  1. McAvoy is getting a hearing for swinging his stick and didn't hit the guy. Foerster gets 2 min for the same thing, except he went at the back of someone's knees
  2. More SOG. Letting Philly settle in too much.
  3. Guy grabbed his stick and hit himself with it...lol
  4. Vader gets out of his head easily. Gotta keep throwing pucks at him.
  5. Get used to ABC, ESPN, TNT, TBS announcers not knowing anything about the Canes and offering zero credit to the team for anything.
  6. I binged the entire series, including Ep 9, this afternoon. It's a hockey version Hard Knocks, but well worth the watch.
  7. Wife and I were up the shore a couple months ago. Stopped at the boardwalk on a cold, rainy Saturday morning...
  8. Nice. Seen Bruce probably 6 or 7 times. Been a minute since the last one. Good 3-hour show.
  9. Nikishin and Ehlers were both skating at full practice this morning.
  10. I think they needed to see how many 1st round series were going to end last night before they scheduled the start of the 2nd round. My scheduling guess is Sat, Mon, Thu, Sat for the first 4. And I wouldn't be surprised if game 4 is an afternoon game.
  11. If I miss a game for some reason, I typically watch the highlight reel on YouTube. I've not looked into the streaming channels for ABC, where tomorrow's game will be televised. If you're on satellite or streaming, you should have the ability to record it.
  12. https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/3533281/red-hot-stankoven-grows-into-1-st-year-as-hurricanes-2-nd-line-center RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — It had been a while since the Carolina Hurricanes had finished practice, with players coming and going from the locker room. Yet Logan Stankoven was still on the ice, leaving a crowd of reporters patiently waiting at his locker. Such is the dynamic for the 23-year-old as the Eastern Conference's top seed heads into Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs to face the Philadelphia Flyers. Stankoven has been rolling at nearly a point-per-game pace going back to mid-March, including scoring in every game of Carolina's first-round sweep of Ottawa. Beyond the immediacy of that spotlight, though, is the other piece of Stankoven's story: the Hurricanes are betting he can keep growing into the role as second-line center, coming after spending multiple seasons searching for an answer there. FULL ARTICLE IN THE LINK.
  13. It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster. Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
  14. Buffalo is largely ignored and otherwise rather meaningless without hockey or football. They don't have an NBA, WNBA, PWHL or other professional sports franchise, so this is what they hang their hats on. Thing is, nobody in Buffalo pays attention to the Sabres until after the Bills season is done in January or February. Regardless, I'm not sure how Carolina stacks up with them in a 7-game set.
  15. Regardless- not a good look. Buffalo is a tough out.
  16. So, Boston puts a shot on goal, Lyons has it under his blocker side skate, no whistle, get poked in. No goal. Ref: "I meant to blow the whistle for a frozen puck." WTF? Whistle didn't go until the puck was in the back of the net. Not even close.
  17. Edmonton might have a riot on their hands if Anaheim takes them out 4-1.
  18. The LA Kings were swept by the Avs, but the real story here was Anze Kopitar's 20-year career, all with the Kings, coming to an end on home ice. Not a single fan left Crypto.com Arena while the Kings were getting blown out in game 4. A class act across the board, the Avs paying respect, the fans with a lengthy standing O and the announcers even did their part. 2 Cups, 2 Selke, 3 Lady Byng, 1600+ games... Congrats Anze!
  19. Anyone care to bet which team Carolina faces off with very early next season?
  20. Gained a couple extra days off with the Pittsburgh win.
  21. I don't mind a physical hockey game, but many aspects of today's game crossed the line. I lay this at the feet of the refs, who seemingly rewarded the Sens transgressions with power plays. My 3 stars of the series: the Stankoven line, Freddie, all the blue-liners.
  22. For some perspective the next time you encounter an idiot Ottawa fan: 21 power plays, including 4 5-on-3s on home ice. 1 goal. And what did your captain do for ya?
  23. Get one on the board and the crowd is silent.
