Was a student assistant my senior year under Urban at Ohio State in undergrad and also took his coaching class. There’s a zero percent chance he didn’t know who Aaron Donald was. Much more believable is how hard (borderline insane) he was on his players and staff. Urban was always terrible to work for but the payoff in college was that you’d likely get a HC job. He believed 100% that people performed their best when they were uncomfortable and constantly grated on people to motivate them. That this didn’t work with grown men professionals doesn’t surprise me. He wasn’t dealing with a bunch of 18-21 year old amateurs anymore. While I was simply a glorified secretary and coffee fetcher, I avoided Urban like the plague as much as I could. Fortunately, I was attached to the offensive room with Tom Herman (and Zach Smith), and we didn’t get as much heat as the defensive room did with how historically bad the defense was that year, so it wasn’t as difficult.

It’s really going to happen, isn’t it? They’re really going to draft Kenny Pickett.

Would be pretty happy with that, tbh. Assuming we don’t trade back just to take Pickett later. Lol

Which is my concern. If you’re taking a QB Top 10, he better have franchise altering potential. I don’t see it with Pickett. His ceiling is Kirk Cousins-esque to me. Which, Cousins is fine, but he is what he is. I don’t really want Malik Willis either, but I’d at least accept it given his high upside and tools.

You don’t need a QB *first*. You also shouldn’t reach for a QB. Even Fit has said as much.

They’re really determined to be able to take a QB at 6, in the worst QB draft in a decade, aren’t they?

Taking Kenny Pickett at #6 has been my absolute worst case scenario as a fan since the final whistle blew against Tampa Bay. With the press for Armstead, and now Newton reporting we’re pursuing Duane Brown, seems like we’re determined to fix the OL in FA. Which makes a QB at 6 makes sense. Why is it so difficult to take the anchor franchise OT for the next 5-10 years at 6?

LT this year and CJ Stroud at the 1.1 next year. In my dreams.

Rather than a positional cap, just make it so QB contracts don’t count against the cap.

I don’t want any QB from this class. But if forced to take one, give me Willis.

Giving Rhule a 3rd season is going to be one of the worst decisions in franchise history, me thinks.

We’re about to do all of this to go 5-12/6-11 for the 4th straight year and miss out on a top QB, AGAIN.

His value cratered last year lol. We were just the ones dumb enough to massively overpay for him.

Keeping Matt Rhule and drafting Kenny Pickett was my forecasted worst case scenario for this franchise come the off-season. Can’t believe it might come to fruition. Setting ourselves up to tank for Arch Manning in 4 years.

If we draft Kenny Pickett, all my Panthers gear might find new homes in EBay.

Yep. A big thing at Michigan has always been the idea of the “Michigan Man.” While that’s not as pervasive these days, they do really like the culture that was established this year and feel like the program is in a good place. Hiring someone like Gattis would be very similar to OSU/Ryan Day, OU/Lincoln Riley, and ND/Marcus Freeman. Gattis got a lot of run for HC jobs last year (Virginia Tech to name one) and won the Broyles as the top assistant in CFB. Although Harbaugh’s other coordinator, now ravens DC Mike MacDonald, deserved that award.

I’m on a bunch of Ohio State boards that are pretty plugged in to Michigan folks as well. Expectation is that they’ll hire internal (Josh Gattis most likely, slim chance of Mike Hart). But I wouldn’t rule out them checking out external candidates as well.

Do NOT touch a single QB in the first round of this draft. Would be plain moronic.

Tyler Linderbaum. If the top 3 OT prospects are gone, go get the best center prospect in as long as I can remember. You win in the trenches. *In the scenario that we can’t find a quality trade back option, that being my first choice.*

The more each day goes by the more I genuinely wonder if Tepper sees Rhule as a great engine to tank and then start fresh and begin a rebuild centered around a new HC and an elite QB prospect in 2023.

Take a franchise LT or Linderbaum this year. Take 1 of CJ Stroud or Bryce Young next year when we’re picking top 3. Profit.

As an Ohio State fan who’s watched him for years, I want no part of Jeremy Rucker. As much as I love the guy for his intangibles and coming back for another year. He’s an absolutely terrible blocking TE. Incredibly bad. It noticeably affected the OSU run game once Luke Farrell and Jake Haussmann left. His hands are also very suspect. He’ll make dazzling one hand catches and then drop multiple easy passes in a row. He’s got great athleticism and is a great locker room guy, but I’d rather someone else try to turn him into an NFL TE.
