Funny I’ve seen draft comparisons of Mingo to Shenault. I wouldn’t be surprised if Shenault gets cut if we have a younger version of him. Last year I thought he would have made a good 3rd down RB who can catch the ball or used for short yardage. Why not? At least see how he does in practice and preseason.

As much as I would love a TE, why would we need one? They will probably just end up on the practice squad and if they are any good they will get picked up by another team. We have Hurst, Thomas and Tremble. Those guys would have to get cut which is highly unlikely. We also have Ricci and Sullivan who have experience who would battle for the 4th spot (if we keep 4 te). Not drafting a te might actually be a smart thing after all. Wait until Ian Thomas contract expires, also by then we should know if Tremble is worth keeping or moving on from. So we could draft replacements then. Also TE is a position that usually takes time for a player to develop. Even your monster TEs didn’t start out with 800 yard seasons.

Robert Lester was a projected first round pick? I actually had high hopes for him after his rookie season. Sad he didn’t last long. Ahhh the good old days when we had UDFA rookies staring in our secondary.

DAY 2: Best of the Rest Big Board by Positions of Interest
rmoneyg35 replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
So much talent left. We could end up with a beast TE to go with our rookie QB. Just think if Mayer or Washington falls to us and they are as good as advertised. That would be a huge boost to our offense. WR isn’t as big of a deal to me. I think there is better talent at CB than edge right now and I feel that CB is a bigger need than edge. -
Only if Corral gets cut/traded. I think it’s smart to have two young QBs and one vet.
-
People act like short players haven’t ever been great before. They ignore how his BMI is more than Qbs bigger than him.

Th 6’2 prototypical QB is a myth, look at the shotgun percentages

Bro you act like someone a few inches shorter is such a big deal. -
Let’s get the record straight on S2

It’s funny how people thinking the S2 and wonderlic are the same. -
Scott Fitterer on WFNZ this morning

“But but guys it’s literally a smokescreen” -
And people seem to forget that Cam had all sorts of batted passes. Never mind it wasn’t a factor for Bryce in the SEC which is loaded with NFL defensive talent. Never mind he’s only 10 pounds lighter than CJ despite being 4 inches shorter, never mind there’s been nfl QBs the same size that were fine.

I wish they had limits on what players could get paid. If they are going to have caps then why not limits? Also they should make it to where teams resigning players they drafted don’t cost as much against the cap. I would love if they did something to where you could cancel contracts if a player gets hurt or doesn’t play up to expectations and it won’t hurt the cap.

For those acting like the S2 must not be that big of a deal because it’s been around since 2015, well I don’t think you’ve given it much thought. It would take years for the nfl to take it seriously because you would need for a player to play for a few years and need multiple draft classes so you can look at the data more. It probably took years for people to even take it seriously and I am sure a lot of your older front office people wouldn’t take something new seriously.

Steven Smith Sr first round QB breakdown
rmoneyg35 replied to PanthersGTI's topic in Carolina Panthers
I figured Smith would like Young considering Smith was always overlooked because of his size. -
Young's built sturdier than Stroud per BMI
rmoneyg35 replied to MechaZain's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah I noticed a while back that Bryce was actually bigger than some other NFL QBs if you consider how he’s a few inches shorter yet only 10-15 pounds lighter. Him being small is being blown out of proportion. -
Bryce Young will be the best QB ever in Charlotte
rmoneyg35 replied to Diehardpanth02's topic in Carolina Panthers
I love how people act like Cam was the best QB ever and act like he was one of the best QBs when he was rarely even a top 10 qb passing wise and taking into context his turnovers and completion percentage and Cam was probably a top 15 QB. Of course people always want to give him the excuse of “if he only had an all pro offensive line and 3 all pro WR then he would have been better” completely ignoring how other great QBs would have no offensive line or WRs and still put up better numbers. Cam was our best QB. He had some great seasons but he wasn’t a top 10 qb. -
You bring up a good point, if a Qb knows to give himself up and slide down compared to keep running and take a hit then that Qb isn’t going to be a lot safer. The fact Young already has this instinct is a good thing. Look at Cam who always had the instinct to keep running instead of slide and avoid the hit. Some things you can’t teach. The NFL loves protecting QBs and as long as Young knows how to avoid hits then his size won’t be as big of an issue as many think.

Mike Kaye: Panthers looking to add EDGE player
rmoneyg35 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’m hoping some of these FA edge rushers price will drop after the draft after they see they won’t be getting as much as they originally thought. -
I think context is key. he was hardly used and at best was the #3 WR. When he finally started getting used this year it was mostly when we had a 2nd-3rd string Qb and we ran the ball a lot. He has potential still and with the right offense and coaches I think he can be a star.

I think Chinn or Luvu could get lost in the shuffle especially with the switch to 3-4. I don’t think Luvu is going to be a good 3-4 OLB. Granted I’m sure we will still have some 4-3 packages he could play. So the question is if Chinn or Luvu will be the ILB beside Shaq? I’m sure Haynes and YGM will start opposite burns. Haynes actually might thrive in a 3-4 olb role. He’s put up some good PFF numbers in a limited role and has improved with time. YGM hasn’t really shown much. Then there is Barno. Also Luvu could end up being a back up OLB? Could Chinn also play 3-4 OLB?

I think you’re looking too far into it. Just good contracts on players who are undervalued because of injuries or lack of playing time. We got a few cheap starters too that might not have flashy names but will get the job done. The best part is we haven’t made any crazy signings that could hurt us in the future and still have cap for extensions on our younger core.
