  1. He’s safe for at least another year. Maybe a 3rd if he shows some progression.

Biggest thing is he won’t be new HC and GMs “guy”.

I will be interested to see if the new folks keep Dalton behind him, sign a a younger borderline starter than Andy, or draft a guy at 33.

What they do at back up QB will determine the confidence level.

By Harbaugh nonsense do you mean from the radio show saying Tepper doesn’t want Harbaugh?

Yes. I have heard nothing about him not being interested in Harbaugh this year. Last year Harbaugh called multiple times and they talked about the job but NEITHER was interested in going forward with an interview. It sounds like somebody just found out that happened and it’s being perceived as this year.

I doubt Tepper or the search firm he handed the keys to have even spoke to Harbaugh or talked amongst themselves regarding Harbaugh this early in the process. That’s now how these things work.

EDIT: and I’m not saying I’ve heard that he will be interested in JH. I’m just saying for those rumors to come out like that is bs. It’s way too early in the process and it’s the same thing as draft season where there is a new rumor each day. Everything I have been told points towards him wanting somebody he can hand responsibilities to. Whether it’s a coach/GM type or a really strong GM personality and young Head Coach.

  3. No clue where this Harbaugh nonsense is coming from. The feeling I actually get from folks I talk to is the same it was a month ago.

I think he is going to get a Belichick/Harbaugh type and put Scott in a closet somewhere with no roster control. Perhaps a false promotion.

I mean from what I’ve heard it sounds like he’s ready to hand the keys over. The whole drink fiasco demonstrates his frustration with the situation among other things.

Bad owner? Yes. Bad at making football decisions? Yes. Impatient? Yes. Idiot? No.

Our buddy Casillas had an interesting theory on that...

He thinks it's possible Fitterer gets "promoted" to a job where he continues all of his current administrative duties except making personnel decisions.

Fitterer Is said to be very well liked within the organization and is good at handling a lot of the day-to-day stuff.

This is what a lot of us used to hope would happen to Marty Hurney.

Honestly this is the impression I get from folks I talk to. He’s probably not going anywhere but his job description might.

Then again SF may see it as an out and jump ship if the work environment is that bad.

  5. I read somewhere that 20-22 games is the typical window where most modern coaches know what they have in a QB. That lines up with about Week 6 or so next season. If Bryce hasn’t shown any progression by then with a new offense, scheme, and some type of weapons then it’s pretty obvious what 2025’s 1st Rounder will be used for.

As others have said, his physical toolbox is the problem. I watched him throw a duck today that looked like it was tipped until the announcer went back and pointed out how terrible of a throw it was.

He doesn’t have the arm strength for the zip and or the height for the field vision.

  6. I understand everyone’s right to privacy. However, if you are just going to appear and make decisions for 1 of only 32 NFL teams in the world, people are going to want to know your background and qualifications.

You could argue that even some of the Mark Davis’ who inherited it still grew up in it and watched their family operate it. Others, made their marks in business and showed their acumen there.

To just be married to the owner with no clear background and making key decisions in a multi-billion dollar company is staggering.

It's certainly possible that Tepper doesn't give a sh-t about the South Carolina side of the fanbase anymore.

Might be wise for him to remember though that it's not like the team is exactly growing its fanbase in their current status.

Are the Panthers really in a position to take any fans for granted?

A lot of those in the G-SP area have turned to the Falcons the past few years and a lot of those in the Low Country follow Florida teams.

There is a part of me that wonders whether Frank letting everyone know about the weekly meetings played a part in his firing.

It certainly has drawn a lot of negative press.

Oh I wouldn’t doubt it. Matt revealed the same thing a few weeks before he was fired I think, or maybe the year before- I can’t remember.

I kinda felt like Reich dropped a lot of passive aggressive jabs in his pressers.

Rhule was the guy behind that.

Doesn't matter now though. With the stuff that's come out from Dianna Russini today, It's pretty much impossible to keep him.

How do you hire a new head coach and ask him to work with somebody who went behind the previous coach's back to talk to the owner about him?

Anyone who would do what was described in that article will not be trusted by a new HC.

Is hard to say how much Rhule was actually responsible for with a guy like that who goes behind people’s backs. I’m sure MR had his fair share but I’m sure Scott was able to hide a few of his sins in MR’s name.

  10. Keep in mind that Tepper interviewed McCarthy twice in 2020 when he wasn’t with a team and nobody knew it until way later.

Harbaugh also called Tepper multiple times last year to discuss the role.

Might be one of those “fancy running into you at my office” type meetings.

Probably not but fun to imagine.

I don't believe either of the Teppers are actually making deals or closing transactions directly or anything of that sort.

With Dave though, I think he expresses preferences over players he wants, players he doesn't care for, how he wants things done, etc.

That's really all the meddling he or any owner has to do to royally screw things up.

Yeah from what has reported, people are just scared to go against Dave.

Dave says he likes Bryce and magically everyone else likes Bryce.

Dave says he likes Reich, so does everyone else.

Dave says run more RPO (and he’s probably right) Frank says his offense doesn’t have RPO- Tepper fires him.

    Cycle continues.

  12. I haven’t heard anything, but just my general knowledge of the team and how the org likes to operate- I think it depends on the GM.

If Tepper keeps Scott, I think he goes and gets one of the 2nd tier OCs. He won’t be able to lure either Johnson but may convince Moore, Kafka, or Frank Smith. Moore and Kafka both interviewed last year.

If Tepper is let go, he may go get a stronger HC who wants roster control. Maybe not a HC/GM combination but somebody with a heavy hand in personnel like Harbaugh or Belichick. Remember Harbaugh reportedly called Tepper multiple times to discuss the role last year but never interviewed.
