  1. Should have at least 21 points on the board, but 2 punts on 4th and less than 1 with absolutely nothing to lose. The Panthers deserve to get trounced today and next week. Head coach and OC are spineless bitches.
  2. Forward Ondrej Kase has been in concussion protocol since October 13. He has recently taken part in team practices and morning skates in a no-contact jersey, but there is no current timetable for his return. Goaltender Frederik Andersen suffered a lower-body injury on November 6. He has been practicing with the team since December 8, but there is currently no timetable for his return. Forward Max Pacioretty suffered a torn Achilles tendon in August. He has been skating for over a month now and just this week graduated from the no-contact sweater he had been working in. Originally expected to return in February, Rod Brind'Amour said on Thursday that it is possible Pacioretty joins the lineup within the next 10 games. Tough little stretch of games upcoming: Busy week coming - we're doing the Chinese Lantern Festival at Koka Booth tomorrow night, Styx concert in Greensboro next Saturday with an overnite stay and the Canes at home against NJ on Tuesday. I love retirement.
  3. Nice. I'll be the first to admit I was very wrong about Staal going into the season. I thought he might be close to washed up and ready to call it a day. But, while at a couple games, I had the chance to watch him away from the puck (which isn't very often he's not around the puck), and he is able to use leverage, size and his time/distance judgment is off the charts. Not to mention he may the strongest 1 arm guy with the puck I've ever seen. The way he keeps guys off him while skating with the puck is pretty cool to watch.
  4. Beauty goal by Noesen. Aho had the 5 hole, just off the post but Stef in the right place.
  5. I'm not in attendance and don't subscribe to either stream, so forgive me for not posting much tonite. Raanta hurt, or...?
  6. Reading the feed on The Score. That's what it said. Sorry.
  7. What was the illegal equipment penalty on Martinook?
  8. Raanta confirmed: Now I'm a little ticked off. Either tell us Kochetkov is a little dinged and can't start or tell us why Raanta deserves this start over the best goalie on the roster?
  9. I'm 66 and I know for a fact one of those still works for me! I have a really nice table saw out in my shop that works exceptionally well, it just never gets used. Know what I'm sayin'?
  10. Even though Tom Brady "airing it out" these days amounts to a 15-yard pass.
  11. Joe Namath ended with the Rams, Johnny Unitas with the Chargers, Chris Carter went to Miami, Chris Chelios ended up with the Atlanta Thrashers, Emmitt Smith ended his career in Arizona, Shaq went to Boston, Hakeem Olajuwon to Toronto, Willie Mays was a NY Met, Henry Aaron went to Milwaukee and Tom Brady will be in Tampa. All stayed too long and it was sad for me to see everyone on this list both in their prime and long after they should have walked away.
  12. He is expected tonite. Final lines won't be announced until after lunch sometime.
  13. I think the Panthers shot their proverbial load last night in a 7-2 blowout win against the Habs at home. A back-to-back and having to make the trip up from Florida might slow them down a bit. And the Canes have been off for a couple days, putting Kochetkov in net against their #2 and the Staal line playing lights out against everyone.
  14. That rental fee might be as much as the Canes best forwards are making now, and would only serve to hurt the franchise going forward.
  15. Easy fix: Bring Kobe Jones (DE) up from the practice squad. Insert him into the game on the Bucs first obvious passing down and tell him to destroy Tom Brady, regardless when the whistle blows. I don't care if it's 10 seconds after he throws the ball, just destroy him. Of course that means the team will be short a DE after he gets ejected, but the Bucs will try to run the ball and with Jones out of the game, that means Brian Burns will have to play the run. Good luck with that.
  16. Best American born hockey player ever. But, he is 34 and plays a sh!t-ton of minutes. Unfortunately, Chicago decided to rebuild, but held onto he and Jonathan Toews. Neither of them were very happy when very good players like Artemi Panarin, Alex DeBrincat, Marc Andre Fleury, Brandon Hagel, Duncan Keith were all traded as part of the rebuild. Both Kane and Toews are making $10.5M AAV on their current deals, and the 2 of them together make more than the other 12 forwards on the roster combined. Sure, they're both UFAs at the end of the season, but Kane is well off his career number with only 25 pints to date (5G, 20A) and he's a -21. He averages 27 goals a season and will be lucky to hit 15 this season. I thought he would have been a great fit a couple years ago before he got his current deal, but anything now I think is just a rental.
  17. Drury is definitely collecting some miles this year.
  18. "Polarizing" in what regard? As in, total hit or miss?
  19. Never thought I'd say this, but that was a pretty boring hockey game. A shooting gallery on one side and nothing else happening on the other end. Patrick Kane plays like he's given up and Chicago, winners of 3 cups in 5 years not that long ago, are a mere shell of themselves. They aren't a rebuild, they are struggling for relevance.
  20. Same with the cross check into the boards on Noesen while they were on the PP.
