  1. So Cam Newton goes to Auburn, plays with a bunch of guys that will never sniff the NFL and are literally playing the last season for the rest of their lives, and it’s an era of college football where players don’t get paid and are playing for nothing more than the dream of winning a national championship, in the BCS era where losing one game possibly ends that dream and then comes to the NFL and realizes several players are indifferent to winning or losing and our just playing to get a check and feed their families and any game that they don’t suffer a career ending injury is a win in their eyes and Cam is dumbfounded to understand that

Saying theres a locker room full of losers doesnt mean each person in the locker room is a loser. Even a casual fan would know Steve Smith played every down like it was his last whether he was up 4 touchdowns or down 4 touchdowns. Cam knows that too.

I think alot of people forget what a shitshow that 2010 season was. The lockout was coming next year and JR basically gutted the team over salary concerns. John Fox had ran his course as the coach but JR was too cheap to fire him so he basically let him coach a lame duck year. Fox had no interest in winning and had no interest in building for a future he wouldnt be a part of and you go 2-14 as a result. I hardly doubt Cam showed up to the facility 4 months later surrounded by a unit hungry to win a Super Bowl that year

  2. Washingtons defense was average all year and they are only still playing because because the greatest rookie QB of all time fell in their lap

Our defense was never good and people are pissed we let players walk that were part of that defense that wasnt good lol

we put all our resources this offseason into fixing the offensive line and now outside of Moton our line looks set for the next 5 years. This year Im sure we will put that same effort into rebuilding the defense

Because you don’t want to give up a huge chunk play early that allows the opposing team to run the clock down to the point that if they score a TD you have no chance.

Worst case scenario is they kick a missable field goal.

They were playing against Daniel Jones and a hobbled Malik Nabers. You would have thought they were scared of getting beat deep by Mahomes and Tyreek Hill with how far off they were playing

  4. Cam explained this on his pod and caught a lot of flack because people think game manager is a negative label

there's game managers and game changers. The players like Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson that can carry an entire offense and it's on their shoulders to win the game

a game manager is tasked with not losing the game. get the ball to your playmakers and dont turn the ball over. some do it better than others

Ppl really need to start putting some respect on Hubbard's name he gets way to much hate around here. I seen a very quick to hit holes and burst I didn't know he had. He plays all out every play

We were spoiled by mccaffrey and people look at him as a downgrade without acknowledging every RB in the NFL would also be a downgrade from mccaffrey

Problem is we don't identify the problems correctly.  Start with the first year you mentioned.

2020.  Problem identified as Teddy B as you said.  In reality, Teddy B was perfectly positioned and paid to be a bridge QB.  The real problem, was Matt Rhule wasn't capable of doing NFL basics.  Practicing, game prep, etc.   So you got a know nothing overseeing an all college staff.   We weren't being an NFL team during the week.  Which Teddy called out after he was thrown under the bus and was right about.  We got off a plan into free wheeling nothingness of forever rebuilding and winning now all at the same. Fast forward to that camp where cameras got access for the first time in COVID.....and it was 100% obvious Rhule was just a clown drowing.

and all skip to your last

2024 season - QB deemed the clear problem.  In reality, we have a front office and leadership problem.  This franchise hasn't had a legit plan of action with good folks at the top since the day it fired Ron Rivera.  The fact Bryce Young was benched week 2 and the offseason was handled like it was, preseason was handled like it was and our QB room looked the way it did just confirms that.   This present team at the top, is still a mismatch of Tepperism.   The clear cut problem is you got David Tepper just randomly throwing people together and calling all the big shots too much.  Each year we carve out a problem and assign it all the blame and excuse everyone that remains

Dont disagree at all. In hindsight like I said Teddy should have played out his 3 year deal

the mistake was thinking we were sitting on a gold mine on young talent (which wasnt necessarily wrong) and thinking simply upgrading the QB position would immediately make us contenders. I think Chinn looking like a future hall of famer his rookie year and Burns having his breakout year made them think they didnt need a rebuild anymore

  7. 2019 - Firing Rivera was the right choice. His tenure had clearly run its court

