  1. The Canes got curb-stomped by a 9-12 team last night. I have no confidence they can beat a 10-12 team with a better D than Edmonton. That being said, as others have pointed out, the Canes are streaky and there's no better time than now. As for everything else that's not happening with this team- far as I'm concerned it's the best team in the NHL on paper. Problem is, the game is not played on paper. Dundon and Waddell can start tearing this whole thing down for a retool tomorrow and I'd be okay with it. My trade bait list: Necas, Drury, Martinook (UFA). Pesce, DeAngelo. Both Raanta and Kochetkov. I don't see Orlov going anywhere with a $7.5M salary for the next 2 years, otherwise, I'd add him to the list as well. The first 4 guys on that list could bring in some serious talent.
  2. I'll be down for the count tonight with a 4AM wake up call. If it's good, I'll watch the replay tomorrow afternoon; if not, I won't have missed anything.
  3. During the Canes 6-2 win over the Sabres, DW was in the booth with Tripp and Will. He said he was not going on the road trip because he had work to do. I also see the Leafs are down 3 defensemen and emergency recalled Max LaJoie, among others, to fill their holes on the blue line. Maybe there's a deal to be made that includes bringing a goalie our way in exchange for Drury and a future, or Pesce straight up? Would have to be a 3-team deal because Toronto has Samsonov and a 2, not a 1A/1B like the Canes, so they won't be shipping a goalie.
  4. Oilers have won 4 straight since their loss to the Canes in Raleigh a couple weeks ago. They get last change so I expect to see them trying to get Draisaitl and McDavid on the ice against the Canes 4th line. Might see some line changes from RBA.
  5. In Tripp's words, that's really coming to the top of the crease and challenging someone.
  6. Standings as of December 5: Anybodyhome- 1 Harbingers- 1 WelshPanther- 1 MillionDollarCam- 1
  7. I'm a little surprised the AD and HC at FSU didn't go full scorched earth on the committee. It would be poetic justice if FSU won.
  8. So you bring up Mahomes as an example and then decide to invalidate your own example and bail out with the NFL and NCAA being different. No sh1t Sherlock. And yes, the Committee has a credibility problem. They brought it on themselves.
  9. Again, I will ask who the last good NFL QB to come out of Alabama was? Maybe Tua in Miami, but the jury might still be out on that one, not to mention he only played a partial season. Joe Namath might be the last decent QB to come from Alabama.
  10. So again, why play the season? If being undefeated and winning your conference championship does not make you good enough, fug the season. You've basically admitted it's an eye test by saying they are no longer good enough, although they were good enough to beat everyone on their schedule. And those people would be wrong. So, by your own hypothetical, if Mahomes gets hurt tonight and can't finish the season, the Chiefs are out of the playoffs, right? Fug their record, they're no longer the "best?" Perhaps defining what "best" is would be nice. Because if winning every fugging game you play doesn't make you one of the best, I'm not sure what does.
  11. So why play the season? Like Booger McFarland said, just have a parade of teams and pick the best 4 if playing the games doesn't count and it's all an eye test. I have a strong dislike for FSU, but look, they beat everyone on their schedule and the conference championship. Georgia lost 1 game on the last few seasons and likely better than 2 of the 4 teams in. Again, doesn't look like playing the games matters.
  12. Let's just say, this is where the puck meets the ice and we'll find out just what kind of team this is.
  13. And the converse of that is the other 1-loss teams lost games they should have won.
  14. How is Georgia not the 4th? They've lost 1 game in the last 2 1/2 years or something...
  15. Pretty bad. Reviews being what they are today, that would not have stood.
  16. Michigan, Washington, Georgia, FSU. But the committee will find a way to get Alabama from 8 to 4. Gotta put FSU in just because they're undefeated. Georgia, despite losing today, still won 29 straight games.
  17. Can you briefly refresh my memory? I'll look it up on YouTube.
  18. I don't pay much attention to college football until bowl season, but if what I'm watching is the best of the ACC, they don't deserve a playoff spot if there were 8 teams going to the playoff.
  19. From an X's and O's perspective they were great together. From an enthusiastic hockey fan, maybe not. But it was a nice change of pace.
  20. Someone needs to work with him to improve his pugilistic skills. Noesen, are you listening?
