The QB School : Breaking down AR and Levis

Sell me Justin Fields vs CJ Stroud
rebelrouser replied to Cam's New Arm's topic in Carolina Panthers
Running the football on a regular basis increases the odds that a quarterback will get hurt. There is no guarantee than any player in football will not get hurt. -
Every team has a QB. I suppose he is saying go draft one of the hot names. Out of the four guys in the NFL Championship round: Burrow #1, Mahomes #10, Jalen Hurts #53, and Brock Purdy #262. If you see a Burrow (or a Lawrence or a Luck), go get him. If not, don't mortgage your future. So three of four we could have had w/ pick #9.

Yep, everyone on here giving Tepper a pass, but his dumb ass signed Rhule to that contract so be a man and pay up. Tepper is a weasel that doesn't pay his bills (see the Rock Hill debacle).

Sell me Justin Fields vs CJ Stroud

Mel Kiper says Justin Fields would be taken first overall if he came out today. Mel Kiper is an idiot. Justin Fields will not be a long term solution in Chicago. Pretty soon these running qb's will be viewed like rb's; short shelf life. This year we saw Justin Fields, Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray, and Jalen Hurts (who is a physical specimen) all go down with significant injury. QB's runs can really open up your offense, but they come with a cost. I would take Stroud over Fields all day long but agree he is not worth trading up for. -
Did you not hear what his lawyer said? Class my ass.

Would not be surprised to see him sue us. I did not get the job so racism. Thanks for the no. 9 pick.

Agree. I'm thinking Reich may be less inclined to take Anthony Richardson than some of the other candidates. Hasn't he always had drop back passers rather than ROP types?

Report. Panthers pivoting from Shane Steichen
rebelrouser replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I heard Tepper's girlfriend didn't like the shoes he wore to the interview. I just hope they remember Wilks is the reason we are screwed in this year's draft w/ nothing to show for it. -
We'll have to wait and see because Vegas doesn't have a qb, but Devonte Adams won't want to be part of a long term rookie qb project. Atlanta is in the same boat as we are but people think they won't take a qb and that we must? Don't understand the logic there.

1. Chicago could trade their pick to someone looking for a qb like Saints, Commanders, Jets, etc. 2. Houston draft qb 3. Arizona goes dline but they could always trade back 4. Colts draft qb; no way they roll with another vet 5. Seahwaks depends what happens with Gino 6. Detroit probably not but they could take a qb if they really like one 7. Raiders dumped their vet so maybe they want a qb 8. Atlanta is in the same boat as us; took one last year will they again? 9. The cupboard is bare. I see more scenarios where we don't get a top 3 qb than where one drops to us.

Bad Cam my ass. Cam was 66%, 2854 yds, 10.2 yd/att, 30 td, 7 int, 182 qbr Anthony Richardson was 53.8%, 2549 yds, 7.8 yd/att, 17 td, 9 int, 131 qbr

Romo sounds like he has phlegm in his throat and Olsen sounds like his balls haven't dropped yet.

Based what exactly? The fact that Florida outrecruits Kentucky virtually every year ('21 12 vs. 35, '20 9 vs. 25, '19 9 vs. 34, '18 14 vs. 37) or the fact that Florida ends up w/ a better conference record virtually every year ('22 both 3-5, '21 2-6 v. 5-3, '20 8-2 vs. 4-6, '19 6-2 vs. 3-5). So for four years UF was clearly better than UK in recruiting and record except for one single year where UK beat them with conference record. Those of you excusing AR's horrific stats due to no talent at the University of Florida are in for a rude awaking. The good news is that AR is truly the man to lead us to the number one overall pick in '24 or '25 depending on when we start him. If we hire Steichen and he uses AR in an RPO run heavy offense, he could succeed here for a few years before he starts to break down like a running back.

Matt Waldman's Breakdown of Anthony Richardson (QB, Florida)
rebelrouser replied to Lemory's topic in 2025 NFL Draft
Weakness accuracy. You ain't kidding jack. -
Man it would have been nice to take Jalen Hurts w/ our '20 second round pick. Funny we are talking about AR at#9 when we passed on Jalen at #38.
-
That draft screams trade back. If we couldn't, i would take the tcu wr there.
-
This is why i am against giving up draft capital to move down for a qb (unless it's Young or Stroud). Lots of needs at wr, te, edge, lb but lots of really good prospects who will be around in rounds two and three. We trade back and we could really get a quality wr, te, and lb(s) to add to the team.

oops. Qb this year. If we want a qb, Wilks really screwed us in that Raiders and Falcons could clean the qb board right in front of us. -

The best candidates for a trade back would be qb needy teams so probably not. We certainly couldn't comfortably trade back behind the jets. It's interesting in that Atlanta, Carolina, and Tennessee all decided to take their preferred qb last year. However, everyone assumes only Carolina wants to take another q -
It's both. You have to create an RPO type system for Hurts to work out. Minshew is a completely different type of quarterback so when he goes in, he is running a system built for someone very different than him. He is not a good backup for Hurts. Get a Huntley type like Ravens have so when the backup has to play, he can come in w/ the same playbook and no one has to adjust.
-
You serious Clark? The guy is color man who has never coached and has ties to Wilks. I hope we aren't taking advice from the media.
-
Frank Reich is a legit head coach candidate with interviews with several nfl teams. Why would he hitch his wagon to Wilks who got a courtesy/Rooney interview and be a coordinator? That is not happening.
-
Rhule screwed us putting Corral behind that crap oline in preseason. Wasn't it that fat guard from Alabama that let his man straight through that got him hurt? Deonte Brown? With a healthy Corral, the smart play we saw from other teams is to let your new draftee take his lumps and get a good draft pick. Nine just flat out sucks. Too low for a good qb, too high for Anthony Richardson, and really not sure what we do with it. WR is deep, LB is deep, and too early for a TE.
-
Wow, sounds like one of the other teams that needs a head coach would really want him.
