  1. I don’t know how it will turn out but.. If the guy can’t shine, and they won’t move to replace him that would be a deal breaker for me. I didn’t agree to be a chump for 5 years over a deal I hated to begin with.
  2. We would need to have patience in the QB hunt. Thinking you could just buy your way out of it is pretty questionable thinking. No top 5 trade ups that cripple your next several seasons just to get that 'high hope’ harvest of one player from that year’s crop. Accept your draft position and be smart about it. One thing that would help is remembering you have hired, hopefully (that word again), people that can maximize QB talent. Maybe find someone he thinks he can unlock.
  3. Oh good. So we are 6 years in. I think that going one by one through their turnarounds would be educational. Some of those teams had decades of culture they had to reverse.
  4. Definitely don’t want to do anything that risks slowing his healing and mending, but when he’s healed it is important to get him in and get him through the period of mental healing and learning to trust the repair. Which seems to take a year for many of these rehabbed athletes.
  5. I am gonna be real disappointed if people rationalize themselves to satisfied with a top 25 player from all what we spent. Or at all.
  6. Looks like the reporter called Shocker 154 times.
  7. I don’t think I’ve seen a worse half of football by a QB than Mayfield had to open 2022. Listened to Person. Whatever. I didn’t hear a lot of hype, he said the team loved him personality and character wise (I am paraphrasing). Said number 1 in high school, 1 in college, the team expected him to do the same in the NFL. He said thye press was okay with giving Young a pass for last year, mentioned Troy Aikman’s rookie year and kept that honest by adding some guys have had bad rookie years and never had a good year. Stopped a little short of saying it was a make or break year for Young. Said they wanted to see improvement. ------- I say no telling the future for sure, but he has room to improve and still not be the guy. That’s how bad it was. He has to drastically improve and it has to show up in the chunk play department, and in the W-L department.
  8. Nothing that Jake said really supported what he was saying. Whether you agree or not, Verge did that. Jake is like, well Geno did great with Canales so Bryce will too. It ignores the experience advantage Smith has, and ignores his deep ball reputation. https://atozsports.com/nfl/seattle-seahawks-news/seahawks-geno-smith-named-best-deep-passer-for-the-2022-season-nfl-news/ PLEASE note I am not saying that doesn’t mean Young won’t improve but it’s a lazy job by Jake; the only real commonality is Canales. And Jake works for the team media so what do you think he is going to say, no comment? Haven’t watched Person yet.
  9. Let's just sticky that replay. So people can live in their happy place.
  10. I was joking too, mostly. I think he’ll be better because it is nearly impossible to not be better.
  11. I can help. Keep remembering: pads. Hitting. Game speed. Pressure. First two weeks of camp when it’s all ‘oh boy he is looking great’ let’s wait until actual football before toasting his future.
  12. It was as much about leader and having a captain or whatever. I believe being HC is just s different skill set than being a coordinator. If we have that now I’m good. Respectively: Except you know there are QBs that exceed that. Not sure how much lower I can take those expectations.
  13. My thoughts are... How do you think it would go asking Young to carry the team with his arm? You do have to run the ball to succeed. Running game has long been touted as the best friend a young QB can get Canales came in saying this QB is one of 11 which doesn’t seem like a ringing endorsement of his passer potential. If if it isn’t any of that it is just a breaking down to total fundamental and hoping to build off of that, I guess.
  14. It isn’t unanimous. people appreciate him. We just aren’t feeling real indebted to him (for all those good times we had together). He is unfortunate enough to shine, whenever he does shine, for a losing cause and an increasingly unhappy fan base.
  15. I think it is going to prove to be at least a good try if not a hit. I was a Wilks guy but with Morgan having an influence and Evero in the house I think we are in good defensive hands here. I really mainly wanted a strong leader for the head coach that feels secure enough to hire people that are maybe better at stuff than he is.
  16. 30 years and the last 6 rank *way* down the scale.
  17. Seems like that is why Legette. Gettleman tried tall to offset a wild high QB (which is a very flawed solution on its face). I think the jump ball guy in this sitiuation is a sound approach. Actually with as much air as we will likely see under deep balls, an outfielder type that can flag it down will have an easier time getting to it than an off target flat trajectory ball. More time in the air. Which so will the defenders but we have the jump ball guy, so advantage... maybe. edit: and that is also one of my total favorite things: understanding how to turn a disadvantage into an advantage. If your QB can’t rope a deep ball, you have to find another way.
  18. They must have let the non citizens vote. If they had asked only Panther citizens the outcome would have been much less positive. I think 90% minimum of the fan base wants him out of sight and out of mind and would love to have a way to communicate that to the world, and by extension... Tepper. If I am telling the truth.
  19. That is the only way I see it being possible. They are going to have to at least impede the pursuit somehow. He is not fast enough to succeed as a scrambling QB. At least I do not think he is. The downfield stuff fits in there too. But he has to be able to see downfield via lanes in the protection, pocket wise.
  20. Patriots for a long time, Miami can’t play in January up north in January and couldn’t get home field was my impression without researching each season. so if they did get a wild card it was tough
  21. Well here we go. I hated him outside the pocket. Throwaways galore, getting run down from behind, and yeah he made a few plays too. That doesn’t seem like something that will translate from his school days. I suppose we’ll see.
  22. That is pretty much critical and the biggest question in my mind. A lot say Icky and the C position which will play into it. Someone said our QB had a 30% hit rate on deep balls in school. He looked bad throwing it last year. So it’s a pretty big question mark. The biggest one, really, at this point.
  23. I have said all along that the staff knows one hundred percent what they have. Ands last yuear was a chinese fire drill. Maybe now I should call it a DC fire drill. But there is no reason they can’t come in with a good plan for these players.
