Maine's 2015 Mock Draft (Comp. Picks Included)
rmoneyg35 replied to OnlyPantherFaninMaine's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not bad draft but two DE would mean we would cut or put a rookie on the practice squad. I would rather have Strong than Perriman. Coleman has shown interest from us so he could be a Panther but I would rather draft a RB in the mid rounds because of the talent available. I feel Gibson could be a 5th rounder. I love the Sample pick. Nice mock. -
That would surprise me but it is possible. Brown has more speed but Boykin is bigger. Boykin and Brown both can play special teams but I assume Boykin can play more positions that Brown. Boykin has more experience but Brown has spent a year in our system. I've always thought Brown would be our #3 WR this year even if we draft/sign a WR but Boykin does have a chance to beat him out for the spot. I guess you could add Ginn to the mix as well but even though he has more speed and experience he isn't the better receiver and probably will be specifically special teams only.

Here's a scouting report on Martin. Ironically his pro comparison is Jordan Gross. Wouldn't it be great if Gross could give Martin some tips and leadership since he still sticks around the team. http://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2012jmartin.php

I'm confused, I read Martin started 9 games but someone said he started 7 last season so which one is right?

According to rotoworld.com top unsigned FA Cornerbacks include: Peanut Tillman Patrick Robinson Tarrell Brown Kyle Wilson Brandon Harris Josh Wilson EJ Biggers Carlos Rodgers Ike Taylor ( likely to retire) And our favorite Antoine Cason
-
Seattle claimed him off of our practice squad if I remember correctly.
-
Boykin will probably make the team since he can play special teams after all what's the point of keeping a back up if he isn't versatile? He could also step up if someone gets injured. I'm not saying he will be our starting WR but injuries happen in the NFL and teams that have good depth overcome injuries.
-
For those who are complaining would you rather us have Chandler and Foucault as back ups? No let me guess you would rather us spend a few million on a injured Jake Long because he was good four years ago. How about spend 5+ million on Barksdale? Or we could claim a former 2nd rounder by just taking on his rookie contract of about 1 million. This was a great move by Gettleman. He isn't going to be the starter unless he earns it and if he can beat out Reammers then he deserves to start. I don't care about what happend two years ago because that is the past.

With all the Pot issues you maybe right but I see Shane Ray being a bust as well. Heck Fowler and Vic Beasly have a big chance of being bust as well, this draft has a lot of risky edge rushers in the first. I believe Beasly will be successful and I defiantly don't want to see him picked by the Falcons.

I could see Philly Brown our #3 WR over Ginn. He and Ginn are basically the same player only Brown doesn't have drop issues. I really would love for us to get Jalen Strong he would be a solid #2. If We don't draft a WR in the first few rounds then maybe Hill could be our 2, it's a long shot but still possible.
-
Can he play OT... Oh wait. Well he is automatically better than Chandler and was decent as a starter last year with Kaepernick as their QB. It may not be a rockstar pick but it puts us in a better position come draft time. He will be a better tackle than any rookie we draft and will battle Reamers for the RT position. This gives us decent depth. Also is cheaper than signing an injured Jake Long or Barksdale. Good signing.
-
Still a decent amount of vet tackles and safeties left. The CB and WR market is drying up, Jennings, Nicks, Moore and Crabtree are basically what's left. I read we could sign a few restricted free agents without having to pay picks. I believe the players were Chris Hairston and Andre Holmes were the RFA.
-
Panthers seem to still be in the running for Jennings. The Packers and Jags seem to be in contention as well.
-
I thought he would have made a solid starter beside Norman. I don't know of many free agent CBs left that could start. Maybe we will have to rely on the draft to fill our CB needs.
-
With Cam healthy and with an improved offense I see no excuse why he shouldn't improve. Blame Shula all you want but with a new WR and new OT we will be better. Health was a major problem last year and hopefully it won't be a concern this season. I hope this is the last season we hear about Cam needing to improve his fundamentals.
-
I'm about sick and tired of these writers who get paid to write articles on teams they know absolutely nothing about. This guy probably thinks Gettleman was GM when we drafted Newton. That's why I prefer to read articles and threads from here and blackandblue review.
-
No way Parker is way better than Peat. Parker will start day one where as Peat may need time to become a starter.
-
Some of those linebackers like Briggs and DJ Williams are probably done. Coleman is going to be the only FA safety we sign and we may sign a CB if Ball decides to sign with us. We will probably try to sign a WR and maybe a OL. We will address most of the other needs through the draft and with all of the extra comp picks I could really see us finding a LB and/ safety in the draft.

If I Had to Call the WR Depth Chart Today...
rmoneyg35 replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Brown has more value than Cotchery and is a better receiver than Ginn. Cotchery is slow but can catch, run routes and offers veteran leadership. Ginn offers speed, return ability and can be a big play receiver but he has problems catching the ball. I see Cotchery being cut if we sign a FA or draft a WR. Hill has a chance of making the squad so I could see our depth chart looking like this KB Rookie Hill Brown Ginn Rookie or Cotchery Or KB Jennings Rookie Brown Hill Ginn I don't see us passing on a WR in the draft. I also believe that Ginn will probably be used on special teams only while Brown gets reps at WR. -
Panthers veteran players that may be on the bubble
rmoneyg35 replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I defiantly see Cotchery gone unless we don't sign or draft a WR. I guess the same could be said of Cole and Harper but I don't see them being cut unless we draft a solid replacement. Harper did play well in the second half of the season and finished in the upper half of safeties according to pff. So do we keep him and just use him part time? Tolbert would save a lot of money but we don't have a solid vet would could replace him. I would love for us to sign James Casey as his replacement. He can play TE and can play the H-back role while being an above average blocker. Loosing Tolbert would take away some of our toughness. -
His drops scare me but I have read that his QB was the cause of some of his drops because he would throw the ball close to the ground, ect. I still would rather have Strong. I hate waiting for the draft.
-
Leave no stone unturned.
-
Only sore losers care that a ball was a few psi off.

Would be better signing than Nicks, Crabtree and Moore. Sure he's older but he put up decent numbers with a rookie QB this year and still put up decent numbers. Last season he had a combo of Matt Cassell, Christian Ponder and Josh Freeman but was able to put up 800 yards after missing a game. He would automatically be our number two and probably has a few years left.