2020 offseason - Luke retired. Cam had a lot of question marks and a lot of his money coming due. I didnt agree with releasing him and still don’t but it was at least understandable. Rebuild was coming and he hired a college coach that successfully rebuilt 2 dead college programs. Signed a decent QB that was never intended to be long term answer but was a game manager and was familiar with the offense

2020 season - By all accounts the team over-performed. We were expected to be the worst team in football but were pretty much in every game. This was despite our best player CMC missing the bulk of the season. Draft picks like Chinn looked like stars and Brown at least looked the part. Burns had a solid year. Robbie Anderson and DJ Moore with Samuel looked like a very good receiving corps for the future. The clear flaw on the team looked to be Teddy. Which brings us to…

2021 offseason - We look to have a very solid young core of players, but looks like we need to upgrade the QB position if we want to contend. We trade for a talented QB in Darnold who at the time seemed to be a victim of being in the QB graveyard with the Jets. Relatively low risk move since it only requires a 2nd round pick. Draft the best corner in the draft as we are in a division with Tom Brady still and one of our biggest problems the year before was getting off the field on 3rd down

2021 - Start 3-0. Darnold looks good. Defense looks elite. Burns and Reddick are a nightmare for QBs and secondary looks stout with Horn immediately looking elite. Team looks ready to compete and starts making “win now” moves like trading for Henderson and Gilmore. CMC gets hurt and the wheels fall off Darnold. Horn out for the year too. Sitting at 5-5 and Darnold is hurt but playoffs are reachable so we sign Cam. Cam thrown into a new offense halfway through the season after sitting on the couch and the results are expected and season goes off the rails but there is clearly still alot of talent on the roster

2022 offseason - Darnold doesnt appear to be the answer so we trade for Mayfield who everyone agrees is a clear upgrade. Draft elite linemen prospect in the draft as the skill position players are still good as a whole. Also sign solid OL free agents to finally fix the biggest issue on the team

2022 season - Mayfield bombs. Rhule loses team, season starts horribly and Rhule gets fired after 5 games. Time to finally rebuild the right way…instead team rallies around Wilks. We trade CMC and get a ransom of picks, team finishes strong behind power run system and we end up playing for the division in the 2nd to last game

2023 offseason - Team is built to be a solid 6-9 win team, but now we find ourselves in a division with Tom Brady retired and Derrek Carr, Baker Mayfield, and Desmond Ridder as the QBs and the Saints and Bucs look like their window is closed. If we can finally get the right QB to pair with a solid defense and running game we can have the division handled until the other teams find their long term QB. We hire a QB whisperer coach and go all in on getting our QB and draft the one that is pretty much the universal consensus best choice

2023 season - Disaster. QB we went all in for busts. Coach is over his head. OLine doesnt fit the system, and we got rid of players that could have helped the QB in order to get the draft capital to get him. Coach fired halfway through. Hard to blame the QB for a failed experiment all around and too early to give up on him

2024 offseason - build around the QB and put all resources into improving everything around him. Draft a receiver, hire a QB whisperer coach, use free agency to upgrade the OLine at the expense of leaving the bucket empty on defense

2024 season - QB clearly the problem and here we are

it’s easy to look back and see that Tepper (assuming he calls the shots) managed to get every single move wrong but I think the context and the situations we were in at the time at least makes them reasonable and understandable. Hindsight is always easy when you look back. If it means anything at least he is willing to admit a mistake once its obvious and immediately cut bait. But to be honest when you look back on things Im not sure how much differently I would have done them. The biggest mistake was thinking that because we hit on some draft picks and somewhat overperformed in 2020 it made him reverse course on the rebuild and immediately start trying to win now. Biggest change I would have made was letting Teddy play out his 3 years while still building the roster and then deciding whether we were ready to go all in or whether we needed to wait for the right QB. I think seeing the young talent we had and starting 3-0 in 2021 made the organization believe they were just a player or a move away from being able to contend immediately

I think people are making too much of this idea.  Even for as revered as the Manning family is, if they're really the only ones to do that since John Elway, and do it twice, then a lot of people will turn on them in the football community.

I think if social media was what it is today, when Eli was drafted, that wouldn't have gone over like it did, social media would have a field day with it.

