Offensive Line Is Terrible

Keep Pounding

Recommended Posts

Our OL sucks, period. They all suck badly.

That is all I got to say.

Yep.  Nothing more to say other than our worst nightmare and Cams worst nightmare has come true.  That being said, KB was still the right pick.  I just wish we could have made a trade or signed a decent tackle in free agency.

I have to admit, seeing Bell give up that would be sack on literally the first play of the game, i chuckled a little bit because Bell's entire career can be summed up in that one little play. Jesus he is so putrid.. Putrid, putrid, putrid

And he and the Panthers front office though he would excel at his more natural position LEFT TACKLE!!!  He was below average at RT, so lets solve the problem by putting him where the best pass rushers attack at.

Its almost like they have a UDFA playing LT, a converted DT playing RT, a guy coming back from an achilles injury at LG, and a rookie at RG

haha I chuckled.

Seriously though...maybe we should just throw Foucault and Norwell in there.  Can't be worse than what we have...can they?

They don't "all suck".

Kalil is still one of the best in the league.

Amini Silatolu is uneven, but overall pretty good.

Trai Turner is a rookie. A rookie with a lot of ability and a load of potential, but still a rookie. He has a lot to learn yet.

Fernando Velasco is a guy who should be a backup/rotational guy but he's starting.

(sadly, that's been a common theme on our OL for a long time)

Byron Bell and Nate Chandler...ugh.

Kalil has been playing below his standards and Silatolu is just as bad as Bell and Chandler....well maybe not THAT bad, but he's been bad

I think Kalil is having to make up for a lot of what's going on around him.

No unit on the team requires more chemistry and cooperation than the OL.  One bad cog can gum up the whole thing.

Right now we've got two bad cogs, one young cog and one inconsistent cog.

oline is terrible.

and those rushing numbers, they are just hidden by newton's ability to run the ball. the oline has sucked since newton has been a qb for this franchise. he has no running backs who can stay healthy and real passing weapons except like two.

also shula sucks.

newton has actually improved in throwing the ball he just has no time. people claim they want to see him progress as a passer but  just when he has to, due to injury, he has no oline.

its not like the olinemen just got hurt. they have sucked and gettleman did very little to make sure newton was standing upright. no wonder he is hurt.

That's what I say. Just throw every O-linemen you have out there for a game and see what you got. There is NO way they cna be worse than our starting O-line. You know what's sad? If we cut all of our starting O-linemen (besides Kalil) today, I bet no one would even pick them up as backups. That's how bad they are.

    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
    • I think people aren’t patient enough with Young. It can take a few years for a QB to develop. Look at Darnold, Baker and most recently Daniel Jones.   he hasn’t been able to put up big passing numbers either cause of how much we run the ball. You can tell our coaching staff still hasn’t took the training wheels off Bryce and let him go all out. We’ve had some pretty bad receivers as well. We finally got a true number one last year and look how much Bryce improved. Still we didn’t really have any depth behind TMac. Coker was hurt for a lot of the year and XL was our #2. How many big plays or TDs has XL dropped? I think this year can be the year we see Bryce able to hit his stride. If not then we can start looking for another qb but I just ask people to be patient.
