@CRA I owe you an apology. I thought being super upset at Canales/the team for not playing the starters much in the preseason was overblown. And I still don't know how much that would've changed things given how much of an abject disaster this team looked like yesterday, but it's clear as day they needed more live reps together.
At least no one got hurt in the preseason! We might have lost even worse.

After preseason game 1 Dave Canales was asked why he played starters in Tampa but not in Carolina. He calmly stated that Tampa had a QB competition and Carolina didn't. "We know who our guy is here."
I just don't see any scenario where a new coach with control over this choice would make Bryce the defacto starter after what we saw last year unless it was mandated when he was hired.
So yes, I think Tepper meddled by only considering coaches that were onboard with project Bryce.

Not sure how much we can take away from the run game when they got down so fast. So I wouldn’t say the backs or like had a bad performance in that respect.
I’ve been a Bryce supporter and I’m going to keep an open mind about it because he is going to play regardless so we will see if he can sink or swim this year. With that said, it’s getting late early for him. Just poor awareness yesterday, sporadic accuracy, etc.
Mingo is just awful, shoot him to the moon.
If you can declare Mingo to be awful and worthy of ejection to outer space why is so hard to do the same for Bryce? They were drafted at the same time. What has Bryce done to deserve more leash or an open mind?

These guys are working to put food on the table and a roof over the heads of their families and they "don't care."
I mean it's more gas in the lambo and a roof on their third home, but I take your point, they're working!

Any kind of turn around would have to start with this organization doing something right. What on Earth has given you the impression that’s going to happen inside five years?

There are plenty of us who saw this disaster coming.

Sure things are drafted every single year. Hell some sure things go undrafted. The inability to identify a sure thing from a false promise doesn’t change what either is.

Canales wrote a book about overcoming infidelity, binge drinking and a porn addiction.
I think he sees his own story as a journey and is projecting that onto the team. This is NFL my dude, by the time these dudes figure who they are you’ll be fired and they’ll be on different teams. Stop making excuses, it’s only week one!

Had to let my wife suffer on the PC today to catch her game (Giants).
But holy poo did I suffer in the recliner. Ended up turning it off at halftime with a, "Jesus Christ, this kid fuging sucks."All Bryce had to do was not look overwhelmed. I understand that it's a new regime, but the QB looked like the biggest issue on the offense today. Protection + weapons were nowhere near as bad as last season but somehow Bryce was worse than he was under Reich/Tabor and that is alarming to say the least.
It was one thing working with not having the physical skillset of other guys, but to not show... well... anything? It might still be too early, but that 62-sack rookie season might have broken any chance he had in the league.
The only rationalization (or coping, as the unstable like to say) is that this is a new head coach with one year of play calling experience, so now we're going to get to experience those growing pains as well as those that come with a second year QB following an atrocious rookie season. If this is what we're seeing every week, burn it all down. If there starts to be some semblance of competent football though then the front office is going to have to set them up for success. That might not be with Bryce should today's trend continue.
The kid can still throw more than 40yds and the folks pretending otherwise are still dipshits though! I SAID WHAT I SAID. c('.'c)
No one cares about you acting enlightened after you’ve shouted down any criticism for months and actively insulted people’s intelligence for daring to be skeptical about Bryce. Sure he can heave it 40 yards, just 8 yards off target. You can keep trying to defend your terrible takes all you want. I’d rather you just do the brainless job of embedding other people’s thoughts and collecting pie.

You lose a team fast like this. How hard and precise do you think your WR run their routes when they never see a catchable ball? Sure there are some pros with pride like AT, but we have some other cats on this team like DJ that already have a history of getting mouthy about not getting balls. An opening blowout like today puts a lot stress on an already fragile situation. Canales pinch myself routine is already old, he needs to work on his second book… How I quit binge drinking TWICE!

Literal nonsense
Bears with Fields (no, our ineptitude bailing the Bears out doesn't make it one that worked out)
Patriots with Mac Jones
Steelers with Pickett
Giants with Daniel Jones
Jets with Darnold
Washington with Dwayne Haskins
Bucs with Jameis
Titans with Mariota
If you miss on a Top 10-15 QB, it screws your franchise for years trying to replace them unless you get super lucky before that 4-5 year mark, like the Bears with us or the Jets with Rodgers. Those other teams have all been trying to solve their QB situation since those picks, and only Washington and the Bears seem to have found long term solutions since then, maybe.
The problem is franchises don’t give up on high picks as soon as they should. We had no issue walking away from Matt Corral quickly. But because of the capital invested in Bryce we have to suffer far longer than we should.

Thank god none of these players got injured in preseason, we’d really have been doomed then.

Anyone expecting anything different should seriously ask themselves why.

So by that weighting the only three players that out performed their draft position in the last decade were all traded away for peanuts.

LOL Moton’s agent is probably happy dancing about the barrel they have the Panthers over. If that restructuring is the only real option that’s A LOT of leverage.

My god, an entire season of historically awful football is fogotten like grains of sand on the wind by the same crowd anointing the new hope on one preseason drive against the Bills 2nd/3rd string defenders, which also required a 4th conversion.
Yall can drink the kool aid I’ll keeping pitching my tent in the prove it campground.
Stir the pot take: Plummer looked better, with less….by a mile.

I think the curse of the black cat isn't given enough credit. I've never been much for superstition but I've come to accept it's a blind spot and the Panthers are just cursed.

Beuerlein looked really good that year. He was a statue, but he had great accuracy in a clean pocket. He was on the team for years, but that 99 year was so good I'd almost classify him as a one year wonder as well.
Plot twist, Beuerlein went on to have a decorated acting career under the pseudonym Eric Bana. /s

Derrick Brown potential season ending knee injury
in Carolina Panthers

Not surprising even one little bit. I felt that our odds for a significant injury were higher because we bubble wrapped the team in the preseason. They went from playing completely guarded football to full contact high violence with no on ramp.