Plus, if we're smart and draft a true #1 WR with our first rounder this year, I think that alone could be very attractive to Arch and the family with already having that at his disposal.  Eli and his dad didn't force their way out of SD because they were just a mess of a franchise, it was because at the time everyone knew the ownership wasn't really all that interested in trying to win, they just wanted to make money off the NFL team they owned.

And despite all the dumb decisions Tepper has made, nobody can argue that he's just in it for the money, all he wants to do is win, and I think that would be a key difference to the Manning clan than with what happened with the Chargers and Eli back in the day.

The funniest part of that whole debacle is that the Chargers ended up with by far the better QB in that draft and people only forget it because somehow the Giants tripped their way into 2 fluke championships

  9. Feel for you man. My dad is getting old too. Turns 62 this year. He worked his ass off traveling as a medical sales rep but he never missed a game when I was a kid and it was always something I could look forward to. He grew up a Redskins fan but got PSLs the first year the Carolinas got a team and that was our team ever since. Its so much more than sports or football for some people and not everyone can understand

Wilks best the golden boy Dan Campbell with the playoffs on the line for the Lions. Did so with a lesser talented roster.

Then got beat by the GOAT Brady.

Yeah you just a Wilks hater. Everybody knew we should have hired the HC who was actually trending on the right path despite having the worst owner in the NFL.

It's no surprise we haven't seen any success. This clown Tepper doesn't know football. He hires yes men. Wilks was not a yes man so he had no shot to be hired.

    On to the next!

Wilks lost a must win game at home to Mitch Trubisky. This fanbase faps over the most mediocre people

Hester was the best to ever do it at his position. Cam? Come on, man.

a kick returner. a position that anyone worth anything on offense or defense doesnt play because it isnt worth getting hurt (see Smith, Steve)

Cam revolutionized the most important position, Hester played a position that might not even be part of the game in 5 years

  12. If Devin Hester is a HOFer Cam better be first ballot. Annoying that Eli will get in even though he was probably never even a top 10 QB during his career. But his defense held the greatest offense of all time to 14 points and he played in New York so im sure theyll put him in

Having an offense this terrible lets the defense look alot better than it really is.  Teams can sit on a small lead and play it conservatively b/c they know no chance the panthers score. I look at it as more everytime the panthers terrible offense actually put up decent points the defense still allowed the opposing offense to put up more .

Exactly lol we never got a stop in a close game when we needed one

  14. This board cracks me up lol

im far from a Tepper apologist but lets recap the last 12 months

-We fired a college coach and the complaint was we needed someone that “understands” the NFL. We now have one of the most experienced staffs in the league, including 3 former NFL head coaches including Reich

-We bitched and moaned that we kept spinning wheels on bust QBs we tried to fix. They decided to finally get in position and literally be able to hand pick the rookie QB they wanted, and they picked the QB pretty much universally considered the right pick

-We whined that Hurney gave out bad contracts and was too loyal to players and that Gettleman was too cheap and too content with trying to fill holes with players already on the team. The guy we have now is aggressive and will do anything he feels makes the team better. When you are always making moves theres gonna be misses

So he has pretty much done everything this board has begged for, at some point it comes down to the players that get paid millions need to execute. Our OLine looked like world beaters last year and now can block a 4 man front. Our QB has had way more growing pains than anyone anticipated. Our defense literally has half its starters on IR.

despite all that, while were 1-7 only the Detroit and Miami games were ones where it was clear we were outclassed and couldnt compete, both those teams are also legitimate playoff teams. Every other game is a toss up decided by 2 or 3 plays. Our offense is painful to watch and our margin for error is almost zero, but I honestly dont think this team is looking at a decade of misery ahead like the consensus of the board thinks. Keep the core of the defense together, get Bryce some weapons, move Ickey to guard and get a tackle in free agency and I think next year looks alot different. But blowing it up now is just resetting the clock all over again, which weve been doing since 2019. You have to actually give this rebuild a real chance

Over the top obnoxious assholery I get it. Complain about it. Make them tone it down or get tossed. But if you want to protect your precious children from hearing a naughty word, then a football game isn't the place to be taking them.

    My thoughts exactly thank you
