I’ve seen some concern about Brady Christensen’s arm length being a problem. Well I have good news. The stats show it doesn’t really matter. https://www.pff.com/news/does-arm-length-affect-ot-play on top of that it’s good to note that Brady graded very high and was ranked top 20 in offensive linemen over the past 20 years or so. so yes he can still be a successful NFL tackle. If history has shown us anything it’s that athleticism doesn’t always beat out skill and experience.

Round 6 (A) Deonte Brown - G - Alabama

I have to wonder if we liked this guy from watching tape last year against Brown? I mean Brown is a great nfl player and if he can hold his own then he should be able to make it in the NFL. -
Round 5 (b) - pick 22 - Keith Taylor DB from Washington

I think we could have drafted him in the 6th or 7th. -
Round 6 (A) Deonte Brown - G - Alabama

Yeah but I mean how many times have we seen a offensive linemen test bad athletically and kill it in the NFL? I believe Orlando brown was horrible athletically and we see how he turned out. Only problem I see is if he can’t control his weight and gets so out of shape he can’t play or hurts himself. I also wonder if he looses weight if it will effect his play negatively? -
Round 4 - Carolina Panthers select Chuba Hubbard, RB, Oklahoma State.

I don’t like it. Lots of wear and tear and those negatives listed makes it seem to me like he won’t make it long in the nfl. -
Round 6 (A) Deonte Brown - G - Alabama

That’s all? I mean plenty of out of shape fat people get drafted high. It’s not hard to make a player eat right. Just have to have a good staff that will work with the guy. -
Round 5(a) - Carolina Panthers select Daviyon Nixon - DT- Iowa

I don’t understand why the nfl doesn’t have programs to help players with off field issues. I mean you invest millions of dollars in a player and you are in a company that makes billions each year. Make a babysitting program. Make these players with off field issues get counseling, mental health help and make it to where they have someone watch them and make them live in a controlled environment. It’s not like you couldn’t make them sign a contract where they would have to agree to it. -
Round 5(a) - Carolina Panthers select Daviyon Nixon - DT- Iowa

I read he had a great first step which is great. He was a top college player. Maybe didn’t get a lot of nfl sacks but lots of successful defensive linemen didn’t get lots of sacks in college. He can sit a few years and develop, it can take a few years for a defensive linemen to develop anyhow. -
Round 6 (A) Deonte Brown - G - Alabama

So guy is a mammoth of a man, hasn’t allowed a sack in 3 years in the SEC, arguably the best conference, on one of the top teams in college which is know to produce lots of NFL talent yet fell this far? What’s wrong with this guy? What am I missing? Someone has to be wrong with him to fall this far. -
Round 6 (B) Shi Smith - WR - S. Carolina

Another player who can play multiple positions. -
So you would only take 3 shots?

They find probowl offensive linemen in 2nd-7th rounds all the time. I’m not worried.

Is slater that good or is he ranked that high simply because of his game against Young?

Would the Panthers sign Lamar Jackson if the Ravens dump him?
rmoneyg35 replied to SizzleBuzz's topic in Carolina Panthers
To be fair as crazy as this sounds just remember Carolina cut cam Newton 4 years after winning the MVP and taking Carolina to the Super Bowl. So I guess it’s possible especially considering that Lamar can’t even throw as good as cam. -
LTs & arm length (basically: This draft's OTs are great but...)

Good technique can make up for physical shortcomings -

The problem with Teams trading for Jackson is that you have to have your offense specifically set up for him. -

Jesus Christ this guy is young. They say the human brain doesn’t develop fully until you’re 25 so there’s a lot of hope for him improving here. -
Joe Person on Panthers plans for #8 pick

Fun fact: teams will put out misinformation to the media during the draft as part of their draft strategies. -
Yeah I keep hearing people say that Mond is supposed to be Dak Prescott 2.0 but I disagree. Dak was a lot better a player in college, look at his numbers they were almost twice as good as Monds in every category:
-
Looks like he’s lost some weight.

Pitts. I am also worried about DJ Moore and Roby Anderson’s expiring contracts. Maybe we draft a WR which would save us money and make sure we have good WRs in case roby or DJ leave.
-
I would rather just trade back and get an extra 2nd/3rd rounder. You could end up getting 2 starting offensive linemen for the price of one. Deep draft with offensive linemen. Draft a tackle first round and then use the extra pick to get a center or guard in the 2nd or 3rd. Heck I would be happy if we drafted 3-4 offensive linemen.
-
I mean they say this draft is loaded with offensive linemen so you could probably end up getting plenty of good offensive linemen later in the draft. If the draft is as deep in offensive linemen as they claim then why not draft a couple of them in later rounds?
