  1. Don't know if those words have ever escaped my lips. And I'll be 69 in a couple weeks...lol
  2. You wanted a 100- point goal scorer.
  3. 3 stars right now are Aho, Jarvis, Chatty.
  4. Pretty clear head shot on Blake. Not sure how the refs missed it since Blake's noggin was about the only thing Kerfoot hit.
  5. Trade Orlov and #52. They are the biggest offensive threats Carolina has to worry about. Each of them has a goal and assist for Utah
  6. PP entry is an issue again. Necas and his speed made entry easy. Why is there no net front on the PP?
  7. Rod doesn't coach the PP. What he does is set the lines, and they're another change as well. Rantanen injury speculation is just that. He may have already made up his mind he won't re-sign and there's another trade in the works. Kochetkov... dude... smh. Not saying you'd stop that shot, but at least give yourself a better chance. Cover the short side and stop dipping your shoulder when moving your glove. And you were too deep in the crease- get outside the blue.
  8. Last home game before the 2 week break for the 4 Nation face Off. The Carolina Hurricanes play their final game before the 4 Nations Face-Off break on Saturday, hosting the Utah Hockey Club for the first time. When: Saturday, Feb. 8 Puck Drop: 1:00 p.m. ET Watch: FanDuel Sports Network South, FanDuel Sports Network App | Learn More Listen: 99.9 The Fan, Hurricanes App Odds at Time of Publishing, via Fanatics Sportsbook: Canes -245 - Carolina's Record: 32-19-4 (68 Points, 2nd - Metropolitan Division) Carolina's Last Game: 2-1 Loss to the Minnesota Wild on Thursday, Feb. 6 - Utah's Record: 23-22-9 (55 Points, 5th - Central Division) Utah's Last Game: 3-2 Win (OT) over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday, Feb. 6
  9. Svechnikov scores first for the Canes at home vs. Utah in the last game before a 2-week break for the 4 Nation Face Off. Of course, Vejmelka is probably in net for Utah and could shut out the hapless Canes- who resemble the Dallas Cowboys at this point. A ton of talent and nothing to show for it.
  10. No winners in the loss to Minnesota.
  11. https://athlonsports.com/nhl/carolina-hurricanes/trade-mikko-rantanen-possible-before-deadline-report The Carolina Hurricanes could face another difficult trade deadline decision if they are unable to sign Mikko Rantanen to a contract extension before March 7 with his current deal expiring on July 1. According to Sportsnet insider Nick Kypreos, discussing the possibility on his updated "Trade Board 3.0," the Hurricanes cannot afford a repeat of last season's events. The Hurricanes traded for Jake Guentzel at the deadline only to lose him in free agency three months later. "Although Mikko Rantanen was dealt to the Carolina Hurricanes, I hear it's not a given that he won't be traded again if Carolina can’t get him signed to a long-term deal," Kypreos wrote. "It appears Carolina is no closer to signing him than Colorado was." Rantanen, 28, is in the final year of a six-year, $55.5 million contract and could be seeking a deal in the range of $14 million per year—comparable to Leon Draisaitl’s extension with the Edmonton Oilers. “Carolina can’t really afford to give up Martin Necas and two draft picks for another guy who walks to UFA, after trading for Jake Guentzel only to have him leave last year,” Kypreos wrote, referencing the package traded in exchange for Rantanen. “(Hurricanes owner) Tom Dundon doesn’t want to get burned that way again, so he’s basically got a month to sign him. "If that doesn’t happen by March 7, look for potential Mikko Rantanen fireworks to start up all over again.” The Hurricanes have the advantage of offering an eight-year deal to Rantanen as he's already part of the organization, whereas other teams could only go as high as seven in free agency. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman speculated on Monday's episode of the "32 Thoughts" podcast that Carolina may offer Rantanen a contract worth over $100 million, with an annual cap hit close to $13 million. "This is my theory: they're going to offer him more than that on eight years," Friedman said. "Not more than $14 million (per year), but more than $98 million (overall). They're going to offer him maybe $100 million--somewhere around there--but they're going to beat $98 million. "My guess is they try to keep the AAV (average annual value) around $13 million, maybe a bit less." Carolina acquired Rantanen from the Colorado Avalanche in a three-team trade that also brought in Taylor Hall. Since joining Carolina, Rantanen has scored just two points in six games while posting 66 points in 55 total games this season.
  12. I have Hulu+ Live (includes all ESPN), Netflix, Apple, Amazon Prime. I get Fanduel during the regular season only, because the playoffs are on networks. Still, all of that is less than what I paid for DirecTV
  13. Lol... can't watch this anymore. If they stage some miraculous comeback, I'll watch the highlights tomorrow. But I'm not holding my breath.
  14. Freddie keeping the Canes in this, but they can't draw even. Back-to-back shutouts incoming?
  15. Wild scores with a 4th line, 4-goal forward.... Oh yeah, the Wild is 11-12-1 at home. How/why does Orlov go outside and not back to the middle? Chatty had the puck covered.
  16. Best way to identify them is the almost exclusive use of single-syllable words and constant references to a championship 30 years ago.
  17. The Wild are 4-6 in their last 10 games, and 3 of those 6 losses were shutouts, including their last 2 games (Ottawa 6-0 Saturday night and Bruins 3-0 Tuesday night). Shutouts seem to be a thing... last time the Canes and Wild played, Minnesota shut out Carolina 4-0 in Raleigh. Canes are 12-4-1 following a loss, so there's that. The PP is a dumpster fire and the Wild has the 30th ranked PK in the league. Maybe a chance of a special teams goal tonight?
  18. I guess I don't know what "Rod's system" is. I know he wants pucks on net and I've always looked at that number to check the temperature of their offense. But, there are few players on this roster who are living up to that part of his "system." That said, who, right now, is actually trying to create time & space to get a shot off? Seth Jarvis. But, look at the top SOG on the team: Svech (147), Aho (140), Burns (124), Jarvis (123). The next 3 guys are all defensemen, with Roslovic stuck in amongst them. Hell, the defensemen are shooting more than the forwards! I turned off the game after the second period last night because the Canes were simply passing too much. And, because they already pass too much and don't usually pass with any pace, nobody on the opposing team is caught out of position. In my mind, if the Canes aren't averaging 10 SOG per period, they aren't shooting enough. Other than that, I guess I don't know what RBA's system is.
  19. The Winnipeg Jets team we saw last night was clone of the Canes teams from a few years back.
  20. Shoulda been. Like Jarvy said, "I still don't know what goalie interference is."
  21. Another horrible penalty call. Jets will walk the Canes with officiating like this.
  22. These refs will be doing the Super Bowl Sunday....lol Can't win hockey games with refs like these.
