  1. We are still a good quarterback away. No way to know if the qb we draft is going to be good, or how long it will take him to become good.
  2. I think to many want to cut him simply because of his association with Rhule. Not a good reason. He is cheap, a solid backup and already here. Ironically, Wilkes used him better and more in than Rhule in all his previous games. As far as his receiving ability, he was targeted 17 times and caught 14. Not exactly Pro bowl caliber, but decent numbers for a backup running back on a team that threw the ball less than just about every NFL team.
  3. Hubbard averaged nearly 5 yards a carry on an offense that everyone and their brother knew would be running the ball. And he is relatively cheap. He even caught a few balls after we got rid of Rhule. Not really any downside to keeping him.
  4. 90-95% of the time, if a team loses its starting qb, the team is in trouble.
  5. Would love to see what he could have done with a good qb/coaching staff. Good luck in Chicago, except when playing us.
  6. Any GM that bases a choice on a single game should be canned immediately.
  7. Chicago has had some decent receivers. But they haven't had many qb's decent enough to cause a receiver to want to stick around.
  8. Fwiw, I am just playing devils advocate here. But, if you like them both, and you know you aren't going to get either one at nine, then you trade up. And given that the Texans weren't going to trade down, Chicago was the only option. That being said, we probably do have a favorite and will likely stick at 1 unless the Texans make some absurd offer.
  9. Its not contingent on that at all. The move would be contingent on us not caring whether we draft Young or Stroud. I am not saying we would or should do it. Or that we don't have a favorite. But if we TRULY didn't have a favorite, I could see us trading down a single spot to pick up a extra pick or two.
  10. But he said if we are ok with either one. I would prefer Stroud just because I think he has NFL size, but if the staff feels that both Young and Stroud are roughly even, and the Texans wanted to trade, why not?
  11. Its definitely in question. He "might" be the better college quarterback although statistically, they are almost identical for this past season. It remains to be seen who the better pro qb is.
  12. The only way we will know if we go fleeced is to look at this a few years from now. If we draft Young or Stroud, and they turn out to be the next Patrick Mahomes, it was a great deal. If we draft one of them and it turns out that the qb is a bust, and the Bears become a playoff contender, then we got fleeced. If both teams still suck, then it doesn't matter.
  13. Well, the risk here is extremely high. If it works out, we could be a contender for ten years. If not, we are going to give Chicago a bunch of high draft picks.
  14. Once Rhule left, several of them started playing better. Marshall, Hubbard, and Christensen began to look like actual NFL players.
  15. He hasn't said, and he probably wouldn't. But there is this. Lamar Jackson Contract: Baltimore Ravens 'Best Offer' Already In? - Sports Illustrated Baltimore Ravens News, Analysis and More Whether the reports are accurate or not is anyone's guess.
  16. Fwiw, I don't think you can accurately predict NFL success. You make an educated guess and hope it works out.
  17. Giants, QB Daniel Jones agree to four-year, $160 million contract (nfl.com)
  18. Probably not, at least when the other team knows you are going to run the ball. Or throw the passes short. If you look at the numbers from that day, no one had decent game offensively. Donta Foreman had probably his worst game of the year. I think the reason Cam was such a huge threat running the ball was that he could pass it pretty well to. In 2015, his deep balls were fantastic, which made his runs that much harder to contain. Same with Jackson I think. Take away the passing game, and he becomes just another running back.
  19. In fairness, Jackson was coming off the Flu, and there was about a 30-40 mile an hour wind blowing. Which essentially made it old school, run the ball and play defense style football.
  20. If we get a chance, I would take a shot at Stroud. Actually, think he is a better choice than Young because of the size. But that being said, those numbers are college numbers, and college numbers when he played on a team that had significantly more talent than their opponents. He was pretty good in college. Whether that xfers to the NFL is anyone's guess. But as I said, I hope we can draft him.
  21. I agree, and I am glad I am not the one making the call. Of course, we could make the deal, but wait to pull the trigger after the first pick is made, but the other team may not be willing to wait.
  22. If we move to three, we shouldn't pull the trigger until after Chicago makes its pick. Otherwise, someone might decide to make the Bears a big offer and we don't get one of the top two anyway.
  23. Unless someone makes Chicago an offer they can't refuse to move up to the top spot.
  24. If we had good quarterbacks, would we have thrown it more? I am not saying we are set at TE, but I find it difficult to judge based on the past 2-3 years.
