  1. Good coaching counts…..setting up a young, raw QB with everything he needs to succeed helps…….when he was drafted, Wyoming QB Josh Allen had a cannon and could run, but couldn’t “hit the broad side a the barn”. He didn’t win in a lower conference schedule, was owned by power 5 programs. Patience, great coaching, a team built around him, he signs a big contract in year four.
  2. Better than “I don’t like you right now”…….I like to say that instead of that naughty fu word.

  4. I tried to recall how Sam did at the same event….he did fine, but so did another rookie, one whose name you may recognize. “The Jets unveiled their prized quarterback, and the third-overall pick in April’s draft, for his first public practice on Saturday night. And Darnold didn’t disappoint, working mostly with the third team. In his fourth practice since ending his holdout on Monday, Darnold continued to improve, looked comfortable within the offense and showed off his ability to throw an accurate ball on the run. “He’s grasping the offense pretty well,” Jets coach Todd Bowles said of Darnold, who completed 9 of 11 passes for 89 yards in the scrimmage. “It’s only been barely a week for him, so he’s getting better every day.” But Darnold wasn’t the only rookie who stood out on Saturday night. Running back Trenton Cannon, a sixth-round pick out of Division II Virginia State continued to impress.” https://www.northjersey.com/story/sports/nfl/jets/2018/08/04/jets-sam-darnold-not-only-rookie-who-stood-out-scrimmage/909198002/
  5. Don’t discount Jets fans…..they’re already questioning if their young rookie QB is a bust……after their own fan fest, they are brutal.
  6. Can’t sleep, so thought I’d throw this in……you can find quotes like this about a lot of players from coaches, teammates about rookies, or first year players. https://www.fanduel.com/theduel/posts/jets-wr-coach-had-hilarious-nsfw-quote-about-sam-darnold-01dd8zzdw8je
  7. In support of your post…one example of many. https://www.newyorkjets.com/news/jets-qb-sam-darnold-real-dude-who-owns-a-tireless-work-ethic
  8. I wasn’t even going to address this, but remember all the hoopla surrounding Sam and how he was looking in practice for the Jets his rookie year? Same stuff they’re saying about Fields. Leadership, first player in and last to leave, spectacular throws. The joint practice with the Bills, and the praise for Sams’ skills by several of their defensive players? Yeah, there’s UTube videos on that. Found one….https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/football-insider/wp/2018/08/14/josh-norman-raves-about-jets-rookie-qb-sam-darnold-this-little-kid-is-not-making-mistakes/ Too early to crown, or downplay any rookie QB at this point.
  9. I remember hearing all this excitement about this raw QB entering his senior season at Montana (of all places), his rocket arm and off the wall intangibles….from Jordan Palmer through his FIL. He just needed to go to the right franchise. This was before the hype. Jordan was right.
  10. I normally don’t like to post on these type of discussions, but I honestly want to know…..was this franchise ready to take a young rookie QB in the draft? A QB that played in elite college programs loaded with top offensive lines and best offensive weapons in CFB? Considering all I’ve read here about the quality (or lack of) the current offensive line….do you think the Panthers were in a better position to develop a young QB than all the other franchises ahead of you? If not, how are you different from the Jets, Bengals, etc.? Your franchise signed a QB who has already played behind one of the worst lines I’ve ever seen at the pro level, it’s not going to be anything he hasn’t already played behind….but this time, with much, much better weapons. Build your line, and if Sam plays well, maybe you get that 2nd round draft pick back you can bundle to go up in the draft. Then you get Watson or one of the newest can’t miss QBs.
  11. I just have flashbacks of Carson, everything I heard….don’t wish that for Joe or any other young QB. Still think they should have drafted Sewell.
  12. I didn’t know much about the game of football till I got to USC. Coming from a small Ag town, where everyone went to the games…because they were social events, not for the game itself. Getting to college, SC made sure you knew all about the football tradition, and you sure as heck learned about the game, and the importance of each position. I got to see so many great “Big Uglies” play, five of our 13 ProHOFers are offensive linemen, I began to appreciate the position. The Bengals are who they always are…..hope Joe doesn’t end up like Carson there.
  13. This is what happens to a good QB without a good oline.
  14. Might have been fun to listen to some of these announcers butcher the names (west coast) with all the Poly players we have out here….we’ve had up to 20 on our team at one time.
  15. Hmmmm, Sam hated the camp circuit stuff the QBs are doing now a days, till he was forced to….stating it “wasn’t real football”. Maybe he feels he’s closer to reall football with the pads on.
  16. I really hope he didn’t drop because of his epilepsy diagnosis. If so, the Bears maybe getting the last laugh. Why else would he fall?
  17. I don’t even know the young man, but I’m fighting back tears. Please be all right, young man.
  18. FYI, She’s a 2016 USC Marshall alumna, works for KLUTCH SPORTS GROUP, LLC, and lives in Malibu. Sam and his long time college GF broke up right before the draft, he wanted no distractions…pretty sure dating is mainly in the off-season. Think Coral is a little older than him.
