Outside of 2005, he was never the best player on the team.

You know, the more you post on here the more I realize your opinion isn't worth two cents, even if you're rather knowledgeable at times.

Because you're wrong (in a hilariously matter of factly kind of way) more often than not.

Also, I said he was the best player in this team's history.

Name a year, outside of 2005, that he was the best player on the team.

2008, 2006 (both years he missed a handful of games), and as good as Cam was in 2011, Steve was right there with him.  He had some pretty fuging abysmal QB play for a lot of his career, and constantly faced double teams - and many times, triple teams, yet still put up his numbers.  Do you even realize how much he opened up the offense?  Not that we ever took advantage of it, because we could never find another WR to put out there with him... him drawing in the defense also made mediocre-above average RBs look good countless times.

I don't know why you're even bother arguing this... it's fuging stupid.  You're literally just going out your way to be difficult.  Steve Smith was our best overall player for a decade.

Regular season

915 receptions - 18th all-time (5th active)

13,262 receiving yards - 14th all-time (3rd active)
73 touchdowns - 33rd all time (5th active)

17,672 all-purpose yards - 10th all-time (1st active)
14.2 yards per touch - 18th all-time (3rd active)

All on a run-first team, with one season as a return specialist (2001), another missed due to injury (2004) and another missed because of QB play (2010).

1,001 receiving yards - 13th all-time (3rd active)
11 touchdowns - 11th all-time (1st active)

All with only 5 playoff seasons on run-first teams.
All with only 11 playoff

I'd count 2002, 2007, and 2012 as well.

Dude he was basically the best player on the roster since he got drafted. Before some captain obvious mentions Peppers the only other guys that have an argument would be Kris Jenkins before Smitty hit his stride or Dan Morgan.

2012 was when there were clearly better players at their position on the team.

The guy that carried this team on his back for a decade and made this team watchable - and very entertaining. The face of the franchise for an entire era. The best player in this team's history. One of the best wide receivers of all time.

#89 Steve fuging Smith. That's who.

Don't know why Panther fans still have to do this childish poo. We can show the man some respect, plus it's the offseason and it's his birthday accompanied along with a funny story.

I was as big of a Smith fan as anyone but the way he acted after getting cut really tarnished the way I feel. Yes his release wasn't handled properly but no need to cuss on TV about it.
