  1. I more interested in how well they can slide and avoid contact.
  2. more like if he had Drew Brees's accuracy he would have been unstoppable and possibly the most dangerous QB we have seen
  3. Amazing to me that the people who don't laud compliments on Cam and totally agree with the the folks that believe he was the greatest are called haters and implications immediately made of why they don't feel that way. If you think he was the greatest more power to you. Everyone is entitled to an opinion without it being something else.
  4. Clearly not willing to take a back up roll and accept reality at this point in his career. Love the good years he gave us, but he never was able to transition to being a pocket passer due to injury and accuracy issues. The history of the league is littered with guys who were great in college and their early years, but never made the next step when their feet slowed down with age. I don't know even if not injuring his shoulder if Cam would have ever been able to stand back and sling it with consistent accuracy. He would abandon his footwork far too often. Hard to coach those instincts out when they have been part of a players make up and gave them success based off of elite athleticism for all of their early playing days and careers. He was the best athlete on the field most of his life.
  5. and he knows the difference between a bear and a panther
  6. Panthers have all the leverage now. The info that "leaks" out helps them maintain the position. These writers gobble it up thinking they have the inside scoop and throw it out there, furthering the Panthers ability to keep any options with other teams open.
  7. It is the reason Dan Patrick left ESPN and went out on his own. He has stated it quite clearly several times over the years. The networks have certain big market teams that they know generate a national buzz and they are instructed to talk about them for ratings. We are not a big market team, even though Charlotte continues to grow much more quickly than some of the other markets.
  8. I believe if you really want him much like Corral last year, I think he falls out of the first round. Too many questions about his accuracy which is key to be a top tier QB in the league. The body of work you have to grade him on is very small and I just don't see teams taking him at a high pick. I may be wrong, but I think there is enough concern about his passing ability to give teams pause, but somebody may get all wrapped up in his combine stats and pull the trigger. I would not use #9 pick on him.
  9. I think you are using 6 games to say he is a different player, but I am not allowed to use the same 6 games to say I don't think he is. I understand what you are saying about him getting the short end of the stick on coaches and I agree, but I really see things in him that are not indicative of QB capable of putting together the consistency you need to win over a full season. We can throw stats around all day, you can find many to support your thoughts and I can do likewise. My eyes tell me a different story than yours. At the end of the day, we can just disagree and if he does start, for the record, I really hope I have to come back here and eat crow. I will gladly take a crow buffet at that point.
  10. you picked the one game against the steelers to get your 108 rating. how about this then: When leading 17+ 143.8 Leading 9-16 143.5 Leading 1-8 82.7 Tied 70.3 Trailing 1-8 65.2 Trailing 9-16 90.1 And most of this was probably against prevent defense. When things are tight he does not show up. I think Sam could be a great back up, I just don't think he is consistent enough to bring it week in and week out. Just my opinion. We may end up finding out though.
  11. Passer rating in January in important games was 72.9 with 3 picks. He was pressured and sacked more in those games.
  12. It is funny to watch the guys that slam Sam say that Cam can still get it done. My read on Sam is that if you can get to him early and rough him up, his clock speeds up and he is ruined the rest of the game. He keeps those feet chopping the rest of the game and rushes all of his throws or makes really poor decisions with the ball. I don't think anyone is coaching it out of him at this point. It is an instinct he has and when fight or flee kicks in he is what he is.
  13. And deadly accurate. Not saying Young does not have accuracy, but if he is compared to Brees because of stature you cannot overlook how accurate Brees was.
  14. If the Bears did trade him you would have to ask yourself why. I would be concerned if they traded him straight up for a #9. I am not sold on him as a passer yet either.
  15. I would not be surprised if ESPN picked up Romo. They sure spent enough time overinflating how good he was as a player.
  16. I understand the idea, but I am not sure there is a franchise guy in the group that is being talked about at the top of this draft. They all give me concern about there ability to play this game and stay healthy at the next level. The guys below them all seem like potential guys that will need time to develop. Not sure trading up makes much sense.
  17. I am going to have to pass (no pun intended) he throws to many to the opponent IMO.
  18. True or not. You can watch most of the guys that rely heavily on their feet through college and when the heat gets turned up their footwork goes out the window. Their instincts that they have had their entire football life take over and it is able to get them through those years, but the pros it will not. The entire games is faster and the windows are much tighter. Why do you think so many of these college phenoms bust? I find it crazy that everyone makes excuses for Cam not being all world in the NFL. His line sucked, he had no receivers, now apparently no one ever coached him either. Bottom line he did not play smart, always took the big hit when running, was not accurate with the football and did not know how to turn it around in a game when he started out poorly. Sure he could have had better pieces around him at times, but he is not faultless in how his career ended.
  19. Problem with bad footwork is that when under pressure almost all of them revert back to it. Cam was that way. Being able to rely on elite athleticism and not their arm and sound mechanics is hard to turn around. I am not sure their is a franchise QB in this draft and if there is I don't think it is someone being thrown around at the top of the draft. It will be some late round late bloomer type.
  20. Von Miller says we should definitely bring Cam back.
  21. If Wilks has a case then I am suing as well. I think I have damage to my eyes from the blaze of that grease fire I watched this season.
  22. All this, but really Cam did not help his career longevity by not learning to slide. He took way too many hits and it would have ended prematurely even without the interception injury. His concussion against Atlanta was a prime example of his showing up his competition prior to getting in the end zone and paying the price. I still do not believe he had the makeup to be an all time great for a long period of time. Accuracy issues combined with a poor attitude when games did not start well plagued him his entire career.
