  1. We’re all happy he’s with the Panthers….there was a loud, collective groan when the Jets selected him in the draft, that place was so wrong for him, and him for them. He seems to fit in, in every way in Charlotte, from coaching, the city to the culture and fan base. He has a chance to succeed, that’s all you can ask, the rest is up to him.
  2. It’s a young team, still developing. You do what you have to do to score points, and up to the game with Dallas, no one accounted for his running ability. Those basketball moves again, use the skills you have. One very positive, he seems to be gaining more cred with his teammates, judging from comments by players like Reddick and McCaffrey, for example. He’s one of them, not “The QB”. Let’s see how it goes. *Even our boards are surprised by the running TDs, the coaching staff while he was in college didn’t like him running, nor did the Jets.
  3. On a side note…I want that little doggie in your avatar.
  4. Haha, I was a moderator for years on my friends’ USC message board, and this forum is no different than any of them. Fan stands for fanatic, and all the crazies, opinionated armchair QBs, fanboys and serious students of the game, make these forums meeting places for discussion about a team sport people (mostly men) feel very passionate about. Some posters are thoughtful and level headed, some jerks. Fans from other teams that sign up to post on an opponents message board to troll, on the other hand, are pathetic and laughable. Imagine finding the need to extol and live vicariously on the accomplishments of your players to waste valuable time…maybe because they have so little to value of their own. More times than not, they are mocked by their own fans on their message boards. It’s part of the fun of message boards. I will say though, not one of my sports crazy male family members would ever join/post on a message board - for all the above reasons. They think I’m crazy.
  5. Who knows, don’t like either team!
  6. And yet….Sammy is the starting QB, over your true love.
  7. We have to teach these young ones…
  8. …it pours, man it pours!
  9. In Southern California.
  10. He’s a coward…and I have more balls than he does, and I’m pretty much a girly girl. Don’t let my snarky posts fool you…..I’ve been told that I’m so sweet.
  11. Your key words. Statistics are valuable, just don’t think it is true in evaluating football players or units in the ultimate team sport. Individual sports, yes.
  12. He. Will. Never. Be. Offered. The. USC job. Nor, should he want it.
  13. Just seems such a weird way to nerd out on a game (FB) of intangibles, and the cohesiveness of a teams’ players on any given play, night or situation.
  14. I think we’re (SC) going back to our pro style, we’re just not a spread, air raid tradition. We’re sick of it. Hopefully the slate is wiped clean with new coaching staff.
  15. This may sound crazy (it is), but when Sam was thrown into the fourth game at SC, with all the loud calls for all the coaches to be fired, the coaches stood back and let him play his game when the offense took an about face with him in charge. It was all Sam. Wonder if he was so good at the back yard, natural talent of his game, the processing and fundamentals of the position never developed. He has a lot of basketball player in his game.
  16. Doubt it, particularly after the Kiffin and Sarkisian fiasco/embarrassment. Meyer is much worse, if that is even possible, with more baggage? With our female President? The character baggage, and his attitude on the media, not allowing access to his players (in Florida and OSU), would not fly in a city and school in the second largest media market, with highly ranked schools in communications, cinema and news- it would never fly. He’d be swooning on the sideline, he’s not tough enough.
  17. I grew up (as a football fan) hearing that the “Big Uglies” were the most important players, along with the QB, on the offense. Where the oline goes, so goes the offense. As I said before, I watched all four of our HOFers (college and PROs) play, also more than a few that were elite (Boselli) for their franchises. All four were drafted at the very top of the draft. What has changed, particularly since the focus on offense has shifted from defense?
  18. Please don’t do that. Sam is Sam, Cam is Cam. I’m so glad Sam is who he is, in every way.
  19. He’s the pig he’s always been. His name has been linked to the USC job, and some of our fans are so desperate to win again, they would accept this garbage man. Thankfully, he has so much baggage, it would be a shock if he was a consideration, even if he resigns from the NFL. He’s married, old enough to know better…..and as for that young “lady”, she must have zero pride or sense of decency. Cleat chasers are cleat chasers, rather it’s for a player or a coach.
  20. Dak came into the league with an elite offensive line, yet they’re just now look really good on offense. I remember when that disgusting slug drafted Tyron in 2011, he was the highest drafted offensive lineman the cowboys had ever drafted with that owner, and they continued to draft 1st round OL. Tyron was a man among boys when he stepped foot at USC, and he was a stud his first year at Dallas. Dak was drafted in 2016 (around that?), always had a great line to develop behind. He didn’t look all that good in 2019 when Sam and the Jets played them. Point is, a great oline is built through the draft, with first round picks over time….and as they full develop, they can make a 4th round pick (Prescott) or an undrafted QB (Romo) look like winners.
  21. That’s the thing though…..he has top of the first round talent, he should be playing that way. Place your expectations as the third pick overall, nothing less, bet the coaches are. Judging by Sam’s somber affect in the post game interview, he does as well. The discussion should not be if he was worth a second and fourth round picks, but is he worth building your offense around? Can’t imagine a franchise would let Fields fall in their lap, only to pass him by for Sam if they didn’t feel he had franchise potential, especially if they feel they won’t be selecting as high as the eighth pick again. Do you think the coaches brought him in as a quality second string QB? I get what Linville is saying, it brings valid observations for discussion, and a lot was given up to do that, forget what he said before, the OP is a good discussion post.
  22. Check out other team sites…pro or college, all have one thing in common….QB fanboys and rabid haters, few in between. Crazy….and creepy weird. Enjoy the hyperbole.
  23. I see why the franchise passed on the rookie QBs available in the draft. The oline may kill the QB yet.
