  1. Great work as usual ... both here and Along the Sidelines. Thanks. Please tell me you are spending Thanksgiving in Dallas. Looking forward to Victory Monday and exclusives of Hardy's meltdown when his old team gives them a beat-down.
  2. I knew it! One of the kids said "Look! Even the camera guy wants the Panthers to win." Thought it was funny and hit rewind to watch again. Great job Jeremy!
  3. How can you not like this move? Giving up practically nothing, paying him practically nothing (Bears covered most of that) and bringing him back to his natural position where he was very productive. With CJ out, we have very little at DE. With all his bonehead penalties, Ealy seems closer to being in the doghouse and riding the bench. If Allen returns to being half the DE he was before becoming an OLB for the Bears, we just upgraded an area that was a glaring weakness. Personally, can't wait to see him in a Panthers uniform.
  4. Didn't say that he didn't do it ... just said that he should. However, I agree with your point. Need to deliver when it is time. For his sake ... it's good that game 1 is not at BOA. A couple more drops and the boo-birds might storm the field.
  5. Seriously ... glad others feel this way too. After first game ... talked about it being a quick fix and just needs to get back to doing what he used to do. Second game ... same thing, almost as if his ego was shrugging it off. If it's that easy, then fix it and start consistently catching the ball. Until then ... get off twitter and wake up every day being thankful that you are even on an NFL roster.
  6. Hope he gets a long, hard look during preseason. Looking forward to the Bills game. DG didn't have many options during FA or the draft to address the position. Hopefully, we got a steal with Williams and he can step in as an upgrade ...OR ... we get lucky with a vet that doesn't make a final roster.
  7. 'The Panthers offense struggled again overall today. Cam Newton was either sacked or forced to scramble on a good number of snaps. This is starting to be a concern and brings back memories of last season. The offense needs better play selection with quicker developing routes along with better protection if it hopes to improve this season. ' Wow ... sounds familiar. A porous OL and Shula's offense. SSDD. Please let there be hope.
  8. Jeremy ... how do you keep track of which huddler made purchases and how much? I use Amazon and will use your link ... but how do you know it is for me vs. anyone else that uses the link.?.
  9. Seriously ... not a cowherd fan but thought he gave Harbaugh props and tried to carry him through the interview. Now my question is ... did Harbaugh not take his meds this morning or is he always that way.?. Thought he might be getting too much negative PR from leaving the 49ers, now I think he is not getting enough.
  10. Nailed it Jeremy. Bersin was slowly becoming a fan favorite until he started returning punts, then went straight to the doghouse. He was clearly out of his element. We should have had a legitimate PR with experience at that position. DG addressed that during the offseason with bringing Ginn back ... which was sorely needed. Lets get behind this kid again because quite frankly, if its 3rd down in a clutch situation, I feel good about Bersin being on the field.
  11. At first it was amusing to read the blind-faith homers rationalize the picks ... even the latest knucklehead refuting that we should have gotten OL help. Seems to be even worse than last year. We went from 'answer is already on the roster' with Bell & Chandler to two retreads that have more drama than ability. Before I destress and stop reading ... MAJOR PROPS to Jeremy. The man has been spot on and is connected. Thanks for the insight.
  12. Well .. 'cant teach big' as Guttleman would say. Stays true to his belief ... probably to a fault. Dont think we needed to move up that far to get him. Wow ... seriously thought we were moving up to get OL help. Cant believe we will go another year without it.
  13. Add Shaun King to the mix ... Panthers are the biggest Day 1 Loser ... 'Doesn't know what Dave Gettleman was thinking' ... if they wanted to go LB, better players were available. Time for the Homers to hate ... analysts know nothing ... fans know less ... OUR GM is the only person on this planet with football knowledge. Same group that was defending Hurney and every move the Panthers made. Not saying Shaq is a bad player but even he was surprised to be picked on day 1.
  14. He did play safety for one game ... thought it was only in high school. If you are talking about nickel coverage, Luke and TD are the LBs and I don't see that changing. The third LB would be replaced by a CB. In dime coverage, Luke will be the only LB on the field. Sean is a capable DC and will find a place for him. If nothing else, Shaq increases our speed and sideline - sideline coverage. Should be a big upgrade covering RBs out of the backfield when in the base defense. Going to say a prayer tonight that some offensive tools fall into our lap tomorrow (OT&WR).
  15. I am all for getting rid of Harper but if I recall correctly, Shaq hasn't played safety since high school.
  16. Great athlete but not sure how he makes us immediately better. Would feel better about this pick if we didnt need immediate upgrades at other spots.
  17. Would be happy as long as rds 1 or 2 resulted in one of the OTs. Seriously doubt that Fisher is available.
  18. Smart move by Cowboys to link most of his compensation to being on the active roster.
  19. Nope ... would never just let him walk. They shouldn't have done that with Peppers either. For whatever reason, if his future is not Carolina, trade and get picks / players. Of course, the only team that will accept a trade is one that has reassurance from his agent that a long term deal will get done. This scenario probably wont happen but ..... I see Cam as somebody that may enjoy a big market AND Gett as the type of GM that might just say no ... if Cam wants the whole bank. Good thing is ... we will know soon enough.
  20. Teams don't want a QB under a franchise tag for 2 reasons ... 1) you don't want a QB at the helm of your offense if he is disgruntled or doesn't want to be there (not saying that is the case for Cam) 2) franchise tags for QBs are BIG $$ and a BIG cap hit for the current year. There's no reason they can't get a deal done before the current contract expires ... unless there is a gap that neither side is willing to fill (ie. money). Cam may want the whole bank and Gett is not willing. If that's the case, it wouldn't make sense to tag him unless it is a tag & trade.
  21. The 'homerism' is back just like it was last year when everybody was on board with Bell & Chandler, including threads like these. Remmers wouldn't have been on the team nor seen the field unless it was for injuries. Thus far, Gett has shown the ability to evaluate college talent and make decent draft picks. That's what he did for the Giants. He hasn't shown the ability to give his coach a competitive roster and adequately address weaknesses, while building through the draft. Yes, we were limited due to the cap situation and he has only been here a short time ... everybody knows that. However, Bell and Chandler .... really? I think he truly believed it and that would have been his answer, even if he had the money. He also passed on late round OTs that would have been upgrades to the current roster. Truth is that there wasn't much available in free agency this year to upgrade our OT situation with capable starters ... much less studs. The best of the group stayed with their former teams, as expected. We dropped a guy at the bottom and picked up one close to the bottom, with a glimmer of hope that a previous relationship with our position coach will make him adequate again. For me ... the question is does Gett really believe that Oher IS the answer or is he creating competition. Also, nothing has been done yet to address our #2 or #3 CB (depending on where you slot Bene), WR or safety positions. However, it is still early. Until we know how the rest unfolds ... he doesn't get the keys to the house. He has an obvious talent for assessing college talent but is he cerebral enough to be a good GM.?. Jury is still out.
  22. I remember Hurney making the same comment about free agency ... seriously.
  23. Big upgrade at a position of need. Glad he is back. Hopefully, Shula gets him more involved in the offense too. I like the possibilities he brings to the running game. Would much rather see Ginn on the end around vs. Cotchery. Mostly looking forward to not having that 'sinking feeling' every time our punt return team takes the field.
  24. Before this signing, we had no vetetan depth or competition. Be patient ... add Free and a draft ... and at least we have competition that doesnt include Bell or Chandler.
  25. I am tired of holding my breath with a knot in my stomach every time our punt return team takes the field. Sign the man to a reasonable contract amd check that need off the list.
