any changes are made.

    Just something to think about...

    I'm out.

It’s good to see a Mr. Scot thread.

Hackett would be good but I think Daboll or Eberflus are safe bets.

To be honest, all Tepper has to have learned in the interim is that he should hire a highly regarded NFL consultant to find the next head coach, rather than relying on his gut instinct or people like Marty Hurney.

Letting Marty Hurney hire your HC is like bringing in the guy that mowed your lawn to make your blueprints for your new built home.

  5. Team quit. Same thing happened my Freshman year at college. 3-0 to 3-9. You lose a game, then another, then injuries happen, then players don’t pan out, the you feel pressure and you’re in quick sand and you can’t get out. Then more you fight it the deeper you go. Then the players give up on you, don’t respect you. Only play at 75% speed. Then you get fired.

Year-1 doesn't count -- by the time he took ownership the die had already been cast.

Year-2 (effectively yr-1) was covid -- kinda hard to draw conclusions or assign blame for a brand new staff/regime given the circumstances.

    Year-3 = Year-1.

You need to exercise some patience...

...over the course of a market-cycle The Appaloosa Model will prevail, count on it 😎

You probably got mad we fired Seifert too.

If Tepper wants to, it's happening.  It's his money.  I wouldn't say it's disposable but this is too embarrassing to continue with such a lucrative deal.

I’m not sure how much of it is guaranteed. He signed a 7 year deal worth 60 million and 10 million in incentives. Also had a 2.5 million signing bonus. So let’s say 30 million is guaranteed.

60 million minus 2.5= 57.5. He will have coached 2 seasons at 8.5 million per season. That is 17 million. 57.5 million minus 17 million is 40 million. So Tepper would have to pay out roughly 10 million.

Buts that’s just guessing 30 million is what’s guaranteed.

I’m big on Eberflus. I liked him during the last search. I also like Daboll from Buffalo.

I have this weird feeling Mike Tomlin is gonna get fired and Tepper is gonna hire him since he’s a Pittsburgh guy.
