I remember the whole 'can't run between the tackles' thing and the subsequent focus on proving people wrong. He is kind of a poster boy for overpaying over drafting running backs. To me. I don't dislike him at all but he is a short shelf life player when being used a certain way. And if they don't use that, they are leaving something on the table which, after paying so much is difficult to do. He has the receiving ability and I'd have just gotten a D'onta Foreman and let him handle the grunt work and feature CMC on all else, if (I) insist on having him. I am not a personal fan of Kamara but he was a third round pick and has had a real nice career. Better production than CMC at the beginning too.

I think you are doing the devil's advocate for some reason. Maybe you are bored. Several? You mentioned two. Now it is several.... We're going to see, but he has a downgraded receiving complement this week, and downgraded protection. So expecting a replay is not realistic but I expect him to look like an NFL quarterback and the one we have that gives us a chance to win.

Considering those were no doubt top level throws, you take those when they come. I don't think you could say he can't make them; because he just did. So maybe you say he doesn't consistently make them, I say 'who does?'. I don't see how you can look at the overall total picture and say that was backup QB flukey stuff and he'll not be able to do that on the regular. I am for sure not saying he won't miss some throws but what he showed is if he gets the protection he got and makes the right read I think he can eat like a top half of the league QB. I am much more wary of less than perfect communication with the receivers as opposed to lack of physical execution.

Not sure why you'd say that. There were a number of bad throws, so it wasn't perfect. Someone said dropped Ints but it wasn't like in their breadbasket just put where they could have made a play. This is with something like 3 days of reps with the first unit, no preseason ( a big deal to a lot of people). Hadn't been on the field literally in a year. I think we are going to see a very similar Dalton in that regard.

Yeah he was right there with the QB play as being fuging horrendous. I watched the 4th quarter again most of it. He doesn't seem to be winning the initial contact. Not sure how much push he will get but he wasn't manhandled either. The stuff with the stunts, that was a big deal. I don't really have belief that he has fixed that in a camp. But sometimes people can make a jump, a lot of progress in just a short time when something clicks for them. We're about to see, Andy gets that ball out quick which will help.

I never understood why you draft a rookie QB and ship out the best WR on your team signed to a very affordable deal, comparatively anyway. One of the ten football commandments is a running game and defense are necessary to their development but a reliable target at WR has to be one too.

It's not like they needed to discover him on some small college field and point him out to their superiors. This wan't really that hard and the receipts are right here to read in the pre draft threads. Young was just an historic outlier, I can't overemphasize that. And outlying the wrong way, too small.

If I were to attribute stuff I think I would go for the players being not in shape because we can't have two-a-days and the other limitations placed on how much they can train them, the CBA has made it harder. But that's only an opinion too. Something like a muscle tear in Lewis' elbow, I don't know enough to say why that happened. But he missed a lot of time on some personal commitments. Wasn't in the Buffalo game (preseason). I'm not sure if he played a snap preseason or not. Meanwhile, we will be getting some guys back off he 4 game IR Next week. Something like 60 years of football, college and NFL and AFL. I remember before there was a Super Bowl. Played after school as a kid. Played through HS, wasn't gonna make the NFL (hi Bryce), went a different way post HS. It is a hard habit to break as they say. I still would read about it. Looked at the box score and standings. Like it used be when I was a kid and they didn't show the game. Get the newspaper.
