  1. Interesting on Thomas Dimitroff. He had some success in Atlanta. Sumersports is the company he started, it’s an analytics based scouting firm so that may catch Tepper’s eye. He also has connections to NE, hence Belichick.

Personally, I still think Tepper is going to go after a HC/GM type and potentially keep Morgan and Samir to support that.

However, two guys I would watch other than Peters (who will have his fair share of options) are:

    Andy Weidl, Asst GM- PIT

    Mike Borgonzi, Asst GM- KC

Ben Johnson will have WAY better options this off-season:

Bears with 2 first round picks in the top 5, DJ Moore, familiar with the division, cap space, tradeable assets in Fields, an improving defense

Chargers - Top 10 QB, top 10 RB that can catch out of the backfield, top safety, great pair of DEs, top 15 WR. He can turn them from pretenders to contenders OVERNIGHT

With that said, any of these franchises will fork out money, so if you're Tepper and have a lifeless team with poor draft capital and no franchise players what's your pitch

Money: He has LOTS of it and has not been shy to flex that wallet, current highest paid coach is Bill B at $20 million a year

Commitment: he needs to know he won't be a one and done head coach, that to overhaul this is gonna take 3 years minimum

Control: he needs to know you won't be meddling with every decision or passing post it notes from your tecmo bowl evaluation

    My offer is:

7 years, $210 million with Ben to pick his GM and it's only Ben and the GM who have final personnel matters

You have shown commitment financially by the annual rate and length of the contract, you've also shown you won't meddle in personnel or pick another flunk GM

Not that I think he will, but considering he will be a brand new 37 year old HC, what happens in your scenario if he turns out like Arthur Smith or Nathaniel Hackett?

Now, I don’t think he will. I think he will be a very good HC for somebody next season. But there are a few reasons why I don’t think this is the best fit for him or your Panthers.

1- He doesn’t have experience developing QBs. Goff already spent quite a bit of time with McVay, O’Connell, and Taylor before he met up with Johnson.

2- Johnson doesn’t really run the type of offense that Bryce is going to be best suited for. Now, a young innovative mind like Johnson will be able to implement a scheme that wil- but will he want to do that?

3- He is going to have quite a few options to pick from. These options are going to have more talent, resources, and likely better owners. Bringing him “home” isn’t much of a play, he doesn’t seem to have cared about living in Detroit and Miami the last few years.

I think your Panthers need a Harbaugh or Belichick type for a little while. Somebody that can build some type of culture and foundation, even if it means some 7-8 win seasons for a few years and then you guys go get your “Ben Johnson”

I think Johnson is a no-brainer to go somewhere like Washington or Seattle (if Pete retires) since there are so many key pieces already in play and a fair amount of resources to use.

  3. I wouldn’t be surprised. What I seen in that press conference yesterday was a man who mentally was like “yeah, you were all right, I’m going to fix it- do we really need to talk about it?”

I think he felt defeated and was trying to be professional by having the press conference but he was just deflecting his way through it to make it as least embarrassing as he could.

I am not going to be surprised one bit if he brings in a HC/GM type or a “President” to run the day to day so he can pull himself somewhat out of the accountability realm and play charity hero instead of football villain.

@Leaky_Faucet We have all heard about Tepper, which we can’t do anything about, but have you heard anything about the issues with Frank now that he is gone? I have to believe his stubbornness to not adapt his system to the team was one of the major issues.

There were reports yesterday on X/Twitter that indicate that, and while it has been rumored I don’t have specific examples like they mention.

Benjamin Allbright claims that Tepper once approached an OC with a play he had seen on TV and drew it up and wanted him To implement it.

Kyle Bailey claims that the “front office” sat down with Reich a while back and asked him to adjust the office to suit Bryce better and he refused to adjust his offense.

So I say it is fairly likely.

I would say Evero the defensive coaches are all doing fine. There have been a number of injuries and despite that the defense is still functional. The biggest problem the defense has is the offense doesn’t sustain drives to keep them off the field and they are gassed by the 3rd quarter, which doesn’t help with field position either.

I think you have a situation of “too many cooks” on the offensive side. I have a feeling if you thin it out a bit you would find more consistency and updated playcalling.

And now it has been thinned out, so we shall see.

That's probably about his only chance of getting decent candidates.

That said, I seriously question whether Tepper knows how to identify "real football people".

He has been around them in Pittsburgh. I’m sure he knows who are real “football guys” in the league. His problem is going to be reaching out to them and admitting he needs help and he can’t build what he wants himself.

