  1. They have a stud wr, rb and te. Some people thought highly of Desmond Ridder. He did get better during his four starts, but I doubt he ends up as a quality NFL starter. More likely the shine wears off over the course of the season and they are back to trying to find a qb.

Strength of schedule this time of year is joke.

I feel pretty good about Atl, Tampa, and Houston being bad. Doubt Chi, Indy, and Saints turn in to world beaters over night.

  3. I think Bryce's athleticism is pretty good and as someone pointed out, although he doesn't have a cannon, he does have all the throws needed. He's not a Lamar Jackson/Jalen Hurts level runner, but I would rather have an accurate qb than either of those guys.  We just need him to run enough to find throwing lanes and extend plays not to get yardage.

  4. This was a great draft pick. I think it's pretty clear he is the best of last year's Charles Cross and Evan Neal OT group. I am pretty happy to have a rookie of his quality. They will clean up his pass blocking. The athleticism he needs to be good is there, he just needs some experience and coaching. He is an absolute road grader run blocker already.

Would’ve been funny to see everyone complaining about losing DJ Moore to then get Justin Jefferson.

That’s the only thing they have valuable enough to get up to #1 unless they were willing to do 5+ firsts.

Yeah, mediocre qb or injury prone rb anyone? We just traded CMC; don't need the jv version of that back.   Sounds like the clear consensus was Bryce Young no. 1.  Houston blew it.

Bumping this because Person predicted 4 of our 5 draft choices correctly.

Young, Mingo, Zavala & DJ Johnson.

Even if not in near their actual slots, that's pretty impressive.

Yeah, that draft was an A; Fitterer reached for every single player except Bryce.

By the way, just heard that when Mahomes was drafted someone (did not say who) rated that pick a C-.

So did everyone not named Andy Reed who is being honest.  There are a whole lot more busts than diamonds.

Having a rookie QB could have given him a longer leash from getting fired. If he trotted Corral out there and he showed promise it could have bought him more time. Problem is it's a move he should have done from day 1 but he was too stubborn and/or didn't have the ability to develop a QB.

I'm not buying it. He was going into year three, and the thought a third round qb was going to buy him more time? Best case scenario for Corral was sit for a year and learn and that was all the more evident w/ Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold on the roster.

And in 2022 yea trading up for Corral was a desperate move probably perpetuated by Matt Rhule

Why would Matt Rhule want a developmental qb in his make or break firing year? Someone told him to make that pick. Also, why does Mingo have trouble with vertical separation when he runs a 4.46 40? I agree that Fitterer is a poor drafter with a lot of waster during his tenure.

“That’s an honest opinion – coming out [of Oklahoma].”

That means he had 2018 Oklahoma Baker Mayfield rated higher than 2023 Alabama Bryce Young or 2023 OSU CJ Stroud. His eval sucks but it's not as bad as saying that Baker should be more desirable in '23 than Young or Stroud.  If you go by NFL.com draft profiles, Young is slightly ahead of Mayfield and Stroud is slightly behind. Given the fact that we now know that Mayfield has flopped at Cleveland and Carolina, i would not have said that.

I didn't think that he was all that and a bag of chips when he came here, I didn't think it when he left, and I certainly don't believe it now.

This. I'm glad we are done chasing the fools gold of other teams castoffs.  Best of luck to Sam and Baker and good riddance.

We did tank.  At the point we traded away CMC and chose a replacement HC  who had successfully tanked before,  the FO was trying to tank.  Wilkes as much said so, even though he qualified that statement later.

If we had chosen Tabor who wasn't suing the NFL for being undermined, I think we could have traded away more assets for more picks,  which would have given us more 1st round picks and and a higher draft spot, so we could have spent fewer picks to move up.

The coaches and players cannot/will not lose games on purpose.

We are where we are.  If Young translates, no one will care.

No one tried to tank like the Colts and they ended up with Anthony Richardson. I think they are counting on another really bad year.

The poster was referring to all the games Darnold played last year. Not one.

Not true. Here is the quote:

Steve Wilks had Sam Darnold looking like a legit starting QB and we didn't have the 49ers roster.

Steve Wilks was our interim coach so we was not the coach for the whole year but rather part of the year. And I did not list Darnold stats for only one game. I listed several. Funny to see people polish Darnold's knob and crap all over Matt Corral.