Yeah, actually. Our current DC turned down the interim job.

Also, the Broncos are a team with a lot better history and more respected ownership than we are.

David Tepper is considered a bad owner to work for per sources all around the league.

I haven’t had it confirmed yet but I think he turned down the interim role this time as well.

NICOLE'S PICKING OUR COACH AGAIN 🎊

From what I have heard I don’t think that’s going to be the case this year. I think he knows he was sold dreams by Rhule and Frank. I wouldn’t be surprised is Fitterer is gone before EOS as well.

I expect him to put real football people around him this time. He is tired of losing.

Reich was probably brought into this with the idea of drafting his QB and picking his staff. He got the staff... but Tepper demanded Young. Reich caved. And now Young looks really bad, and Reich looks bad as a result.

The real problem here is Tepper. Reich isn't a great coach, but I don't think he's this bad. Every bit of our offseason lands on Tepper. The knives are going to start coming out once heads roll, and I think a lot of people are going to start talking about how this wasn't their choice once they lose their jobs.

This is exactly what happened. Reich was hired believing he would get Carr. Tepper was convinced by Scott to draft a QB and that guy was Young. Frank isn’t one to push back.

  11. I’m standing on what I was told back in the spring and what I shared here.

Reich wanted Carr, the front office was not interested but met with him out of respect for their new HC.

Frank wanted Stroud or Richardson; Fitterer and his team wanted Bryce Young.

The impression I have been given is Bryce Young was a Scott Fitterer pick.

Scott convinced David Tepper that he was the right guy. Frank being new and timid probably didn’t push back on it and caved.

My question is does it even matter? People keep getting fired and hired and yet the results stay the same or get even worse.

One thing people are not considering is the fact that there will likely be quite a few head coaching vacancies this offseason and possibly a couple retirements.

There could be up to 8 openings. How competitive can the Panthers be when there are up to 7 other teams bidding for the same group of coaches?

This may be a situation where you remove the HC, keep most of the staff in order and continue with interim.

  13. Damnit Bruce! I kid, I kid.

A lot of comes down to your team’s offense my friend. Some of it comes down to Bryce. Unfortunately you all will not know which one is truly at fault, if not both for at least another year.

  14. What the hell are you talking about buddy? This is a WCO. It’s the WCO Spread; similar to Philly, KC, and Jax. You don’t see much of the orginal WCO anymore, it’s mostly adapted into various sub sets. Shanahan probably runs the closest thing to the original WCO.

Also, Bryce Young wouldn’t fit the Air Coryell or the traditional Verical Power Run of Panther’s past teams. 1) it requires more drop back time and he is too short to make those across the middle while dropping back 2) It requires deeper throws and attacks the middle which he struggles at.

  15. This is why I am not so sure that Reich gets let go. Bryce is a system QB, he thrives in a WCO/Spread which is what Frank and Brown have experience in.

Somebody like say “Ben Johnson” or “Random OC” wouldn’t just fit. It would need to be somebody out of Reid, Pederson, McVay coaching trees or similar.

One thing I have thought about is if Reich is let go, Tepper could just put a DC type in that role and go get a guy like Bill O’ Brien if Belichick retires or a guy like Eric Bienemy who has tons of experience in this offense should Rivera’s team be fired.

  16. It’s too early to tell with Bryce. You usually need 1.5-2 seasons to tell with a QB. The group around him isn’t very good, and as the article in The Athletic pointed out, not the right scheme players.

Many of his negatives get inflated by that, but he does have some alarming footwork/technique at times as well.

By this time next season, what Bryce is going to be will be clear.

  17. The best thing for the franchise is to let this season and next play out. Your team is loaded with cap in 2025 and they have a first round pick again. It also gives the office time to accumulate more assets and erase any questions it may have about the QB, GM, and HC. By the end of next season you should know all you need to about them.

Do I think this is going to happen? Absolutely not.

I wouldn't be surprised if the defense continues to look....the same.

I am actually sort of impressed with what Ejiro has done despite the injuries to Horn, Jackson, Thompson, Chinn, Bell, Woods, and Houston all at some point this season- he hasn’t done a bad job.

    - The GM gave him Brown, Tuttle, a back up from the Broncos, and two guys from the Patriot’s practice squad to be his DL.

-Same GM signed a 34 year old Houston who has 4 tackles and .5 sacks as his Edge.

-Same GM didnt shore up any positions with depth that he knew were filled with injury prone players.

    - Offense is doing him zero favors sustaining drives and keeping them fresh.

Defense held the Colts to 13 points, the offense gave them 14.
